The space
Featured in three design magazines (Colorado Homes & Lifestyles, Country Home, and Breckenridge Magazine), this house has fabulous, historic style -- complete with an original outhouse (no longer functional, of course)! It has also been included on the Breckenridge Historic Home Tour.
White shiplap throughout makes the house clean and bright. Antique touches with a modern IKEA kitchen make it fun. We love to be in the kitchen and be with family, whether they are watching TV or sitting by the fire -- thus, our great room is twice the size of the original little cottage built in 1882.
When we remodeled we lifted the house in two pieces, dug a 9' basement and put it back. We have created a fun kid zone in the basement complete with kitchenette, ping pong table, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The main floor junior suite is an old shed turned chic ensuite bedroom with chandelier and "barbed wire" towel racks connected to the back of the house. The main bedroom (part of the new construction that includes the garage) has a soaring ceiling and floating wall with a dressing area behind -- complete with large closet, 10' mirror and marble bathroom.
Our front yard is darling with a firepit and patio. Across the street is the town library housed in the 120 year old former high school. It includes a movie theater with first run movies. Breckenridge is a wonderful town to explore and enjoy -- shopping, aprés, dining and nightlife are all walkable within a few short blocks, at most.
