Whether you are traveling with friends, or family, or pets, "BEAR PAW" Cottage is the perfect place for hanging out with the those who mean the most to you!  Relax and enjoy Beautiful Blue Ridge views from the hot tub or take that much needed walk along a quiet country lane and catch up on old times.  This Cozy Cottage is a short walk to Lydia Mountain Lodge where you can enjoy Majestic Mountain Views and leave the cooking up to us by stopping in for a delicious breakfast, lunch, or dinner at the Bearrr Appetit Restaurant at the Lodge!  Come on and Take your Honey on a Real Mountain Adventure at BEAR PAW Cottage!

Great retreat

We enjoyed our stay at Bear Paw. It is a cozy, quiet, beautiful retreat. It needs just a little bit of maintenance, but was very comfortable and adequate for our stay

disappointing

I tried calling and emailing this weekend, but no one got back to me. We had a disappointing time at Bear Paw. The place wasn't especially clean. There is a serious dog smell and essence inside the cabin, on the couches, chairs, rugs--we both are allergic to dogs and had to take an inhaler/meds because the dander was so intense. The porch near the hot tub smells like gas. The bathroom sink isn’t draining well. There were wet sheets in the washing machine, we put them in the dryer but they smelled mildewy. Also seemed strange to receive so many emails about how much toilet paper you were giving us (only two rolls) but then after all that there was only one. Is there any recourse? Thanks.

Cute little week end

We spent two marvelous days at this cabins. It was clean, cozy and very quiet. The hot tub was very welcome after a great day hiking in the Shenandoah. We will for sure come back

Cute little weekend stay!

We absolutely ADORED how cozy and comfortable the cabin was! Everything worked as expected. The cabin was also very close to the wedding venue and ceremony site, so it was very convenient getting to and from! Thanks so much!

Lovely offering for more privacy

First time to Charlottesville and surrounding areas. We choose to stay at Lydia Mountain Lodge's Bear Paw Cottage because it was tucked away but still very accessible to other areas we toured. Very secluded but also very safe. It felt smart to rent a cabin managed by a Lodge rather than a random rental on other sites. The price was very fair. We didn't need any help from the staff but when we checked out they were very friendly. Cabin was clean, you could tell they had taken care to renovate but still keep the vibe of the original. Wonderful back deck and clean hot tub. Comfortable memory foam bed (and we have been burnt by rental beds before, so thumbs up there). Overall, we loved our stay!

No window coverings in bedroom

We were surprised to find the bedroom windows (closest to the bed) did not have curtains, shades or blinds. It made sleeping extremely difficult and meant two early mornings. Also, the cabin does not have a dishwasher as advertised.

Place is great, but there was no WiFi (please go and check yourselves to confirm). Also, there was no DVD player when we arrived, desp[ite the listing saying there would be. I notified the manager when we arrived, but she did not resolve the issue until we complained about something else on the second day. Also, there was only 1 roll of toilet paper in the cabin, despite the welcome email saying there were 2. Please don't scrimp on basic items like toilet paper. We shouldn't have to go out of our way to buy extra TP (which we did, and left you a roll). Key takeaway: provide the items you say you are going to provide. If those items aren't there, make sure to provide them right away without making excuses.

Disappointed that we could not get in with code when arrived. Called 3x to the lodge and got the answering machine all three times. Left a message, never a call back. Finally drove to the lodge to get a code to get into the accommodations. Over every threshold and where the fireplace is was a tripping hazard. The next morning when we went to cook, there was food stuck on pans or pans all rusted out. Wiring and cords were hanging everywhere, no smoke detector, and when we did the jacuzzi after hitting the big clump of ice at the bottom , obviously indicating a leak. There is no way that this a cabin is for four people. There is no where to sit and eat. With a truck it was difficult to maneuver through, without a truck it would be difficult to maneuver through. There was privacy for bedroom area or bathroom. Since windows had no window covering and as soon as the sun came up the light broke through the windows. We have stayed at different cabins several times here and have never had such an experience, lack of cleanliness and unnecessary clutter. Honestly for the money this experience would make us rethink returning to Lydia Mountain Lodge.
