Welcome to Bakki and Holt, two neighbouring homes for up to 16 guests in the birch woodland of West Iceland. Just 30 metres apart and connected by a walking path, they bring together a spacious design house and a cosy Icelandic cottage.

Gather for meals, explore together and share the holiday, with a home of your own to retreat to when you want a quieter moment. For extended families and groups of friends, it is a flexible way to stay close while enjoying separate spaces.

RIVERSIDE WALKS CLOSE TO HOME

The nearby Langá river adds another pleasure to your stay: walks along the river without planning a full day out. Head out for some fresh air, enjoy the scenery and return to the houses for lunch on the terrace or a relaxing soak in one of your private hot tubs.

BOTH HOMES, EXCLUSIVELY FOR YOUR GROUP

Your booking includes all of Bakki and Holt, their terraces and both private hot tubs.

Bakki accommodates up to 10 guests, while Holt accommodates up to six. Each house has its own kitchen, living area and bathroom facilities, so different generations and families can keep their own routines.

Early risers can make breakfast in one house while others sleep in. Some guests can enjoy a film while others talk over dinner. The short path between the houses makes meeting up easy throughout the day.

BAKKI: DESIGN, LIGHT AND SPACE TO GATHER

Designed by Icelandic architect Sigurður Hallgrímsson, Bakki offers generous open living spaces, floor-to-ceiling windows and a large kitchen island.

The kitchen is equipped for cooking and baking, with plenty of workspace for preparing meals together. Its connection to the living area keeps everyone part of the conversation, whether they are cooking, reading or relaxing.

Hardwood floors, natural stone tiles and thoughtful lighting give the house warmth and character. Underfloor heating makes it especially welcoming after a crisp day outdoors.

HOLT: YOUR COSY ICELANDIC COTTAGE

Holt brings a different character to the stay: the warmth and simplicity of a traditional Icelandic summerhouse.

Well insulated and comfortable throughout the year, it has an open kitchen and living area, a generous corner sofa and its own TV. The kitchen is equipped for preparing meals independently, giving your group another place for breakfast, a quiet lunch or a relaxed evening.

Sleeping accommodation includes a sleeping loft, adding to the cottage’s traditional character.

TWO TERRACES, TWO PRIVATE HOT TUBS

Both houses have large terraces with barbecues and outdoor seating, giving your group a choice of places to relax.

Bakki’s terrace includes an outdoor kitchen, and its hot tub seats up to seven people at a time. Holt’s hot tub seats up to six. Enjoy a soak after sightseeing, prepare dinner outdoors or settle in with a coffee and the woodland around you.

Lawns beside both houses offer room for children to play nearby, with birch trees surrounding the setting.

In summer, make the most of Iceland’s long evening light. During the darker months, clear skies and the right aurora conditions may bring the northern lights into view.

THE PRACTICAL COMFORT OF TWO HOMES

Both houses have Wi-Fi, a TV, a dishwasher and a washing machine—useful comforts when travelling with a larger group.

Two kitchens make it easier to organise breakfasts, prepare food for outings and accommodate different meal times. Separate living areas give everyone more choice about how to spend the evening.

Spend a day discovering Hraunfossar and nearby Barnafoss, see the steaming geothermal waters at Deildartunguhver or explore historic Reykholt. The volcanic scenery around Grábrók offers another rewarding stop.

Choose outings that suit your group, or split into smaller groups with different plans before meeting back at the houses. Staying in one place lets you explore over several days without packing up each morning.

MAKE A DAY OF SNÆFELLSNES

Set aside a full day for the Snæfellsnes peninsula, with its fishing villages, rugged coastline and volcanic landscapes.

Plan your route around the places that interest you most, from coastal stops to the scenery of Snæfellsjökull National Park. Give yourself time to enjoy the journey and adapt your plans to the season and weather.

Afterwards, return to your own kitchens, comfortable living rooms and two private hot tubs.

Borgarnes offers groceries, shops, cafés, restaurants and museums. Stop for lunch, enjoy a meal out or pick up ingredients for dinner before returning to the countryside.
