Mono en Cielo, "Monkey Heaven" is an elegant Balinese style luxury home resting on over twenty private acres of lush jungle only ten minutes from the beach town of Dominical, where you can enjoy surfing, yoga, hiking, beachside restaurants, bars and shopping. This home has four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a great room, a gourmet kitchen, and all the modern amenities to make you, your family, and pets most comfortable. Each bedroom is very private, some have ocean views and some have jungle views. The house has AC, high speed internet, a large indoor-outdoor living area, a large family dining room, bar, swimming pool, outdoor shower, and plenty of area to relax and unwind.

The only reason you will want to leave the house is to explore the beachy, laid back town of Dominical to surf, practice yoga, meditation, swim, fish, go shopping, and try the amazing gourmet restaurants, micro breweries and lively bars.

This property is spectacular!

I would give this 6 Stars if I could! This was our first time to Costa Rica and I can't imagine staying at a better place. The house is much bigger than it looks in the pictures. The pool is HUGE. We had so much room for the 8 of us that stayed there. Monica, the owner is incredibly accomodating and Jeanine, the property is great, too. Be sure to take surfing lessons with Jeanine! There are so many things to do within 45 minutes of the property, not the least of which is the town/beach of Dominical, which is only a quick 10 minute drive away. Great beach and great food and so close! If you come, also ask about having Chef Chino come and prepare a fantastic mean at the house. Costa Rica was great but this house made the whole trip!

I wish all of my guests were like Jim and his family! It was a pleasure having them in my home. They were so excited to be in Costa Rica and enjoyed many of the local activities, restaurants and having Chef Chino in the house. I recommend renting to Jim and his family to all other homeaway owners! They are the best!

Best Birthday Ever!

We were a family of six adults with one 10-year-old. The property exceeded my every expectation! The feel of place cannot be conveyed through photos alone. The location was fabulous, very private, but with spectacular views and a multitude of wildlife visitors. The pool, the grounds, the indoor facilities (kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms, laundry, games, wifi) were all perfect for our needs. The property manager, Jeanine, was always available on WhatsApp and extremely attentive and helpful both before and during our stay. Directions were easy to follow. The drive from SJO airport can be up to 3 1/2 or 4 hours depending on the traffic, so best to plan for the latter. The road up to the house is a bit challenging and our 4-wheel drive vehicles were nice to have. During the dry season, maybe not an absolute necessity, but still recommended. Thanks again for a wonderful stay!

Great house and location

We had a lovely 5 days here. Perfectly located. Close to Dominical and Dominicalito. Super private. Saw lots of monkeys in full view from the pool deck. The pool was beautiful. I would stay there again. Thanks for having us

La casa hermosa muy cómoda tiene todo lo que necesites la piscina increíble se pasa un tiempo increíble me gustó la privacidad y tranquilidad increíble para descansar, el camino de entrada un poco complicado mejor llegar en carros grandes. Definitivamente volvería sin pensarlo dos veces, Jenny muy amable y atenta en que todo saliera bien.

Beautiful position

The position of the property was unparalleled! Totally amazing rain forest setting. Wildlife fabulous. Insects not a problem. 4x4 required for track up to villa which is moderately wide and not too bad. Showers sometimes a problem especially after heavy rain... contact Jeanine who is great at solving these sorts of issues! The waterfall hike is well worth the effort and is on a wide track through forest. About 8 k round trip, 4k each way. We saw white faced capuchin monkeys, pair of scarlet macaws, brown woodpecker and coati. Our party of 6 all agreed that the house was amazing, kitchen lovely to cook in, Aircon and fans wonderful and swimming pool absolutely brilliant! We all loved Costa Rica!

Amazing Property!

This house was amazing! The view is incredible, and the morning howler monkeys were an interesting alarm clock, too. Monkeys showed up every morning to eat their breakfast from a tree adjacent to the house. The property manager (Jeanine) is extremely helpful with anything you need. Loved our stay here!!

We love it when guests enjoy themselves and can truly appreciate the peace and tranquility of the jungle while they are in our home. It’s a great house and the pool is amazing.

The only thing that was a little intimidating, was our group of 6 adults took a shuttle from San Jose airport to Dominican. When we got to the road which goes to the house, we were then told that the shuttle could not take us all the way to the house because it’s so ruff. At this point it was night time. There was people waiting for us in 4wheel drive rigs to take us the rest of the way. This was very intimidating and a little scary. It was all find, and Jeannie the property manager was at the house when we got there. But I think we should have been told that this would happen.

I am sorry that the driver didn't want to come up the hill. We have a great driver with a beautiful luxury van that we can book for guests. He knows the roads and the house and always brings guest right to the front of the house! I hope you will come back!

Gorgeous rain forest property near beaches!

This beautiful home has breath taking views where you can see toucans in the near distance and watch monkeys travel tree to tree through the rain forest all from the comfort of the private pool or covered porch patio. Beaches and waterfalls along with local eateries and grocery stores are only a few miles away, but you can easily stay on the property to enjoy the Pura Vida within the comforts and amenities of this well-maintained 4 bedroom, 2 story home. The full-sized kitchen, bar and dining room along with the gas grill allow for an enjoyable experience and the available chef provides a gourmet dining experience and kitchen clean up for a fraction of the cost in the US. Looking for an excursion, activity, airport shuttle, or rental car? The property manager is also a travel coordinator and enjoys helping however possible. The only complaint is that we booked only 6 nights; that was our choice and next time I hope to stay for 8 nights!!

The property is stunning!

Wow, what a beautiful retreat! The jungle views, peace and amazing serenity will draw me back over and over again. Comfort and nature are surely the highlights. The pool is perfectly positioned and maintained. A very remote but very safe location. The owner certainly has great taste and care for her property! We were thrilled and will be back!

Nice property overall until we were robbed

We were 6 adults and 2 kids. We were there for a family vacation. The property is beautiful and was a great layout for our family. We did have some minor issues with the property from the beginning like the sheets on the bed not changed and the house was not cleaned well. During our final day at the house, we all went out for a sunset sailing trip and got back to the house in the evening. The gardener knew we were out all day and said that he would watch over the house. He was the caretaker of the property. The next day when we were packing our bags we realized our cash was missing. We were robbed over $300 and one of our bags were damaged. We reported this to the seller and although she was very sympathetic at the time and promised to send us a check to refund us she never did. Overall, the house is great however being robbed by the caretaker/gardener of the property that we were supposed to trust ruined it for us. Please beware.

I feel badly for Danielle that she had money stolen. I am very sympathetic, however, have no proof of when or where it occurred. The house has security cameras and footage was checked. Even though the guests suspicion was that the caretaker took money from them, we could find no evidence to prove this. Regardless, the caretaker was terminated and lost a very good job even though I had no proof. We have two safes available at the house for guests use. Costa Rica is a safe Country and there is virtually no violent crime. There is petty theft anywhere you travel. I am sorry Danielle.

Amazing tropical paradise!!

An amazing house with panoramic views of the coast and terrific access to the outstanding beach at Dominicalito with its bars, restaurants, microbrewery and killer coffee shop! The pool at the house is wonderful at the end of the day. Open the windows and listen to the monkeys!

Incredible property ! Even better than pictures....The wild life is all around and incredible. Wake up to monkeys , toucans and even an occasional sloth hanging in the backyard trees...Drive to neat little town and great beaches is just 10 minutes away...will definitely return, hopefully sooner than later.

Amazing stay!

This property is absolutely breathtaking! It is set in the mountains, with gorgeous views and a beautiful pool for you to enjoy. The location is perfect as you're close to quite a few local towns that have some of the best restaurants, cute little shops, amazing adventure trips like zip lining and surfing, and markets with delicious fresh produce. You're also really close to quite a few beaches (a lot of which have lots of wildlife - monkeys, sloths, dogs)! It was clean and well-maintained and the property manager was readily available for any questions we had (or recommendations we asked for). I would highly recommend this property if you want something where you can truly experience all that Costa Rica has to offer. Pura vida!

disappointing stay-left 4 days into our 2 week stay

Waited outside of the house with three young children for a few hours on the day of our check-in as there was no one there to open the house for us as promised. Homeaway was thankfully eventually able to reach the owner's daughter who got us the keys. Once inside, the house was quite nice, but unfortunately had no air conditioning, very few window dressings and inadequate, broken screens. We loved all the windows and the spacious feel of the house, but unfortunately, the house felt like a green house with little to no shade and soaring inside temperatures. With no screen on the patio doors leading to the pool, and the broken screens, we ended up with a large number of insects, and even a stray cat inside the house. The property manager and owner tried very hard to respond to our concerns, but we never felt comfortable or safe in the house. Unfortunately, we had to leave early.

Unfortunately, some people are just unhappy no matter what. We try to do what we can to accommodate guests but, this one was impossible to please. This guest exaggerated the issues and wanted money...period. The guest did not open the windows to let in the breeze and therefore the house was stuffy. Every other guest that has stayed in the house has been thrilled. The house has every amenity to make it comfortable and it is a beautifully furnished home. Sorry James.

Amazing pool, very comfy house, excellent cross breezes and ceiling fans for cooling

Monica was very helpful, and she made sure our stay was pleasant. Lots of nice touches like beach towels, fresh cold filtered drinking water. Loved the kitchen island and layout of the house. The pool is awesome!

Beautiful House and perfect location!

My family and I enjoyed staying at this house. It has plenty of room and a gorgeous view. The location was easy to get to and 5 minutes away from the town of Dominical. We also enjoyed the pool and the monkey's.

You don't regreat

Escaleras is a beautiful place, so peaceful and has excellents views. The house is so nice and you can find everything you need to have a nice days. But the pool area is remarkable!

Stunning private villa, perfect getaway

We had a fabulous stay here. The villa is so large and spacious and well appointed. You only need to bring your clothes and food! The kitchen literally has everything you could need, lots of dishes, pans and even a bar area. The huge island was perfect for cooking with friends. The pool and pool area were the best I have stayed at in Costa Rica, clean, perfect spot with amazing views, chairs for lounging and beautifully landscaped. We were 4 adults and 2 children and there was more than enough room! You feel truly alone in the jungle, so quiet and peaceful. A true getaway!
