Main Beach Cottage Description

This charming beach front cottage was built with family activities in mind. The layout provides ample space for large family gatherings and, conversely, offers multiple areas for kids to play and adults to relax. A large portion of the first floor faces the beach and has an open design where the kitchen, dining area and family room flow together creating a spacious great room. The first floor also has a bedroom, full bathroom with shower and separate laundry area for added convenience. An extra wide staircase, leading to the upstairs, has hand rails positioned at two different heights for the safety of adults and small children.

A fun atmosphere abounds on the second floor. Kids love playing on the swing, the wall to wall suspended netting, and the rope ladder. The second floor also has a master bedroom and a bunkroom, each opening to a balcony deck with incredible views of the ocean. Both bedrooms have a private bathroom with double pedestal sinks and a deep soaker tub. The master bedroom has a king size bed and the bunk room has two sets of built-in bunk beds. Also on the second floor are two semi private sleeping areas. One area is situated with two twin beds and the other area has a twin bed.

Much of the furniture in the cottage was hand crafted out of salvaged material from local ship wrecks and the artwork throughout was done by Michael Cashmore Hingley, whose artwork is featured on numerous buildings throughout Spanish Wells. The cottage is appointed with all of the needed amenities; broad band wireless internet access, cable TV, flat screen TVs, washer, dryer, microwave, dishwasher, stove, oven, refrigerator with ice dispenser/water and six- zone climate control for ultimate comfort throughout the entire cottage.

Comfort and convenience continues in the outdoor living areas. The covered, ocean side deck, running the entire width of the cottage, has Adirondack chairs and indirect lighting that is perfect for nighttime viewing of passing cruise ships and star gazing. Steps from the ocean side deck lead to an outdoor shower on the side of the cottage. This is the first stop for most guests returning from the beach where they can enjoy a clean rinse with welcoming hot and cold water. The covered porch on the inland side also runs the entire width of the cottage. A barbeque grill is located on this porch, which is convenient to the kitchen and assures untimely afternoon showers won’t interrupt dinner preparation. The adjacent lower level deck, is a nice, protected alternative if the wind is blowing hard out of the North or East.

The property spills onto a spectacular sandy beach with crystal clear, shallow, safe, warm water. The beach is protected by beautiful barrier coral reefs which tame large waves and prevent dangerous rip tides. The warm, calm water provides endless hours of entertainment for the whole family, to include snorkeling and fishing. There is a fish cleaning table with running water near the water’s edge, making it convenient to quickly clean any fish that are caught. If just hanging out and relaxing is your thing you will enjoy the hammock that is shaded by palm trees and cooled by ocean breezes.

Situated on 12th Street, the cottage location on Spanish Wells is ideal and is within easy walking distance to shops, restaurants, churches and grocery stores.

Optional Guest Cottage

A recently added guest cottage on the property is now available for rent in conjunction with main beach house rental. This nicely appointed two-level guest cottage offers an additional bedroom with king-size bed plus two bathrooms (one with an indoor shower and the other with a private outdoor shower). The guest cottage also includes a kitchen, dining room and living room and would be perfect for grandparents, aunts, uncles or friends of your family. The cottage is for adults only with a max of two occupants. The nightly charge for the guest cottage is $150 per night plus a $150 cleaning fee.
