Absolutely loved our family vacation in this house. The beach is right out the back door. All the little ones loved the Disney theme and we all had a wonderful time. Highly recommend.

Quick weekend getaway

My daughter, son-in-law, husband and I needed a quick getaway from the hustle and bustle of life. This place fit our needs with plenty of space for us all. Duffy the Host was very readily accessible and welcoming, whichI had never experiencedin the past. We are definitely returning for future stays.

Summer beach vacation

We had a great time at this house. I would highly recommend it. It was close to the fort, aquarium, and any needed amenities. The beach location was wonderful as well. Our children had a blast catching crabs and small fish in the tidal pools at low tide. The owner was very responsive and helpful as well.

Great house for a beach vacation for families , The house was very clean , comfortable beds and a well equipped kitchen . Great location right on the beach . Swimming 20 yards from the back porch . Lovely deck overlooking the ocean . 3 pools and a well appointed gym were available . There was ample parking . Landlord was very responsive when a small issue arose and it was immediately taken care of . Very pleased and would definitely return .

We were a group of 13 family members from ages 3 to 75. We love KB but had never stayed at Ocean Dunes before. We absolutely loved the ocean front home. We spent a lot of our time out on the beach and really enjoyed the rocks in front of the house. The natural pools that were made were a hit for all ages. It was great to pull your chair up to the water and to explore the shallow areas for shells and shark teeth. The house itself was perfect for our crew. It was big enough that we could all have our own space or be altogether. The kitchen was packed with everything you might need. Check in was a breeze and Duffy was a great communicator. He answered our questions promptly and made our experience enjoyable. Our Disney loving family appreciated all of the Disney nuances and the kids loved all of the toys. Weā€™d definitely all love staying here again!

Perfect Family Getaway House

My family stayed four nights at this perfect, quiet, cozy and kid friendly beach house! The view was beautiful and right on the water! We had my 81 year old grandparents with us and they really enjoyed sitting underneath the porch and watching all the grandkids and great grandkids play on the beach. The back deck was spacious and provided a great view, especially during the morning sunrise. We all loved the Disney themed rooms and kept discussing how well they were all decorated. The kids LOVED the house and the toys, books and games that were available to use. I think one of our favorite things about this location was the rocks when the tide went out. It was like having a little kiddie pool for the kids to play in and perfect for finding seashells! The host is great and quick to answer! Overall we all loved this house and the location and are already talking about booking for next year!

Great place for large families!

The Disney theme was very cool! The kids loved the stuffies and the big trunk of beach toys under the deck, and the adults appreciated the beach chairs provided lol. We had a big group of people of every age and there were plenty of comfy beds and seating.The beach was accessible and the tide pools at low tide provided a lot of natural discoveries for the kids like shells, shark teeth, fossils, and small aquatic animals. The kitchen was lovely and had quite a few pantry items leftover for us to use. The pool/hot tub/sauna/fitness center was within walking distance right across the street and was beautiful. There is a nice area at Carolina Beach about 10 minutes away with a carnival, restaurants, and shopping, as well as the Kure Beach Pier about 5 minutes away with fishing rigs for rent at reasonable rates. There was a gift shop there as well with some really unique items, not just the usual kitchy stuff. The owner Duffy was extremely nice, professional, welcoming, and accessible. He kept an open line of communication and really seemed to care that we had a good time there, and we did!!

The Good: right on the water - watch sunrises and waves from the decks (or the beds in the master bedroom). Access to Ocean Dunes indoor pool/hot tub/tennis/shuffleboard/gym was perfect for bad weather. The Bad: The house seems mid-remodel with parts showing age. Some upgrades are noticeable, but significant gaps remain like no ice maker, dishwasher spray arm broken, 3-way light switches are now not (cutting off one switch means the other switch cannot be used); doors that won't close or lock; and the front door lock keypad stopped working (or never worked).The Ugly: The house was only surface cleaned. Dishes put away were dirty; sand and dirt fell from the couch each time we sat down; pans and pots put away with food scraps and grease; there was no organization in the kitchen with like-items scattered across many cabinets; brooms were shoved into a closet with 1/2 inch of sand left on floor and a wet mop, and air filters were blackened and falling apart having not been changed. Other notes: The beach has rocks close to shore. This can be fun to walk along, but makes going in/out of the water difficult. The decor is cool, but we felt too much and left no space for guest to put clothes/suitcases. No mirrors in bedrooms. Duffy permitted use of the basement/garage bypassing ā€œno Guest Accessā€ sign, without that storage we'd have had no place to put our beach chairs/boards/toys and would have been a dealbreaker.

Dilapidated place. The positive: ocean front. Terribly overpriced for the quality. Bed in master had old worn foam for a mattress w no protective dust/mildew covering on it, and one bed had a sagging mattress on frame w inadeq supportive structure.Dated furnishings, decor. All the toilet seats are ancient, damaged and dingy.No toilet paper holder in one of the bath rooms.Dirty, dusty, rusty vents and fan.Bottom of the line fridge. Ice maker not workingJacuzzi tub is corroded, mildew visible in drain w disgusting caulking.Blinds broken.Towel rack off wall in master bath.Dirty greasy rugs, carpets.Mildew ceiling in master bath and rust.Sand and hair in bedlinens and on floors the night we arrived & full dishwasher for us to unload & dirty fridge. Given access to locked linen closet for clean sheets & basket storing some of the linens was very dirty.Cleaning ppl came next morning as promised. Gym mediocre w some broken equipment. Handles outside the deck doors to Master bedroom are corroded, and broken making it hard to close them once out on deck. There is only one chair out on the master deck to enjoy the amazing view; the only place to sit on that deck.This place is not the quality it was represented to be, and certainly not worth the bill."No guest access" sign at storage basement door, given access when we complained about the dirtiness & no place to store our beach items. Slipped on slick bathtub and injured knee.Dated, cheap & unclean. Disappointed
