Beautiful and Cozy Cottage with Hot Tub close to Snæfellsnes National Park

Holt is a perfect base for your Icelandic holiday. Have a memorable day at Snæfellsjökull National Park, visit a natural hot spring like Deildartunguhver, or amazing waterfall like Hraunfossar. Other interesting places to visit are, the active volcano Grábrók, the crater Eldborg, historical viking landmark Reykholt, and taking a walk into the glacier Langjökull. You can stroll through the nearby cozy town of Borgarnes and drop by the cafe’s, museums, shops and restaurants. Take a drive to the capital Reykjavík with all its glory, nightlife and culture. Make a day trip on the Golden Circle and see the exploding Geysir with all its natural power, and drop by the historic Thingvellir National Park, and view close up the beautiful Gullfoss waterfall. In the evenings you will always come back home to this cozy cottage in Helluskógur and the first thing you might do is, relax in the hot tub and enjoy the views or the Northern Lights in the peace and quietness after a memorable day.

The lodge was built in a traditional, Icelandic summerhouse way. It is well constructed and insulated. It is warm and cozy all year round with all necessities and comfort. The house has an open kitchen-living room area. In the kitchen there is all the tableware and equipment you need for cooking, baking, and serving a lovely meal. The living room has a great corner sofa and a large flat screen TV . The bedrooms are cozy and comfortable with great quality beds. Free WIFI.

On the large terrace is a nice hot tub that fits up to 6 people, barbecue grill and comfortable outdoor seating. The terrace is perfect for serving a good meal and relax in the peaceful environment. Beside the house is a grass lawn which is surrounded by a birch forest, ideal for kids to play.

We have been connected to Borgarfjörður since childhood and would like to share good advice and information about the house or the area so don't hesitate to send us an email request about anything you would like to know and we will do our best to help you.

Had everything as advertised, as needed. Beautiful house in the western region, convenient to nearby Borgarnes and good base for peninsula travel. Welcome packet was super helpful with house info and local info/recommendations.

The house was very cozy - the beds were extremely comfortable, the sofa was lovely the house was very private. Plentiful towels and linens and blankets. The host was very responsive to messages.

Everything was fine, except for the shower/bathroom set up. We had to use quite a few towels because the bathroom floor got really wet when you took a shower.

We really enjoyed this cottage. Lots of room for everyone, hot tub was a big hit. Only problem was we couldn't stay longer. In the country, but only takes a few minutes to get to town.

Was such a great vacation in the cottage. From booking until Depature everything was perfect. Really uncomplicated, super clean and the highlight is the Whirlspool on the Terrace. Thanks for everything!

Really lovely spot ; great location . Was a perfect base for exploring so much of the West & central regions of Iceland. One of the best supplied rentals I have used- was able to cook anything with compromise on equipment. Extremely helpful and supportive hosts.We felt so at home here- it was hard to leave.

Lovely rustic cabin

We adored this place! Perfect location, close to Snaefellsnes Peninsula and the town of Borganes. Everything you needed with very accommodating and helpful hosts. Would highly recommend!

Lovely Stay

Fun and relaxing time in nature

After being in Reykjavik, we came out to the Borgarnes area to relax and be closer to nature and the Snaefellsnes peninsula area. This little cabin was perfect for that! Felt remote, but was near everything we needed, and the views were so lovely.

We loved the layout of the cabin- it was perfect forOur needs!

We had a great stay and Heidi and Rob were excellent to work with. They were very quick to respond via email before our trip and they provided excellent information about the cabin (directions, how to use features, etc.). We loved the location as it provided access to things that we wanted to see. Highly recommend!

cozy and remote

We had a nice stay at this cute little house. It was cozy with comfortable beds and a wonderful hot tub. It was definitely off the beaten track and took longer to get to destinations because of the remote location, but if you are looking for a cozy get away and enjoy the nearby river and surrounds, this house is very nice.

Thank you for your review. I´m not sure if we can call it very remote since there are few summerhouses in the area and the town of Borgarnes is about 10 min driving... :-) An Update from November, 2019!! Thank you so much. We just renovated the whole house in November, 2019 with brand new beds, bathroom, kitchen, floors and furniture. We also added a new hot water system so now there is plenty of hot water for showering etc. We also added cable TV with many channels in HD quality. Glad you liked your stay and very welcome back to any of our houses in Iceland. Sincerely, Heidi and Rob

All of our houses have a hot tub and everything a cozy and comfortable home needs and are available all year round. We welcome you whether you want to visit during winter to view the Northern Lights or during summer when the nights are bright.

Our houses are different in size, style and location so everyone should be able to find the perfect house for their group to stay at. So whether you are a couple, a family or a group of friends, one of our rentals could be the right one for you.

For us, this place is heaven on earth. It is cozy and comfortable and it is so easy to relax there. Robert has had the opportunity to stay in this house since childhood so it really means a lot to us. It is a cottage with history and a lot of good memories. We are happy to offer others to enjoy it.

Peacefulness - You can sit outside on the terrace or walk around the house and enjoy the nature and the amazing mountain view in the peaceful surroundings.

Location - The location of the house is ideal for exploring the west side of Iceland. There are short driving distances to many beautiful places in the nature such as waterfalls and craters. Museums and historical places are also nearby. There is only a 15 minutes drive to the nearest town, Borgarnes, where you can find for example a swimming pool, golf course, shops, bakery, restaurants, library and health care.
