Wake up to front-row views from this newly renovated, oceanfront end-unit condo. Enjoy spacious open-concept living with a cozy electric fireplace, four private decks, and access to a heated pool, year-round hot tub, beachside fire-pit and boat moorage at the private dock.

Sleeps up to six people with two bedrooms with queen beds and a queen sofa bed in the living room. Two full bathrooms upstairs and down.

This resort is located on 3.5 acres of expansive green space in rural, cottage country near Cedar, BC . We're 20 minutes either way to Ladysmith or Nanaimo, 10 minutes to the airport, and it's a 15 minute drive to hop on the ferries to the mainland.

Enjoy local fare nearby at the Crow and Gate English pub and take in the beautiful gardens, or try fine dining at the Mahle House or grab some pizza and beer at the Wheatsheaf. Take some time to get fresh groceries at the local farmer's market and visit the numerous local artisan shops and galleries nearby.

Ideal for singles, couples, families and friends looking for a memorable seaside getaway.

We were so happy with this condo and area. The grounds and buildings are very well maintained and the grounds staff and managers are very friendly and helpful. The area is amazing and there are so many hikes you can do that are within 15 minute drive if the condo!!

Exceptional view but in need of some TLC

The most impressive aspect of this unit in a multi-condo property is its exceptional and unobstructed view over the water! The interior and equipment could benefit from some renovation. Be aware that the location is quite isolated, so bring your groceries with you since the closest large grocery store are about 20 minutes away. Overall, we had a very nice stay at that property!

Needs a lot of work!

This property is dated and dirty. The whole condo needs painting. The dishwasher doesn’t work, the carpets are filthy. Half the chairs are broken. Inside the kitchen cupboards is very dirty, full of crumbs, droppings etc. Musty smell. Stair carpets not vacuumed. No bar soap in the bathroom. It should not be rented again until these things are fixed

What a view - Unforgettable Stay

It's like going to grandma's cabin, with all that goes with it – a homey feel, wicker furniture, and tons of 80's style mirrors. There are also odds and ends that could use updating, including some outlets that don't work. Not to mention the dog hair. The place is generally tidy (although there was a pile of dog food in the upstairs closet when we arrived), and if you have a pet you probably won't notice the smell and coating of dog hair. For us who don't, it wasn't ideal. Also the blinds only sort of block the light, so you're up at sunrise and your kids won't sleep before sunset. You may want to bring a sleeping mask. Despite that, being twenty yards from the ocean, and the stunning view makes you forget all about it. There is tons of wildlife in the ocean and along the beach, the pool is awesome, and the kids had fun on the tennis court. It was a wonderful stay and we'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Awesome place, but communication with owner could be improved

My family and I have stayed at Inn of the Sea for a week in the summer for few years now, each year bringing a bunch of friends out, so we we’ve experienced a number of units and property managers. In summary: this unit could be easily be one of the best units on the property, but communication with Scott the property manager was tricky at times. First: the unit. Located at the south end of the top floor of the ocean-side building, the views are unparalleled. It is also one of the more centrally located units so you’re never far from the pool, dock, tennis court, or other units. If you’re lucky the Wi-Fi will reach the pool, which is great because cell service at the property is spotty. Many of the units at Inn of the Sea are somewhat dated, and this one in no exception. While it comes with everything you need, there are no bells and whistles that many other units include. With this unit, what you see in the listing is what you get. Next: check-in and communication with the host (Scott). I am a short term rental host (on another platform) so my critique comes from experience. My main issue is that we arrived at the property with out the check-in info and with no way of accessing the unit. No check-in info had been uploaded to VRBO. Scott hadn’t responded to my VRBO messages requesting the info and I had nothing in my email inbox. After calling him upon arrival, Scott said that he had emailed me the check-in info 2 months previous and that I should check my spam folder. Well, as most do, my spam folder auto-deletes messages after 30 days. I told him that I didn’t have the info, so he gave me the door access code over the phone and we were able to access the unit. Scott never ended up resending me the info, though. We made due because some site info was written down inside the unit and we were already familiar with the property as a whole, but some important details were missing (such as the Wi-Fi password). Luckily, some friends rented this unit last year and were able to share the password with us. I heard from Scott again immediately after our stay to tell us that the cleaners were unhappy to find that we had used the spare set of bed sheets. We were there for 10 days during a heat wave, and there was no indication that the spare sheets were not to be used. Maybe he mentioned it in the email that I never saw, but I couldn’t tell you. Overall: 5-stars for location, 3.5 stars for check-in and communication.

Peaceful

Wonderful property. Perfect location, on the water, stunning sunrises and sunsets, away from the crowds, but close enough to attractions for all. Highly recommend a leisurely stroll through Chemainus to view the murals. Scott and Patricia were great hosts. From the time I made the reservation they were quick and responsive to any concern. We had a minor issue with the wifi TV setup, and Scott had Shaw contact us quickly to resolve the issue. We recommend this property as a true gem.

Best location

Best location at the resort with a large sunny oceanfront deck. The unit is a bit outdated and needing some updates especially the kitchen and bathrooms, but totally liveable and clean. Hoping to book again next year!

Great property

This is a great property, beautiful view, lots of great amenities including pool, tennis court and dock. The place could use a little updating, but the view and location of the unit makes up for it.

The view is everything! The beds were surprisingly comfortable - normally my back aches after a couple nights away from home. The old school “AC” fan was a nice touch on the hot days (keep it full of water). We’d definitely stay here again!

Awesome property

We absolutely loved our 6-month stay here. Scott was so responsive and professional, going to great lengths to get our cable package upgraded so we could get all of the sports channels to serve our passion. The view is absolutely spectacular and the apartment is well appointed. We enjoyed our experience so much that we have booked it again for this fall.

Amazing views and greater memories.

We had an amazing stay, the property had the most amazing views. It was more spacious than imagined and had everything we needed. I loved the retro Florida flair it had. Yes, a few things could be updated, but I actually thought it gave our stay more character and made it me more memorable. We can’t wait to come back.

So disappointed!

Where to begin. Greeted at the entrance to the condo with extensive spider webs. (Inside condo). Worn and beat up is how this place looks. Broken deck chairs, broken baseboards, broken leg on kitchen chair and the place desperately needs a coat of paint. The tiny dishwasher not only doesn’t clean dishes - it is literally falling apart. Wheel missing, rubber lining falling off and most of the cutlery spots are broken beyond being useable. The kitchen overall is not clean. “Clean”dishes and glasses that were in the pantry still had food residue on them. We had to hand wash almost everything before we could even use it. And there is a layer of dust on most things that aren’t in the high traffic areas. For a family of four booking for a week - we ended up with only 3 of us being able to come - You are given 6 rolls of toilet paper, one paper towel, 2 kitchen garbage bags and seven dishwasher tabs. (We went out and bought our own). This was confirmed as intentional by the cleaning lady when she came by to pick up the one thing that worked well in the place. My wife and daughter joked about how the only nice thing in the place is a hair dryer. Actually turned out the last renter had left it behind so maid came to pick it up. A mixed blessing in one of the kids not being able to come on the trip was finding out the pull out couch is also broken. The solution provided is an an air mattress. Seriously! This detail was also told to us by the cleaning lady. I can’t imagine a teenager sleeping on an air mattress for a week - especially at at the price we paid. The deck was disgusting. It was covered in something that made your feet stick to it and appeared to have never been washed - ever. Multiple plug ins throughout unit don’t work. Screen doors are ripped/broken. The cleaning fee isn’t used for cleaning and I would guess not a dime has been spent on maintenance in this condo in years. I could go on and on about how disappointed we were with the condo. The view was beautiful and the pool/beach etc was fantastic - no question - but you can do way better for the amount of money. I’ve stayed in many VRBO properties and this was sadly the bottom of the list.

Great location, dated unit

The location of this unit (top level, facing pool and shoreline) is top notch. The unit itself is fine, but it's pretty dated. Old furniture that's not comfortable (or broken), older appliances that don't work as well as they should, the occasional musty smell that you can't really place. I've seen half a dozen of the 2br units at Inn of the Sea, and this is on the very bottom end of renovations/improvements. We spent most of our time outside so it didn't bother us much, but it's not high on the list of value for money. Otherwise, the kitchen is fairly well stocked, communication was good, internet was good (though it went down a lot), so overall happy with our stay!

Perfect get away

The condo is in a great location, near the pool and close to the water. We enjoyed the swimming pool and our time exploring the beach. The condo very clean and comfortable.

Amazing view

We had a great long weekend away. The check in process was very easy. The host was very quick to answer any questions. The view from the condo was so nice. Amenities (pool, bbq, dock) were great. We had 2 dogs with us and they enjoyed playing in the water and lots of grassy areas for them. Furnishings and appliances at the condo are a bit outdated. The dishwasher does not work very well. No AC in the unit but fans were provided. The pull out couch is not recommended for sleeping on. Thanks for a great mini vacay!

My folks discovered the Inn of the Sea more than 30 years ago on a drive from Victoria to the north Island. They stayed one night and fell in love. The next morning they bought this unit for our family to gather on the coast. We now rent it out to others to enjoy the place we have loved for so many years.
