El Matador is truly a beach resort. Just two miles down Santa Rosa Blvd at the end of the Island you will find us – secluded but still just a few minutes to all the amenities that Destin and Fort Walton Beach have to offer. Just six miles down Hwy. 98 you can enjoy Destin – “ The Worlds Luckiest Fishing Village” – charter a private trip or take the kids out on a group boat and catch dinner. While in Destin enjoy fine restaurants, shopping, and golfing on some of the best golf courses in the Panhandle of Florida. Hard to believe that you might need a day off from the beach but if you do take the family to Big Kahunas Water Park in the center of old Destin. Much more than just a water park… it’s a day of fun!

Back at the El Matador enjoy the large grass areas between our buildings just right for family fun and games. With two pools, his and her whirlpool, and saunas just right for your tired muscles after a game of tennis on one of our courts, or in our fitness center. We are located at the end of Okaloosa Island a small barrier Island between Fort Walton Beach and Destin. This gated community with thirteen miles of undeveloped beaches to the west is sure to have you longing to return.

Happy family!

We had a short stay but we enjoyed it very much! It was our first time down there! It was beautiful each day! And the room was dated but worked out just fine for us!

Very nice quiet area with beautiful beach. Unit was very clean but could use some updating. The complex was very clean and well kept as well as very spacious green space.

My birthday trip

The property was fine i requested beachfront an it wasnt. The kitchen was poorly stocked with utensils an cookware. The property was nice the beach was beautiful it was a nice little walk to the beach which im not use to. I would recommend it

The ceiling where nasty , bath and kitchen . Only a few outlets worked . Hole place very out dated wasn’t worth the money we paid

Unit 122 Needs updating!

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was somewhat unhappy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Unit 122 needs updating. The carpet need to be taken up and removed and replaced with Tile. The master bedroom mattress has a huge dip in the middle and need to be replaced .The master bedroom toilet would not flush completely. I had to call to report the issue we had to set up a date and time for a plumber to come out. He wasn’t able to fix because they would have to turn the water off of the whole building. This plumber appointment altered my plans for that. There was black spots on the door from the shower area. Over all the unit 122 I would give 2 out of 3. The refrigerator was great and cold. This condo is at the end of the strip.

We were not in a building right next to the beach, but it wasn't much of a walk at all, just across the parking lot. Family friendly place. Not a crowded beach. Very nice employees working the entrances when you got there. When I had a question before arriving the people answering the phones at Alicia Hollis were polite and helpful. Love to come back!!

We have stayed on 1st floors and they were in better condition. It was disappointing to have to call for third TV in 2nd bedroom, but a TV was installed on the second day.I have always RECOMMENED other families but will not recommend that UNIT 122

A few tips: stop at reality for keys and meal plan around a skillet

Excellent location and beautiful views! This property had a couple things that we expected and didn’t have. A vacuum or dustpan (broom but no dust pan), a set of pots and pans, and silverware. We didn’t check the cabinets before we made our first grocery run and became inventive with the one skillet and the one fork. We also weren’t aware that the check-in location was a different “office” than the property “office.” There were a few things that I would have cleaned but overall this is a great property! The views and location made up for the MINOR inconveniences of key pickup and unstocked kitchen.
