We enjoyed our stay and the condo was comfortable. Unfortunately, it wasn't equipped for the storms that passed through while we were there. There weren't any flashlights, matches or lighters to light candles. I wish we were better prepared. Hard to be completely prepared when that type of disaster happens. Fortunately, the resident's next door gave us a lighter and a candle, thank you Lyn.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, that was an oversight on our part not to have a lantern -- we had one, but it stopped working and we didn't replace it. We're getting a new one now. Yes, the storm was huge, and I understand the complex management and emergency crews did a good job in helping people get around it.

Great spot close to the beach

Amelia & Drew's place was exactly what we were looking for. Close to the beach, clean, comfortable beds, and fairly priced. We would definitely stay here again.

The apartment was exactly what we were looking for. It had everything we needed for a beach vacation and Kamaole 2 beach within 5 mins walk. Drew was very helpful during tsunami alert during our stay. Highly recommended.

Amazing place

This place is beyond my expectation! This unit has a peek a boo view from the ocean and it is quietly located in a very desired area(restaurants and shops). We really enjoy the stay. This place is also spotless clean!!!!!!

Perfect location

Really great. Things offered in house is just fabulous to see that. We all loved staying here. Other places on island are very accessible from here. Will recommend anybody planning to visit Maui.

Perfect anniversary trip

Great stay, perfect location

We had a wonderful stay. Beds very comfy. The kitchen was perfectly clean and equipped with everything we needed. The beach was fantastic and all the supplies we needed were in the condo. Loved our stay and can't wait to visit again.

Short trip to maui

We enjoyed this charming condo with great location to beaches, restaurants & shops right in Kihei. It was the perfect location for our first trip to maui & the condo was the perfect size for our small family. We’d love to return!

Clean and Comfortable

Drew and Amelia have a clean, comfortable and well-equipped unit in a lovely complex centrally located in Kihei. Pretty much anything and everything you need is within walking distance, from great beaches to shopping to everything in between. Loved my stay!

Amazing area. Everything are at a walking distance. Bit you need to rent a car to visit the are.

Nice clean and everything that you need is there. All equipment for the beach are available.

“Walkability” was one of the deciding factors when we bought the place. But while you’re right that a car is a “must” on Maui, the location is a good central point and place to come home to. Thanks again for staying with us!

Great location and amenities

The condo was clean, has lot of great amenities and in a perfect location. My only suggestion is to have an wifi extender in the bedroom so the wifi reception can be better there.

Everything we needed and more

Property grounds very clean, nice pool area, close to beach, and conveniently located near stores, restaurants, and equipment rentals. Condo had lots of extra conveniences like beach umbrellas, chairs, cooler, and much more.

Great stay

The most accommodating location we have ever stayed out. When out airline changed our flight last minute, they worked with us and let us do a significantly later checked out so my kids could nap before our red eye flight. It was a great location and walking to distance to many places also. There was no door to the bedroom and the bathroom needed a good deep clean but overall it was a perfect stay for us.

Kihei Akahi Gem

Amelia and Drew's condo is as exactly as described and is a well stocked condo; really a home away from home. You couldn't ask for a better location with the complex right across the street from Kamaole II beach. Added bonus was the host provided detailed information about the condo, and even recommended places to visit, eat and shop. Thank you so much for your hospitality!

Fantastically Awesome

The perfect getaway

The condo is set perfectly, about 900 feet up the driveway crosswalk from the beach. It's quiet, yet close to everything in Kihei. So many amenities, from laundry soap, beach towels, chairs, some snorkeling gear, umbrella, and a kitchen stocked with many tools. Our host, Drew, replied every time we had a question, before and during our stay.

Great

We really loved it, location was great, beach nearby, restaurants and shops nearby. Complex had two pools, the apartment was facing one of them and in the evening they put on lots of torches. The apartment was clean, beds were good, also the sofa bed was of good quality. What we liked it was stocked so much, lots of spices, sauces etc!

We're so glad you enjoyed it! The torches around the pool were just installed in the spring and we were delighted to see them - the complex management takes great care of the place! You were among the first to use that sofa-bed, too: we like to make sure things are up-to-date and in good order. We hope you'll stay with us again sometime!

Amelia and Drew live in East Sooke BC (just outside Victoria), with 2 dogs and a cat. We have 5 grown children (and 4 grandkids) living across Canada and in Australia. We went to Maui to "check it out" in 2011 because some friends of ours called it "Paradise", and within a week, we had bought this place. Our friends did not over-sell it! We're both sort-of retired -- Amelia is a professional facilitator and practitioner in public consultation and engagement and Drew is a pastor, writer and recovering broadcaster.

We've come to consider Maui "home", diving into the history and culture of the place, contributing to efforts like the Maui Ocean Center and A Cup of Cold Water (a "care van" which distributes food, clothing and other essentials to the unhoused around the island); when a native Mauian introduced us to a meeting in Denver as "fellow Mauians", we knew we'd been accepted.

Over the years, we've met many wonderful people through hosting them at our place and hope you'll join those ranks!

We've seen many wonderful places in our travels around the world, but Maui is unique, for its combination of unspoilt beauty and comforts-of-home amenities. We had initially looked for property right on the beach, but choosing this place at Kihei Akahi -- across the street from the beach -- has allowed us to keep our rent at rates a family can afford.

This part of Kihei is eminently walkable, with restaurants at every price range, a supermarket, and shopping and other features within a mile -- a flat mile, too!

And, of course, there's the beach: it's not connected to any resort; dedicated lifeguards are on the job seven days a week, and people of all shapes and sizes -- with their families! -- love it for hanging out, swimming, shore-based whale-watching, and dodging turtles!

Walkability: that became one of our top criteria for any place we would buy, this place has that. We walk to the beach in the morning to swim, then walk the length of the beach and come back via the road. You can walk to some neat restaurants, like Cafe O'Lei and Moose McGillicuddy's, as well as shops and 3 supermarkets. We love the farmers' markets and the weekend swap meet in Kahului is worth the drive (the Philip Soo batiks were purchased there). We also love the fact that total strangers say 'hi' on the street and that you can feel like a regular in a restaurant or bar just by coming back.
