On the positive side, we appreciate your comment about our “lovely” home and the comment you made in our email exchanges regarding our “spectacular property”. Your criticisms regarding the management of the property were a surprise, as we have received nothing but positive feedback from our other guests. Nevertheless, we must learn from all our guests’ comments as we wish to ensure they have a truly memorable experience in our house. We regret that this does not appear to have been your own experience. This was our first summer renting out our home – we will ensure that these wrinkles are ironed out. In fact there is an extremely good instruction manual for the house, and it seems this was not given to you. I apologise for this and will make sure that Riviera Prime give this to all our guests in the future. We must agree to disagree over the safe incident. It was unfortunate that the back-up key for one of the five safes did not work when your friends accidentally locked their belongings in the safe. But taking the unilateral decision you did to call a locksmith to break open and destroy the safe, without my or the manager’s consent, was just not the correct way to handle this. Had you waited a few hours, Riviera Prime would have been able to open the safe without any damage. All the back-up keys are now functional. We must also agree to disagree over the cause of the large stains to the rug – in any event, as you know, we did not charge you for this. Riviera Prime were correct to describe the inventory as a formality and we certainly do not wish this to be a source of stress for our guests. We will revisit this practice to ensure that what we do is reasonable and does not cause our guests anxiety.”
