A quaint and peaceful place to hang your hat

This is a lovely retreat in charming neighborhood. We could easily have walked to down town but opted to enjoy the beautiful comforts of this home and the idyllic yard. It was a great place to catch up with friends and family. The owner is kind and attentive to the home and her guests. I highly recommend the Red Maple Retreat if you are looking for a place to stay while visiting Milford or the surrounding area. I will definitely stay here again when I visit.

Perfect home for 4 generations to enjoy!

Beautiful and clean home! Attention to detail is evident in each room! Loved that Colleen makes a commitment to our environment to recycle and provides a kitchen compost bin! Both of which we do at home! Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Beautiful home and town!

What a wonderful little town Milford is! So many places to walk. People sitting on their porches or walking or biking. Everyone says hello. The downtown is amazing. The flowers in your yard and around town are beautiful. And the house is perfect. The sunroom is a beautiful place to sit, if not sitting outside. Everything is comfortable.

Unexpected bonanza

Property is perfectly located with everything within a few minute walk or drive. Milford is spectacular as a vacation getaway with all the amenities. House is very comfortable with private nooks to relax and enjoy your thoughts and a beautiful fenced-in yard for relaxing under a lovely Red Maple Tree. This rental provided so much more than expected. The owner wants you to enjoy your stay; her attention to detail and wealth of information opened avenues for exploration we have enjoyed every day. I had work to do while vacationing and found a perfect spot at the large desk downstairs. Lots to do and see and a perfect place to do it.

Hidden Gem

We loved our stay at the Red Maple Retreat. The owner Colleen was very flexible and great to work with. The beds were comfy, the neighbourhood safe and quiet. The bonus for us was the sunroom. We opened the windows up in the morning, and listened to the lovely sounds of nature as we ate breakfast in the sun. The yard was in full bloom, and it was great to see and smell the lilacs. It was fantastic. The kids even read books outside on the porch chairs, just to be in the yard. The house was clean, and well maintained, the kitchen was well supplied with whatever you needed to cook. All amenities were close by and convenient. The internet was fast. We loved it, and would definitely stay again. Thanks so much Colleen for a great stay!

Perfect: Warm, inviting home in a charming town with a delightful proprietor

We chose the Red Maple Retreat for a sister's scrapbooking weekend. I was captivated by the warm, charming photos and the prospect of a light-filled place to work. We were not disappointed! When I arrived, Colleen had lights on, music playing and delicious cupcakes to celebrate my sister's birthday. So sweet! It was exceptionally clean. She also thoughtfully set up an additional folding table for us to use for the weekend. We were able to eat most of our meals in, the kitchen had everything we needed, including condiments, etc, for general use. We did venture out to the town and had a great lunch at a barbecue restaurant and also enjoyed coffee from the Proving Grounds. The owner was exceptionally attentive. On our last day, we were able to meet Colleen and she is a delight. She was attentive throughout our booking, our stay, and our departure via text and email, but did not disturb us. A perfect balance. I highly recommend the Red Maple Retreat! Thank you Colleen!

A Home Away From Home!

We stayed at the Red Maple Retreat for three weeks while our home was being remodeled. The website pictures are beautiful but there are no words to say how homey and comfortable the "retreat" is! The bedrooms are spacious and elegant, the lovely sunporch is warm and inviting, the kitchen is fully stocked with all the dinnerware and utensils you will ever need. The living room is a cozy place to watch TV. The downstairs area is large and inviting - a quiet spot to read or play games. Colleen supplies fun, family type games - you will never want for quality-wholesome entertainment. A short walk to downtown Milford, the streets are lined with lovely trees and very well-kept, quaint homes. Colleen is a hostess extraordinaire - she is always available to answer questions and provide entertainment options. She checks in to make sure that your stay is safe, enjoyable and relaxing. The word "retreat" is truly that! Whether your stay is for a few days or nearly a month, you will fall in love with this "Home Away from Home."

Lovely peaceful stay

Home away from home, cozy,warm and embraces you as you enter the door

This is a wonderful home to stay in. It meets every need. Beautifully decorated that adds to its charm. The town of Milford is a delightful village to visit. Cute shops, yummy restaurants, and things to do. Colleen provides a rack of brochures that may help you decide where and what you want to do. Art and wood work shops to participate in, fun excursions for children, etc.

Charming Home near Downtown Milford

This property was absolutely spotless. It is cute as can be, nicely decorated and has all the ammenities you would request for a short or longer term stay. We stay a little over a week and the owner text us to let us know of local events in Milford (car show and historic home tour). It it close to down town Milford and in a quaint and quiet neighborhood. We have friends and family in the general area and this was a great spot for us to call home while in town. Red Maple Retreat truly is charming

This was our second stay at the Red Maple. Just as I remembered it. Sun-filled, quiet, totally charming. The layout and furnishings couldn't be better. My sister remarked on the wonderful top quality bedding. It was (again) spotless. Not only does Colleen recycle, she also composts. Am returning later this month for a mini reunion with old Milford High School friends. I've found the perfect place to stay for trips home.

Beautiful

We had a great time, was very quiet, clean, and comfortable. Was great to have the basement for the kids to have their own space. The yard was amazing. And the neighborhood was walkable. Would highly recommend this property.

Very clean but some information about the house should be improved

We arrived at the house and found it to very clean but we found no information about the TV or thermostat and the second bath was in a smelly basement. There were only four bath towels for our almost 2 week stay. After a week we were offered extra linen and a change of sheers for an additional 100 dollars. We already paid over 2000 to stay. The location is very good. Milford is a great little community.

Perfect Place to UnWind

Once you step out of your car, you will notice the attention to detail of this awesome 50's ranch home just a short distance from downtown Milford. Super clean and comfortable on a beautiful tree lined street and close to some of the most beautiful historic homes ever. If you are looking for a relaxing getaway with no worries....Milford and the Red Maple Retreat is your solution.

Absolutely Fantastic - Lovely - Peaceful - Relaxing

This was probably the best VRBO rental I've ever stayed in - as an overall experience. Everything exceeded our expectations (and those are high with me). From the pre-arrival, arrival, stay, and post-stay. Colleen was outstanding. The home was a "home" - from the minute we walked in. The special touches of fresh flowers throughout the home. Abundance of towels and bedding and kitchen related amenities. It had a it all. There was just 4 of us and we lived in the upper floor. But the basement was a whole other living area that we didn't even touch. Families could stay here besides couples. The yard is huge and beautiful. Can't thank Colleen enough for everything she did and sharing her home with us. Milford and Michigan are beautiful. We're from Seattle - and this part of the country is so charming and beautiful.

We so enjoyed our stay at Red Maple Retreat

This is a lovely home located on a quiet street in our old hometown of Milford. It is tastefully decorated, with comfortable furnishings and every convenience. Our host, Colleen, was thoughtful, warm and caring-- as charming as the retreat she has created. I was bringing my mom home to celebrate her birthday with old friends and this place couldn't have been more perfect. Friends stopped by to visit and old favorite restaurants were nearby. An added surprise was that it used to be the home of one of my mom's old card playing friends! This is definitely where we will stay on future trips to Milford. Fabulous!

Beautiful home with tons of space and a huge yard on a quiet, little street. Colleen is awesome! Downtown is adorable and within walking distance. Lots of great restaurants and things to do with a gorgeous park.

This house was built to last in the early 1950s. I fell in love with its hardwood floors, plaster walls, cove ceilings and window-filled, year-round sunroom. It has a special charm and a good vibe that people immediately feel when they enter. The updated and finished lower level offers an equally inviting area to work or relax. Surrounding the house are many hardwoods, pines and perennials providing plenty of peaceful outdoor spots to enjoy a good book, work on your computer or nap in the hammock.

Our Guests come from all over the world for all different reasons. But they have much in common when it comes to the reasons they choose the Red Maple Retreat:

~ Families in real estate transition who need a lovely, comfortable, fully-equipped place to stay after their former house sells and before they can move into their new house.

~ Families with kids who desire more space than a hotel room affords. They love the idea of preparing and enjoying home-cooked meals together, but they also appreciate the privacy that having multiple gathering areas and more than one bathroom provides.

~ People with pets who don't want to leave their dogs in a kennel. Our pet-loving guests love that we welcome their four-legged friends. They also love that their pets are free to run and frolic in our large, fenced backyard.

~ Our Business Guests seek a place that feels like home-away-from-home. Some put a high priority on having a fully-equipped kitchen. Others love having private outdoor space. They all love the convenience of our high-speed internet.

~ Writers, Artists, Scrapbookers and all who want to unplug and just chill, love the peace and quiet of the Retreat. The also love creating and reading in our light-filled sunroom surrounded by nature.

~ Festival-goers and Parade Lovers and Concert Attendees who want to be close to the action in downtown Milford during our art and music gatherings, but also appreciate having a quiet place to retreat to at the end of the day.

My goal in creating the Red Maple Retreat is to provide a peaceful space for visitors that is cozy, safe, convenient and comfortable - the kind of space I like to stay while on the road. That's why I also provide hotel-quality sheets and towels and all the essential kitchen accessories you'll need to make simple meals while you're away from home. I've carefully designed my vacation home to spoil you and ensure your peace and comfort during your stay.

For those dedicated to green living, we use no chemicals on our lawn, encourage recycling, and offer composting of organic waste.
