La Jolla Gem
We spent a fabulous August week at the house in La Jolla with the kids and our 5 & 7 year old grand kids. Did we ever make the right decision!
The house is quite elegant in a modern way. It's extremely comfortable with every amenity one could possibly need. In fact, the house is so nice that it made my everyday abode feel shabby by comparison. Elena is one of those people who seems compulsively clean and neat so in that department the house was impeccable. If you walked barefoot in the house you'd be more inclined to worry about getting the floors dirty than the other way around.
The previous year we stayed in Mission Beach, a short, short walk from the water. At first I thought we might be too far away this year. Not so at all. In fact, it was much better to be away from the madding crowd yet very close in to shops, restaurants, grocery stores and the beaches. At the end of the day I loved sitting on the little deck by the front door, looking at the beautiful views of the ocean, the beaches and San Diego with no noise, just calmness.
One of the many things we loved was the back yard and outdoor eating area. The kids had a great place to play with a soccer ball and putt golf balls and we could sit comfortably and watch them and participate when we felt like it. And if there was information we needed about the house, Elena got us the answer right away. She and her husband are extremely gracious hosts who put a premium on customer service.
I'm trying to think of a complaint. Hmmm...... A couple of minutes have passed. Can’t come up with anything.
