- South Shore 35 -This spacious home features a large sunken living room and stunning ocean views. South Shore 35 has four bedrooms, four bathrooms, a fully stocked kitchen, and a large beachfront lanai with plenty of spots for dining and relaxing. The ocean side of the home has multiple sliding doors that can be opened completely to the outdoors and trade winds. Other amenities include central air conditioning, beachfront jacuzzi, ultra high-speed Wi-Fi (up to 400 Mbps), televisions in every bedroom, plenty of on-site parking, and a BBQ grill. This is a private house; no other home, tenant, or caretaker is on this property. The house sleeps a maximum of 10 guests. Please see below for a detailed description of the bedrooms.

- The Beach - The beachfront side of the home has a grass yard that spills down to a private beach, accessible only by the few upscale homes located nearby. The water is calm and shallow, making it perfect for those with little ones in tow. Stand-up boarding and kayaking are excellent here, and you may find yourself paddling alongside schools of fish, manta rays, sea turtles, and even dolphins. To swim, simply put on reef shoes and walk past the coral until you reach deep water. Fishing is great in the shallow coral area. In the summer season, you can surf in front of the house at the break known as "Secrets".

- The Neighborhood - Hawaii Kai is an upscale residential neighborhood in eastern Honolulu. It is very safe and family-friendly. Nearby, you will find plenty of grocery stores, including Whole Foods and Costco, drug stores, casual dining, upscale restaurants, and local boutiques. Haunama Bay is a few minutes down the street for snorkeling. Other nearby activities include hiking, parasailing, jet skiing, hang gliding, and golfing. The home is located close to major highway access, so it is a convenient starting point for day trips. Waikiki is 7 miles away, the airport is 13 miles away, and Pearl Harbor is 16 miles.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The kitchen utensils were pretty minimal. We could have used a pizza pan, pizza cutter, bowls, 9x13” dish, Tupperware for leftovers, etc. We liked the two fridges and the house was laid out nicely. Water temp and pressure were very good. We seemed to have quite a few bugs. There was also a strobe type light that flashed off and on into the rooms on the east side of the house.

House was great but a few things could use improvement. There was only one hand towel across 4 bathrooms, and while we found a different coffee pot stashed in a closet, the one on the counter was a 4-cup pot! This for a house that was for 9 people. Our biggest problem tho, was a really bright outdoor security motion light on the neighbors house that shone directly into one of the bedrooms of our house, going off and on all night long. We eventually covered the window in foil, but we shouldn’t have had to do anything. It was a bad situation. Other than those issues, we really liked the house. It was a good space for 3 separate families. Beach view was good, and outdoor seating was comfortable. Parking was ok considering we had 3 cars.

Hello Holly, I am sorry for the issues you had during your stay. We would have been happy to deliver more hand towels. We will look into another coffee pot and definitly see what we can do about asking the neighbor to redirect the light. We appreciate your input. Wonderful beach house. My family of 10 stayed her for a week and it was perfect for us. Location and view can’t be beat. I would absolutely stay again if we all come back to the island. No complaints at all.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This house was a great fit for our extended family vacation. We ranged from a 1 year old to a 70 year old. The house is on the beach which was perfect for the little ones, and the location away from Waikiki made it more of a quiet retreat. It is located on a main road, but that wasn't a problem for us. The house itself has been partially updated and is fine, but wouldn't be considered super luxurious. It has a large living room that allowed everyone to gather for meals and evening chats. Overall I would recommend the house for groups our size wanting a well located house.

We stayed at the Grand Lanai, not the property listed here but it was about a mile east of it. It was truly a dream. the house was amazing, the beach perfect. We happened to be there right after the rains (we arrived 1 day after a brown water advisory was lifted for Oahu), but most of the time the water was clear and swimable. The beach abutted Wailupe beach and it was absolutely perfect for our 6 kids to frolic in (with beach shoes). I took my 6 year old 100 yards in the ocean and it remained quite shallow and you could see a lot of fish. We saw a puffer Fish , several tangs, and we even had a 600 lb monk seal sun himself on the shore one day. If are really expecting to swim or surf, the Wailupe beach area may not be right for you. it was amazing to reef walk and explore the animals, but the waves break probably 1/2 mile off shore and it didn't get more than 3 feet deep until 300 yards at least off shore. You would need to go far out or pick a different beach to surf from.

This house was perfect for our family of 8. Beautiful, plenty of towels, & linen. Very roomy and clean. A/C worked very well. Beach just steps away, enjoyed coffee & the sunrise. Enjoyed the hot tub. Beach has some seaweed but still great. Very relaxing. Drive 20-25 minutes East and spend time in beautiful beaches, less crowds. We would stay here again!

The house is in a good location, the beach access was very nice, and we enjoyed the hot tub, which worked well. The house was also very roomy and gave our group of nine plenty of space.However, there were several issues during our stay. The outlets in the primary bedroom did not work, several of the fans provided in the house were broken, and the TV remotes had low batteries and often would not work. Since it rained the entire time we were there, we spent more time inside than planned, so the TV issues were especially frustrating.The house also seemed understocked for a group of our size. There were no washcloths anywhere in the house, very limited bath towels, and very few kitchen towels. In addition, one of the tiles in the sunroom actually fell off while we were staying there, which was concerning and made us feel the property could use better maintenance. We also bought food to bake during our stay, but the oven was not functioning properly and would not allow us to cook it.Overall, the location, beach access, hot tub, and spacious layout were definite positives, but given the maintenance issues and lack of basic supplies, we did not feel the house was a good value for the price.

We are very sorry for any inconveniences you experienced during your stay. The time of the visit was unfortunately during extreme high wind and rains which caused power outages and internet disruption which would have caused issues with appliances and tvs. We are also sorry about the lack of wash cloths, which we have remedied and wished we had had a chance to address any issues during your stay. All tv remotes have been stocked with new batteries and the sky light tiles have been checked to make sure that they are all secure.
