Beachside Cottage on Lopaus Point

Back Beach Cottage sits directly on the sandy shores of Lopaus Point. The private beach is a great place to sunbathe, have a picnic, or take a dip in the refreshing Atlantic Ocean. Explore the rugged coastline and tidal pools or take a short walk to the local lobster pier for lunch or dinner.

Back Beach Cottage offers two bedrooms, one with a queen-sized bed and the other with twin bunk beds. The cottage is completely furnished and equipped with bedding, towels, washer/dryer, and a full kitchen as well as bathroom with a stand-up shower. To add extra warmth on a cool summer or fall night, a Vermont castings woodstove and electric heater are provided. In the living room, sliding glass doors open onto a full deck which offers a spectacular view of the beach as well as an excellent place to socialize or barbecue.

Amazing location! Beautiful quiet beachfront on a working harbor, we watched the lobster boats go out & return daily. A little village with restaurants & shops nearby; Acadia's wonders only 15-45 minutes away. Birds & deer galore. Couldn't have asked for anything more!

The location is even more beautiful than depicted in the photos in the Vrbo listing. The cottage is also very lovely, well appointed and beautifully furnished. Screened in porch was a delight, as was the expansive deck with 2 wicker and 2 very large comfortable, cushioned deck "lounge" chairs. And the host was so very gracious and wonderfully hospitiable. Only complaint I have is that although the Queen mattress is wonderfully comfortable, as my grown daughter reported, the lower twin bunk mattress where I slept was waay waay too hard for comfortable sleeping. I'll have to bring an air mattresss to put ontop of it next summer, when we hope to rent this otherwise absolutely perfect MDI seaside cottage again.

Nice cottage at an awesome location. Beautiful views from the cottage and a quiet, calm atmosphere compared to in Acadia Park. It was nice to have the peace to come back to after exploring the area. Bathroom is VERY small and anyone of a larger size would not even fit in the shower, but the inconvenience of the bathroom is made up with the views. Nice to watch the moon sky every night. Just beautiful... bedroom is very tight as well. Nice beach area outside to walk and watch the tide coming in and out. The owner, Russell, came over and introduced himself which was also nice. Very pleasant and accommodating.

gorgeous location, cozy home

We've been coming to MDI for about 20 years, and this was our favorite location yet. The setting could not have been more beautiful. What a treat to be able to walk right out the door and be on the shore! The week we came was mostly cold and rainy, but we didn't even care, as we had such a cozy place to stay. The kitchen was spacious and well-stocked, which made it easy to eat meals at the cottage. Everything was even better than we'd expected from the pictures. Rusty was friendly and available. We can't wait to come back.

Great Place!!

This was our second stay at Beachside and it was just as great as our first! The location is amazing and the house has everything you need. Rusty, the owner, is very friendly and easy to contact if you need anything. A great “home base” but also just a great place to spend a day at as well. Looking forward to staying again!

Comfy House, Gorgeous Location

Rusty's place is a clean, simple, home in an amazing location. A great base for exploring Acadia, but we also really loved just sitting on the deck and watching the tides, birds, and boats. Bedrooms and bath are definitely small, but living room and kitchen are very comfortable.

The home was rustic but clean, and Rusty was helpful. The main thing is the views from deck, porch, and living room were absolutely amazing. Quiet and beautiful. Great vacation.

Great location

Our family of 4 loved our stay at Beachside Cottage. The location was convenient for nearby hiking and it was about a 35 minute drive to Park Loop Road in Acadia National Park. We watched the sunrise from the screened in porch and sunset viewing was only a short walk away. A great experience overall.

Perfect Maine Home

We had a wonderful month-long stay. The setting is always spectacular, the home had everything we needed and the host was always nearby happy to help. Having a walking beach right outside your door was a treat. Highly recommended for those looking for a quiet place with a view.

Amazing Location!

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here- highly recommended for a couple or a small family. Waking up to the sunrise over the ocean everyday was amazing! It was great to stay on the “quiet side”. This place has everything you need and the hosts are friendly, helpful, and also give you your privacy. We made wonderful memories here and look forward to a future stay

Spectacular view!

We recently stayed at this rental cottage, and overall, it was a good, memorable experience. Pros: - The most outstanding feature of this cottage is the spectacular ocean view. Simply lovely! - The host was quick to address a minor issue we encountered, specifically a slow-draining sink. Cons: - In the main bedroom, the bed takes up most of the space, making it challenging to move around. - The shower is quite tight, which might be uncomfortable for some guests. Good-to-knows: - The address listed in VRBO is incorrect as of Sept 2023. I wish the host had told us this before we arrived in the dark. You should confirm in advance. - For those seeking absolute tranquility and privacy, it's worth noting that the cottage is close to a dirt public access lane, public beach, and small cemetery. So this means you are likely to hear and see people nearby who are not the hosts. - There is no hot tub/spa whirlpool. As of Sept 2023, I believe these are listed in the amenities.

Heaven on earth

I have stayed here many times. It’s my happy place in Maine. Right on the water with plenty of privacy. Beautiful, pristine and secluded. The hosts Rusty and Lynn live nearby and couldn’t be better. Make you feel like family. ❤️❤️❤️
