Step from your porch onto the soft white sand & crystal clear water.

Rake n Scrape is a quaint bungalow on the beautiful two mile long beach of Spanish Wells. Evoking the feel of an old beach cottage but with modern amenities like air conditioning, TV and wifi. Enjoy your morning coffee or happy hour on your private deck overlooking the water, listening to the sound of the waves washing on the shore. You won't want to leave!
Many guests say they enjoy the enclosed outdoor shower so much they even used either of the indoor showers! The water is so clear with a soft, white sandy bottom that is perfect for swimming or using the included kayaks and paddle boards. In the heart of the quaint lobster fishing town of Spanish Wells, food and liquor stores are very walkable, but we recommend renting a buggy (golf cart) to explore the island and adjoining Russell Island. Lounge chairs, kayaks and paddle boards are included.

Clean and quaint accommodation in a wonderful location. It was wonderful to sit on the back deck right next to the beach. We used the paddleboards and kayaks every day. The hosts were friendly and very easy to communicate with. We can’t wait to return.

Pure bliss

This is our second stay at Rake N Scrape, and we are already looking to plan our next vacation there. The house has everything you need, the beds are comfortable, and the beach is peaceful. The property manager, Vince, was so nice and met us at the docks, made sure we knew everything about the house, and brought us the most delicious mangoes. Spanish Wells is a beautiful island, and we look forward to visiting it again.

We had never been to Spanish Wells and loved every minute of it. A large part of our enjoyment was having such a beautiful and nice place to stay. Everything about Rake n Scrape was comfortable and exceptionally clean. Just as seen on the listing...and better!

Calm and Beautiful

We loved this darling cottage. The location was perfect, just steps from the most calming bay. Inside, the beds were very comfortable and we enjoyed the interesting and laidback decor.Vince and Lori were great. Vince met us at the water taxi dock to show us to the cottage and helped us work out a plan when our incoming flight got switched to a different airport. We wish we could have stayed longer.

Absolute Paradise

This place was a dream!! It was truly amazing. The location was perfect! I absolutely loved how we could step out our back door and be directly in the sand! The little back deck with the palm trees over it was perfect. The exact location on the beach was awesome. We enjoyed the sandbar, the kayaks, the paddleboard, the outdoor shower, everything was great! the pictures are completely accurate about everything. It is not big or fancy, but it is a perfect little Bohemian cottage and it was exactly what we needed. We did not come to the Bahamas to be indoors, but when we were, we were comfortable. We came to the Bahamas to enjoy the beauty of the beach and the water and we did exactly that this week! All the communication was perfect and we had a dream of a trip. Thank you so much!

Best place we’ve stayed in the Bahamas

We travel with another couple for our Caribbean vacation every other year. This year was our fifth year exploring new places in the Bahamas. We all agreed, Spanish Wells and the Rake and Scrape was our favorite place so far. Everything about the place is wonderful, beautiful beach and sandbar, comfortable lodging, convenience, super kind and friendly host- Vince you are great, and thanks to Lori too for all her help with organizing the details. We loved the ocean breeze which keeps things cool and pleasant, so no need for air conditioning during our stay. The only recommendation would be more screens on the windows especially in the back bedroom, for circulation. The island culture is welcoming with good food and friendly people. The golf carts are a fun way to get around the island.. We will definitely be coming back for another stay.

Perfect beach cottage!

This cottage is absolutely perfect - decorated to feel beachy and fun and has all the essentials. The beach is literally in the front yard, and a sand bar provides the perfect protected beach. We walked the mile loop on the sand bar every day at low tide and at high tide. Vince is a terrific host and treated us to fresh coconuts from the property. The house is a short walk (or golf cart ride) from the islands restaurants and groceries. It's an ideal low-key beach vacation. We will definitely be back!

Little piece of paradise

I can’t say enough great things about our stay! The owners and caretakers were amazing! They communicated with us from the minute we inquired about the property all the way through check out. They gave great recommendations of where to book golf carts, places to eat and things to do. They even helped coordinate our arrival with a taxi and ferry to and from the island, and when our flight home got cancelled they went above and beyond to accommodate us another night. We LOVED the house, the location and Spanish Wells. A little piece of me is still there and we will be coming back again!

Family Christmas Trip

Amazing place!

We loved Rake n Scrape! Like others have mentioned, the house is not large, but it is thoughtfully laid out and very clean (bedding, towels, great mattresses, etc). We loved the reclaimed ship teak kitchen counter top and the old wood shutters. The location of the house is great - close to everything in town and yet beachfront. The water in front of the house is shallow and the sandbar (also directly in front of the house) was perfect for our 3 year old to walk with us and explore. On a very minor clarifier, the VRBO listing mentioned “cable tv / basic cable” which we assumed would be Cable Bahamas like we have had at other houses in Spanish Wells, but it was just a web enabled Visio tv with apps. We wanted to watch college football bowl games but had a hard time bc streaming apps wouldn’t let us watch network tv (ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC due to Bahamas location / VPN didn’t solve it either). Overall, this was one of the best houses / vacations we have ever had! We will definitely return to this house again!!

Great family spot with paradise in your backyard!

Our family of four enjoyed every minute of our time at Rake N Scrape. Vince was great. The views were great. The island was incredible. We especially enjoyed relaxing in the chairs on the back deck. I hope we make it back soon and will stay in this spot again.

Awesome stay

We absolutely loved our time at Rake n Scrape! The location is amazing, right on the most beautiful beach in Spanish Wells. And the liquor store is right across the street! The house had everything we needed during our stay. The kayaks were such a great bonus for us. I loved watching the sunrise on the deck while drinking my morning coffee. Lori was very easy to work with, and even helped arrange the airport and water taxi. Spanish Wells is a very laid back vacation spot and we hope to visit again and definitely stay at the Rake n Scrape!

A perfect vacation

Lori and Vince are the most wonderful hosts. Lori took care of all arrangements for transport to/from the airport as well as helping us with a golf cart rental on the island. The property was perfect for 2 couples. It has a nautical theme and is very comfortable. Lori and Vince made sure we knew how to get around, find stores and restaurants. Our stay at the beach and on the island was really good. We had personal attention and help when we needed it and felt very welcome.

The views! Unique position on the beach allows for spectacular views in both directions on the beach as well as the ocean. Watch cruise ships, yachts and other large ships pass in the ocean just beyond the reef or watch the sandbar emerge from the water at low tide. Sunsets are our favorite time on the deck, but morning coffee watching the sun rise over Eleuthera is pretty special too.
