Family River trip

Serendipity has perfect New River views from the front porch and easy access to tube/kayak. Highly recommend for a relaxing peaceful stay.

The cabin was nice , small but we knew that it would be. The throw pillows on the sofa are dirty, not enough silverware, pots and pans need to be replaced. Some aren’t usable.We had a plumbing issue on arrival, it was remedied not as quickly as we had hoped. Phyllis was kind and did the best she could under the circumstances. The cabin could use a few touch ups… mold around the showers..It’s a nice spot on the river for floating and fishing. We were 7 plus a dog so it was a tight fit. I don’t know how 10 would manage.

Wonderful and Relaxing

Rented for a bachelorette weekend. Such a fun and relaxing weekend with the ladies sitting in the river and spending time together.

River is a show stopper!

The cabin was clean, thoughtfully decorated, and had everything we would need to cook a meal. The downstairs activity room gave space for all of us to relax separately or have fun together playing a game of pool. The hot tub was clean and worked well. The showstopper was the river! It was so peaceful, absolutely beautiful, and made our stay at sSerendipity, extra special! I would recommend this vacation rental to my friends and family. Thank you for everything!.

Family Retreat

This home is perfectly named Serendipity. It's location and privacy and beauty are serene and a much needed respite. The house felt a little smaller than we expected, but it worked out fine. There were more supplies than expected as far as cookware, dishsoap, bags and spices. There was a distinct septic smell, but liveable for us. More sensitive people might struggle. All in all, a charming, peaceful getaway for our bunch. Thank you!

The property was amazing the house was amazing the beds were comfortable. They did leave a used sponge for dishes which was a little icky and barely left us enough toilet paper or garbage bags. We bought more of that stuff for our stay and also contributed tin foil zip locks and salt and a pair of scissors as they didn't have that either for future people. The grill was horrific. U can't grill on it. They didn't have a lighter but also only like two burners worked and there was no covers over the flames. The power on the hottub was off so make sure u turn it on and make sure the heat light is lit for the heat element to work. It was peaceful and beautiful property. We saw deer on our walk up the hill. We came in winter so not much to do but we did visit widow creek falls. Also gorgeous and falls is not far from parking lot for people who can't hike far.

Disappointed

Small. Like really small. Old furniture, dining room table sagging in the middle, bedroom tiny Tiny! Mattress in bedroom closet. 1 couch, old, 1 chair. I’ve stayed in a lot of cabins, the last 2 have been disappointing. Would not recommend. Also very pricey. Especially with the size of cabin. Ain’t happy. In case you were confused.

We're so sorry to hear of your disappointment. We have a new couch now and added a rocking chair. The dining room table has also been repaired. The cabin is smaller but the setting is amazing!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I'm a frequent vacationer to the mountains of NC but this was the first time I stayed in a river cabin. My vacation here with my fiance was great from the very first moment we walked into the cabin. My first impression upon walking in and seeing the property for the first time was that everything was amazingly clean. A very nice first impression! Overall, the cabin is quite cozy and very nice. My stay here was during the winter when the weather was cold and rainy most of the time but I still enjoyed the getaway (for my birthday). Perhaps the best compliment you can give a vacation property is that I enjoyed my stay so much that while I was still there I booked another vacation for the Summer.

Great Stay!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary weekend. Upon arrival, we were impressed with how clean the cabin was. The cabin is very cozy, has a fully stocked kitchen and a beautiful view of the river. We took our canoe and were very pleased at the access to the river. We actually paddled up river to find some good fishing holes and hit the jackpot! We caught about two dozen fish each day! The house is comfortable, has a landline phone (no cell phone service), WI-FI connection and many TV stations to choose from. The hot tub was great! It felt wonderful after a day of canoeing! We used it often. The only negative we found was the pool table. (We have our own table and play often) The table is uneven, there's not enough room to shoot properly from one side and the lighting is extremely dim at night. I'm not sure of the condition of the pool sticks, as we took our own. We were a little disappointed by the pool table, but it would not keep us from staying here again by any means! We hope to be back for our anniversary next year!

Great cabin by the river

Good location for accessing both the New River and Mount Rogers/Grayson Highlands. Outfitters right across the river can ferry you up the river if you have your own boat or you can rent from them. It's a beautiful paddle. We also caught some nice small mouth. House has a great view. We enjoyed. meals together on the porch overlooking the river. The jacuzzi was awesome as well. :). Hiking at Grayson Highlands was lovely, and we even drove an hour to Damascus to ride our bikes down the Virginia Creeper Trail. It was one of the highlights of our trip. Would stay here again.

Relaxing Riverfront

We enjoyed our stay. It was very quiet and relaxing. Really enjoyed sitting down by the river and listening to the river . The view was amazing! Hope to stay here again soon!

Septic system problem

This would be a five-star, but the reason for the poor rating overall is there is a serious septic system issue with this property that needs to be addressed. The house and location are beautiful otherwise.

Relaxing!!

Very clean, quiet, relaxing long weekend. Get your groceries before you get there! Groceries are 50 minutes away no matter which way you travel. Don't expect to eat out without some traveling. Beautiful views. Definitely would go again.

We're so happy to hear you had a relaxing weekend. Groceries are a little closer in West Jefferson. About 30 minutes from the cabin. There's also a convenience store about 10 minutes away as well as Red Dog Bistro - a must try!

A nice little fall getaway

A very nice, cozy, clean and well maintained cabin. Right on the river, so if it's warm enough, bring some tubes to float or use one of the many local outfitters. Good central location to visit local outdoor destinations such as New River Bike Trail, Grayson Highlands, Damascus and the New River itself. Stone Mountain is also within an hours drive, but we didn't make it there. Guess that's a good reason to come back.

Lovely place
