In the Colorado High Rockies, we can expect consistent snowfall October through May. At this elevation, you may even see snow in June and and July on occasion! The main access road, Quartzville Rd, is maintained by the county and is regularly plowed after each snowfall and the driveway will be plowed if it snows over 4 inches, but having an AWD/4x4 vehicle is required in winter and recommended year-round for this home.

West Ice Arena, and 2) north of town at the Airport Road satellite lot, which also accommodates RVs and trailers.
Colorado Traction Law:
From September through May 31, the Colorado Traction Law is in effect for all drivers traveling on I-70 between Morrison and Dotsero as well as US-285 to Breckenridge . This law mandates that vehicles must be equipped with either four-wheel or all-wheel drive and snow-rated or mud + snow tires. Alternatively, vehicles with two-wheel drive must have winter tires, chains, or other traction devices. Ensuring your vehicle is properly equipped is essential for safe winter driving in Colorado. If youāre renting a car, be sure to confirm with your rental company that your vehicle meets these requirements.

Please be aware that during the winter months, roads and driveways are likely to be snow-covered or icy, making four-wheel drive (4WD) or all-wheel drive (AWD) essential for safe travel. We are unable to offer refunds for vehicles that get stuck or require towing, and unfortunately, we cannot assist with towing or vehicle recovery.
