4000 square foot river front log home elegantly expanded and updated, on three acres of woods with rolling fields and stone walls down to private waterfront with sunset view beyond the river. Huge living room with picture windows and stone fireplace. Large master suite with jacuzzi tub in bathroom and dressing area with sink and walk-in closet. Equally large kids' room with two bunk beds and bath with shower. Separate area with two guest bedrooms and two full bathrooms. Cozy media room for reading, music or watching 42' HD TV via satellite. DSL and printer, washer and dryer. Full dining room. Fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and disposal. Screen porch with furniture for breakfasts with view of the lake, or summer dinners on the grill. Large deck with incredible view of the Connecticut River and sunsets. Community consists of approximately thirty vacation homes with six hundred acres, hiking trails, beaver pond and caretaker. Twenty minutes from historic St Johnsbury VT, with natural history museum and athenaeum and twenty minutes from Littleton, NH. One hour from Mt Washington, and children's attractions, including Six-gun City, Whale's Tale water park and Santa's Village . Two hours, forty minutes from Boston, two hours from Burlington, VT.

Fall getaway

My husband, my sister and I travelled to Vermont for a week long getaway. This house was a little bigger than we needed, but the location was a key point. The view of the river was beautiful. Although it's on an unimproved road, so are most of the roads in the North East Kingdom and it wasn't a problem at all. The house was very clean, spacious, the view couldn't be beat and I especially appreciated the well equipped kitchen and quality cookware. We'll stay here again with more family.

Best vacation ever!

We loved our stay in lower Waterford Vermont! A perfect vacation with our adult children and their significant others. The place was clean, well maintained and had everything we needed. The view of the Connecticut river spectacular and access to the community beach was perfect. Far exceeded our expectations and we will definitely be back! Thanks to the forwand family for sharing such a special place.

Amazing vacation!

We had an amazing week. The house and location were even better than the pictures. The beach is amazing, the lake is beautiful, the house is great. Swimming, boating, fishing, kids playing ini the sand, adults lounging in the sun.... paradise. We have already booked our stay for next summer!.

Magical Waterfront Cabin

We shared this the cabin with another family, and had an amazing time! The 8 year olds swam everyday in the pristine river. We all joined it to play tag on the lawn while the sun set framed by the water and mountains. Can’t say enough about the natural beauty surrounding this house, I would book again in a heartbeat!

Perfect getaway for a multi-generational family

It's rare that a rental property exceeds our expectations, but this one hit it out of the park! Our multi-generational family loved the ample bedrooms and bathrooms and plentiful communal spaces, both inside and outside. The river view was incredible and the easy access to a lovely beach and swim area within walking distance worked so well for us. Hiking, biking, and country walks added to our stay. Even COVID-19 did not overshadow our enjoyment of this beautiful property. Highly recommend and hope to return!

Vermont Family getaway

This was our second time staying at this property. It is as stated and very nice. We had all age ranges and all were happy with plenty of room. Water is so clean and enjoyable for fishing and swimming. The screen house is a big plus.

Idyllic getaway

We had an incredible time at this gem in Lower Waterford. The house is large and comfortable, with a full bathroom for each bedroom. Definitely check out the “rafterball” instructions – a basketball-type game the owners invented that is played using the rafter beams and a light ball. Literally hours of fun. The view from the house is stunning and can be enjoyed from indoors and the large deck and the screened in side porch. A beautiful 3-min walk gets you to the beach area where there are kayaks and many other boats and floats to enjoy. The swimming is heavenly and there’s a floating dock that young people enjoy. We couldn't have enjoyed ourselves more and can’t wait to return next summer. Thank you!

Perfect!

We had such an amazing week. The house was immaculately clean, comfortable, and well appointed, with stunning views of the river and absolute peace and quiet. We fell in love with Lower Waterford and can't wait to go back. Thanks for sharing your home with us!

Beautiful location

Have a wonderful vacation in Vermont. This home and community was perfect for our family vacation. My only complaint is no screen door on the patio door. Would have been nice to open it up for some fresh air in the living room with the hot afternoon sun. Other than that, it was great. Thanks so much, made more great family memories.

Peaceful, relaxing, quiet with plenty to do!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time together at this well-equipped house! After traveling from South Alabama, we wanted a week to relax while escaping the August heat. This house was perfect me, my husband, our 3 year old and my parents. Everyone had plenty of space to spread out and enjoy solitude. Or we could easily gather at one of the 4 large tables (2 inside, 2 on porches). The kitchen has everything you could possible need and good quality. (Not always the case in my experience with renting vacation homes) In addition to the spacious home, we enjoyed the amenities of the community including the beach (complete with chairs and a floating dock) and the community center (my almost 3 year loved the foosball). And the best part was that it was a quick, easy walk through the woods! Liz is prompt and thorough with her communication. The decor is warm and inviting and comfortable. My mom and I had a fit over the chairs with the soft leather arms. Yummy :) We hope to return! Thank you for sharing your home, Liz!

Serene Escape from Reality!

This vacation home was absolutely wonderful. There was plenty of room for 6 adults and the views were astounding. Very peaceful and quiet. We couldn't have asked for a better week off from reality!

Only thing missing was a screen on the door leading to the porch.

A good time was had by all. The view was amazing, the beach perfect. Much fun paddleboarding and sailing. The home worked well for our family, Heartily recommended, and would return for sure.

Serene and scenic

Seven of us rented the house while on a foliage vacation. This was the perfect house for us. Plenty of room and very comfortable. Off the beaten path it was a very quiet retreat. The scenery was spectacular! The trees were in full color and the view from the deck was breathtaking. We enjoyed our stay very much. House was clean and well stocked for our needs. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Best vacation property I've stayed in

This is the second time my family and I have stayed at this lovely house. It is so perfect for us -- 4 adults and 2 children. We all enjoyed swimming, boating, tennis, hiking, cooking, eating, fishing, reading, talking, and just generally relaxing at Liz's house. The area is beautiful, the view is amazing, the river is a source of tranquility and fun. Unlike most rental houses, the kitchen, though small, is very well-equipped. We love it!!

Happy times!

We, a group of ten friends, had a great time staying at this place, which in addition to a beautiful view on the Connecticut river, has access to a community sand beach with plenty of beach chairs and kayaks. The house is very clean and well maintained. We were able to seat ten people at the dinner table and celebrated the last days of summer eating quality meat prepared on the outdoor grill. Unfortunately, we had only booked for two nights...

Absolutely perfect vacation home!

Our family of seven spent four nights at this lovely vacation home and our only complaint was it wasn't enough time to enjoy everything it had to offer! Our 82 year old Dad loved relaxing and enjoying the beautiful view. The grandkids (ages 7 & 9) had a blast fishing and the nearby beach and clubhouse entertained them for hours. At night we marveled at the stars and lightning bugs and after sleeping soundly we all woke up to the peaceful sounds of birds. Everyone had plenty of space and the kitchen was incredibly well equipped with everything we needed to make meals and snacks. (Stock up at the Shaw's in Littleton, NH) On the one day it rained we all played board games and the kids found Calvin & Hobbes books in the children's room so everyone was relaxed and cozy. Liz was a wonderful host in answering emails prior to our visit and available to answer questions via phone. When it was time to leave the entire family only needed to ask her one question, "is it too early to book for next year?"

Perfect Place

This place is perfect. This was our second time visiting in three years. The house has plenty of space and you absolutely can't beat the privacy of the home. The yard is perfect for kids and there is access to a community beach and clubhouse. The fishing is great in the area as well. All in all a spectacular place for vacation that is reasonably priced and Liz is fantastic to work with!

A great time

We had a great time at this cottage. We were 3 adults and 3 children (all under 3 years old). The cottage was spacious, secluded, clean and very well-equipped. We particularly loved the screened in porch for dining. And while some aspects of the cottage were a bit dated; whatever, it generally just added to the charm of the place. The property itself was great for children with a lot of open space to run around and play games. It was a short 5-min walk through the woods to the community area with tennis courts, basketball net and a games room with ping pong and foosball. The beach area was great too with lots of chairs, toys and canoes / kayaks to use. And while it is actually a river, it is very much like a lake in that there were no strong currents - again, good for the kids. And it was quiet... only a handful of powerboats over the whole Labor Day weekend. We look forward to our next visit!

Just Perfect

This place was absolutely perfect! Right on the river, great layout for our kids, the clubhouse and community beach/boats were great. We couldn't have asked for a better vacation spot. I would highly recommend this place to anyone, and I certainly intend on going back next year!

Beautiful and restoring

I am rarely moved to write reviews but this house and its location are simply spectacular. Eleven of us celebrated my friend's pre-wedding girls' weekend here and it was perfect - clean, quiet and just the right size. I arranged the rental and each of the bride's friends (all different women with different backgrounds and tastes) loved every minute and every aspect of it (and I got to take credit, which should really be reserved for the friendly owner, Liz!). We swam, we went on runs, we lounged at the house, we cooked lots of food in the well-equipped kitchen, grilled on the picturesque porch, danced to music in the Great Room, took kayaks on the river, did yoga at sunset on the grassy point in front of the house.... The nearby beach is the icing on the cake. We spent all afternoon lying around, taking dips, and jumping off the dock. I was so restored when I returned home to my family and hectic job. Bravo, Waterford! I hope I have a chance to return!

We are a family of four (with two grown daughters) now spread between California and Florida, though we raised our children in Boston with summers in our Vermont house. Having retired to Florida, the house does not get as much use, and we decided it was time to share our special home on the Connecticut River with others!

Within easy reach of Boston, the setting was perfect for a peaceful weekend out of the city. With small children, the ability to let them roam the woods and river was priceless, while the river sports, hiking and tennis proved relaxing for adults as well.

A morning swim in the river, when the water is like glass and the birds are out, followed by coffee on the porch, is the perfect summer morning.

Foliage season is spectacular in this area, with the woods surrounding the house ablaze with color. Crisp morning hikes with leaves underfoot is a fall treat - try to take in the fall colors from the lookout point at the top of Chamberlin Mt, a 45 minute hike you can start from the front door!
