escape from heatwave

despite unexpected heatwave in June, we enjoyed the stay as the property had acs for every bedroom and 2 for the living room. large samsung tv allowed us to easily share photos from iphone at the wnd of each day. multiple choices of grocery stores nearby let us take full advantage of the kitchen.

Beautiful, private country retreat

My family and our two dogs, stayed here for the Christmas holiday while visiting extended family. This country home was spacious, beautifully renovated and located in a private wooded setting. It was very clean and well stocked with all the essentials. It snowed before we arrived and the host had the driveway cleared and the walkways and stairs well salted. The Empire State Trail is a short 5 minute walk from the home, making it a perfect getaway for runners, cyclists and walkers. My family and I enjoyed several winter runs and walks. Shopping at ACME and restaurants (we had dinner at the Carriage House) are a short 10 minute drive, as well as Thunder Ridge ski resort.The host was very responsive and checked in with us several times during our stay.I gave the home four stars for location only because the driveway is located on the curve of a windy, main road. It is low traffic, but follow the host’s instructions for entering and exiting the property, use the mirror and listen for cars coming around the bend. Also, the home sits on a hill and both entrances require navigating stairs. Otherwise, the home earned five stars in all other areas! Thank you for the wonderful stay and holiday memories!

Wonderful house

We absolutely enjoyed our stay at this house! It was clean. It was updated. The beds were comfortable. There was enough space for all of our family. We had almost everything we needed for our home. The home is great to stay in!However, when we booked, the description was still being defined. We were unaware, at the time of booking, of the updated dog restrictions that would be in place during our stay. Dogs are not allowed on furniture, which makes sense to us. However, they are not allowed in bedrooms either, which we were not accustomed to. Also, there are restrictions as to where your dog can and cannot relieve themselves outside. There’s a very small pet relief area, and signs in all the other areas of the yard that dogs are not allowed there. That may be fine for a small dog, or dogs that don't need walks. There is NO space to walk dogs on the property and the street is extremely busy and completely unsafe for walking a dog.There is a walking path about a three minute drive away. It’s a 40 mile trail, which would be great for walking a dog, if you want to drive yourself and your dog there.Overall, we enjoyed the house and would enjoy a stay there again.

Thank you for your review. I'm glad you found the house clean and spacious for your family. I will attest that to the rules I do have in place for pets. You are the first to feel otherwise. Dog walking area is over 200 x 100 feet of walking space probabaly more cause it litterally the who driveway area. Restricted areas are the common areas where family can eat, play, sit and enjoy. I think It would be unkind for other family's to have to smell urine or anything left behind by family with pets. Being an owner of a Rottweiler and a black lab myself they very much enjoy running around on the property and find it very easy to relieve themselves in the proper place. Furthermore having a full living room sunroom kitchen litterally the whole first floor to lay, run and sleep in there beds. I hope other guest with bogs can enjoy the same.
