He is a proud product of Gaston County schools and has great memories of his school days in McAdenville, Cramerton, and Belmont. Matthew also holds a Bachelors in Business Administration from Belmont Abbey College.
In addition to his real estate career, Matthew was a Citizen Soldier with the N.C. National Guard. Captain Hanks earned his commission at the North Carolina Military Academy Officer Candidacy School at Fort Bragg and then graduated from U.S. Army flight school at Fort Rucker, Alabama.
Matthew lives in Gastonia with his wife and business partner, Susan and their three children: Gabe, Anna, and Jonah. The family attends Central Church in Charlotte, NC.
In his free time, Matthew enjoys golf, flying, videography, and day trips with his family.
