- This property is managed by a family-owned cleaning company that charges no cleaning fees, yet provides all necessary professional details!
- The property manager lives on-site in a separate home (about 30 feet from the rental home, separated by the largely overgrown backyard promoting privacy and habitat for songbirds and honeybees). As such, the backyard is not intended for guest use
- Geckos may be present, due to the location of this property. They are not harmful and are a natural form of pest control
- Maid service is available for an additional fee and can be arranged through the Guest Contact
- This unit is in a residential neighborhood abutting the undeveloped Kolaoa, Hawaiian Home Land Preserve. As such, the neighborhood is home to various wild birds you will hear throughout the day and peep frogs you will hear at night. Wild goats often roam the neighborhood but are extremely shy and will quickly run back to the preserve when they detect human presence. Neighbors also keep chickens and roosters that you will hear throughout the day. Those who find the sound of roosters crowing annoying, along with the delightful wild songbirds, may want to rent elsewhere

- Quiet hours shall be from 9:00 pm to 8:00 am, during which time the noise from the rental shall not unreasonably disturb adjacent neighbors

Very nice rental house !!!

My family had a wonderful experience staying at this rental house. We had a fantastic view of the Pacific Ocean and the airport while relaxing at the deck in the afternoons/early evenings. As expected there were those green geckos everywhere - we think they are sooo cute !!! We are thankful that the Kelly (property manager) allowed us to stay a little bit longer before we checked out! We will definitely recommend this rental house to our friends who spends their vacation in Kona!!!

Nothing fancy

But totally adequate for a place to clean up and sleep at the end of the day. You get what you pay for... we were looking for something 'reasonable' and with the conveniences of home as we like having a fridge, stove and laundry. I will check to see if it's available next time we head to the island!

As soon as we arrived, I knew this place was going to be NOT AS ADVERTISED! Yard was a mess. Stairs to front door were falling apart. Outside was cooler than inside, even with windows open, but the mosquitos made it impossible to be outside for too long. Deck was filthy. The downstairs trash was overflowing. Only 2 stove burners worked. Fridge door broken. Very old and outdated home. Worst home I’ve stayed in.

Poop in tub

This place gets you there and then after seeing it, you realize you it is terribly expensive to go somewhere else the same day. There is poop from animals in the tub, 20+ bug traps everywhere. There was no hand soap in the bathroom, no soap nor paper towels in the kitchen, no sponge. The stove has a burner inop and the other you have to light with a match, the top part is broke, hanging by wires. We sent a message asking to confirm there was laundry, was told in writing yes, nope. The towels smell quite funny and are very worn out. Location, the place is surrounded by roosters, at about 4:30 am they start. Close the windows right? Nope, most windows are so corroded that they cannot be adjusted, the others are missing glass, yep just a screen.

Hi Jonathan, we take guest feedback seriously and passed your comments on to the homeowner who would like to share the following: We are very sorry you did not thoroughly enjoy your stay in our home. Your reported experience starkly differs from the vast majority of guest reviews. The home is professionally cleaned between every single guest visit and all amenities are restocked. While the cleaners normally do an outstanding job, they may have overlooked something preceding your arrival. Regardless, your concerns would have been promptly addressed had you simply contacted the property manager. She would also have shown you the laundry room on the ground floor - the door you walked by every time you entered and left the property. Despite what you seem to insinuate, no safety hazards exist in this home. Nonetheless, we continue to improve this home to further heighten the vacation experience enjoyed by so many of our guests. Yes, a neighbor has a rooster, but the songs of exotic birds during daylight hours are what most guests remember. In summary, thank you for taking the time to share your review despite the utter absence of positive observations. We will use it to help guide future improvements to the home.

not so good

Where to start, was it clean...VERY, when we had to contact Kelly when we needed supplies, was she prompt...VERY. The beds were Very comfortable. But... then on check in we were told the lock box was under the basketball hoop.. no hoop and we couldn't get the lock box to work. The house was left open with the key on the desk and we had to take it everyday with us. I don't know why we bothered locking the door . It was the least secure house I have ever stayed in. The window, crank out slat windows were missing some of the glass and the screens were barely hanging in. The sliding door is pretty sad shape. The new porch was nice but all the debris was still laying around the house. Take a weeks payment and pay someone to clean it up. It was dark when we got there and it was hard to see where to walk until my husband found the motion sensor on the lights and fixed it so it would come on. The view was pretty good, quiet neighborhood. If you are not use to listening to wildlife dont stay here. Goats , pigs, Chickens, frogs, birds, we didn't have a problem with any of that. We live in the country. The pictures you show all need to be updated. Not what the house looks like now. It would have been nice to know that the laundry was shared. Scared us when we heard the door open and close and then smelled the laundry late in the evening. Didn't know who was using it. HOT,, is was very hot and only two fans that if we sat anywhere in the house we had to move fans. Way too hot to cook in there. The fridge door sounds and feels like it is going to fall off. And the stove front burner doesnt work per sign on it. Only on the last day did we see any bugs in the house,, the geckos werent working to good and unfortunately it was a roach. We mainly just slept there and for that it was just ok. I would not stay there again.

From the owner: "Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at our home. We're very glad you noticed how clean the home is and the prompt responsiveness of the property manager. I'm very confident she would have just as promptly repaired the motion sensor had you told her it was not working - regardless we very much appreciate your husband fixing it. We continue to invest capital in this property at a measured pace to improve guest experiences. New replacement windows are on order for the living room and both bedrooms - primarily to improve airflow - security is not a problem in this neighborhood. You are correct, the photos on Evolve are old - they do not reflect all the improvements (new lanai, lanai furniture, new french door onto the lanai, etc.). Kelly will submit updated photos for Evolve to upload, and she will promptly organize the remaining construction materials behind the house. She will also place a note in the guest book stating the bottom floor laundry room is occasionally used by the property manager. The property is routinely treated by a professional pest control company. Some neighbors have chickens and roosters, and occasionally wild goats wander into the neighborhood from the nearby nature preserve. But most guests find the exotic birds and their songs very appealing. Thank you again for your thoughtful review - it reaffirms the priorities we selected in our capital investment plan."

Breezy Kailua-Kona Bungalow

Stay was really great. House was accessible to all important events I was in Kona for. All the comforts of home except for one problem. No working stove. The Property Manager did leave a note to apologize for the digital panel not working and one burner not working. We were able to finish making dinner on the last remaining working burner. The Property Manager was readily accessible. Aside from that, we enjoyed the house and our stay in Kona.

Anticipation of return

I had the pleasure of staying here in November of 2019. My first time to any island of Hawaii. This home had a warm and cozy feel at the moment you walked in. From the "Welcome" basket filled with goodies (the fresh whole pineapple was my favorite) to the layout of the house, I knew Id never want to leave. The outside deck was under a bit of contruction, however, in no way were there any obstacles, physically or visually, to get around. The pastel colors of the AM sunrise, vibrant colors of every sunset and the illumination of the water by the overnight moon, were never obstructed. So for me, the minor deck repairs, did not hinder my ability to enjoy every minute of being there and actually made me excited to return to see the upgrades. Exploring the big island was a treasure trove of events to say the least for this first timer. Highly recommend this home away from home as you cannot help but be at peace here.

Incredible stay

This was a much needed getaway for a friend and myself. We could not have made a better choice to stay here. After a long direct flight from Boston we were greeted with a quick process of getting our rental vehicle and were at the address of the house within 10 minutes and that is a very conservative number as it was honestly about 5 minutes. Dropped off our luggage so we could take a ride to the grocery store. When we walked in we could not have asked for anything better. Fresh linens on the beds and towels in the bathroom as well as an aloha gift basket of fruits, snacks and a pound of Kona coffee. Soo good. Lol. Everything was spotless. There was a bit of construction going on but that was just adding to the property and its beauty that was clear is something that the owner is constantly striving to level up. We met the contractor who normally wouldn't show up for work until we were gone for the day and would try to be gone before we got home. On this particular day we were just relaxing and were still there when he should up. He gave us some insight to the culture and some things to see while we were there. Couldnt have been any friendlier and a great tour guide. Our hostess checked on us a few times thru the week just to make sure we were all set and see if we needed anything. Sunsets over the airport were spectacular and the sunrises that weren't even on our side of the island were a mural of pastel colors that couldn't let me sleep in (the only con of the week) for fear of missing it. We Highly recommend staying here for an inbelievable island experience. We WILL be back. THANK YOU!!!

Construction Site

We arrived to an empty house that was under construction with chipboard hoarding all around the deck and access stairway. There was no view from the deck which looks lovely in your photo but not in reality. I have photos if you would like to see what we encountered. The outside was a construction site with garbage everywhere. The neighbourhood kids were making ramps for their bikes under the deck. Many things were broken in the house - stove, toilet, doors, locks -- and poorly maintained and repaired where there had been an effort to fix things. We were unable to reach the manager by phone - her mailbox was full and not taking new messages. There was no effort on her part to apologize for the state of the house and deck. The laundry room was a disaster - filthy with occupation by animals - and someone came early in the morning to use it - slamming doors as she did. We were really disappointed and cannot think why some communication with apologies was not offered. I am only sorry for the people who were checking in that afternoon.

Marta, the homeowner would like to thank you for your feedback and share the following message: "One improvement currently in-progress is the replacement of the entire deck and railing - it is the only construction. The new Trex deck was completely installed by the time you arrived and our contractor has already started installing the new cable railing system. The lanai portion of the cable railing is finished and looks terrific. You're correct about construction materials being staged on the side of the house, but it is only visible from the driveway and not from the lanai or living quarters. Our intent has always been to update the photos of the lanai after both the new deck and railing were installed, which will be completed this week. The ocean view from the deck has improved since the old website photos were uploaded due to the removal of two trees that were interfering with access for construction. Many other upgrades are similarly not yet depicted on the website photos. The property manager will investigate your complaints about the doors, and locks. As for the stove, only 1 of 5 burners doesn't work. Also, the toilet has always worked fine if you follow the sign directing you to hold the handle until the flush is completed. We have had no complaints before or since about these items. This is the first complaint I've had on property manager accessibility. The history and reviews show the property manager has been extremely accessible and prompt in addressing complaints. Regardless, the property manager appreciates the frank feedback and has promised to redouble attentiveness. Additionally, no pets or animals are allowed to stay at this property and we've confirmed that there are none in the laundry room. This house is offered for rental at very reasonable rates and is well worth the cost. The property manager does a great job staying on top of anything that breaks, ensuring the house is professionally cleaned prior to the arrival of each new guest, and ensuring the property is professionally treated for pest control monthly. The property is maintained to facilitate a clean, safe, and enjoyable guest experience." Best, the Evolve Team

Beware! Extremely disappointed

We were very excited to stay at this property after seeing the photos and reading the description. However, our actual stay left us disappointed. A few hours before our arrival, we received an email saying that the lanai is being rebuilt, although functional. I wish this was communicated with me earlier so I would not be shocked to come home to a vacation rental with construction materials and an unfinished lanai. Kitchen/living room: This area of the house was the most pleasant. The pantry and fridge had some essentials and eliminated the need to go shopping for some small items. The dining table and couch provided ample seating and a place to relax. Bedrooms: We were most disappointed with the bedrooms. Both rooms no longer have blinds (unlike the pictures advertised) and the one bedroom that shows a headboard does not have one. The worst part is that several of the glass window shutters were broken or missing. This isn't a problem when it's warm but it can get windy / cool in the evenings. Recommendations to the owner(s) - please update the photos and description of your listing.

Quiet street, comfortable, good amenities.

Location was great for us while we explored the drier side of the island. Living spaces and bedrooms were comfortable and nicely decorated. The deck was under-construction (Nov 2019) so the deck looked nothing like the pictures, felt like we were in a box. If we would have known we would have picked a different place to rent as it was a selling point for us. Looks like it will be nice when completed, confirm with the owner before renting if it is an attraction for you. Neighborhood was quiet, everyone seemed friendly. Short 15-20 min drive to Kona, 30-35 to Captain Cook. Liked how the house was in-between 19 and 190 for driving options. Check in was easy, communication with Kelly regarding checkout was also easy. Kitchen was supplied with everything we needed to make meals, the cooler, snorkel and boogie board equipment was in good condition and very helpful.

Close to airport

I rented this property because it was close to the airport. I was off the plane, bags claimed, car rented and at the house within 30 minutes of landing. Kailua is 10-15 minutes away. The house is very open, and breezes cool it off very well at night without air conditioning. We really appreciated the washer and dryer. Whenever I emailed the property manager, she responded right away. I would stay here again.

Nette Ferienwohnung mit sehr guter Lage

Die Ferienwohnung liegt nur 10 min vom Flughafen entfernt, ist sehr ruhig und hat einen fantastischen Blick von der Terasse aus. Zu den schönsten Stränden fährt man 30-40 min. Wir haben die Zeit hier sehr genossen . Vor allem Kelly (Gästekontaktperson) war super hilfsbereit und freundlich. Er einzige Pubktabzug gibt es bei der Sauberkeit der Wohnung.

We felt that the property was a little run down. The yard was littered and unattractive.

We enjoyed our stay. The view was great. Most everything was good in the unit. Some windows were missing screens. The patio screen was falling off. The overhead lights in the bedrooms didn't work? Bathroom and shower were fine. Overall the unit needs some maintenance to spruce it up.

Fantastic house and great jumping off point to Big Island sights

This place is really great in many ways, including the layout and the comfy lanai. Its location about half way up the hill in Kalaoa makes it easy to get down the beaches north and south of Kona, up to Kohala/Waimea, or to hop up to the saddle road and over to Hilo. It's also close to the airport which is convenient if you are getting in late or leaving early. Kelley and James are awesome people and responded very quickly to help us out on our first day. I would definitely stay here again! Mahalo!

Great Times and Vibes in Kona, Hawaii!!

Perfect location and great host!!

Awesome location between Kona town, airport and coffee farms. Great host Kelly who made all the difference! She was super hospitable on requests and info.... unit exactly as advertised and pictured.

Lovely house. Had all the needed house item to make it comfortable. Dryer needed attention.

We enjoyed our stay. Our host had the house in ready to move in condition. It was not lacking anything. The deck was fabulous to enjoy breakfast in the mornings with the view as well as the evenings. The dryer down stairs needs some attention. The heating element was not up to par.
