Fabulous Home for a family gathering. Plenty of space for gatherings plus privacy.Of course, the pool and slide were the highlight for children. Plenty of towels.We needed adjusting for an AC and the hot tub and all were taken care of with a phone call.

Absolutely loved our week long stay at this property. We're local to the area but had a lot of family visiting for graduation season and we were so grateful for this well maintained and thoughtfully prepared home. Anthony was responsive, kind, and helpful. The kids absolutely LOVED the pool. There were so many little nooks and spaces to find some quiet time. The kitchen had absolutely everything we needed. Visitors may not realize how rare and special it is to have such a spacious well maintained home with a pool on the Hilo side of the island. Truly a special find with affordable rates. Thank you for hosting our family!

It was a pleasure hosting this guest! They were friendly, respectful of our home, and left everything clean and well cared for. The kitchen had all the required dishes, pot and pans and then some. The blenders were a big plus. The pool and water slide are amazing. And the hot tub got lots of use. At only 1 hour from Volcanos NP this is a good choice for volcano watching.This place would get 5 stars but for the need for a bit of maintenance around the place. And too much piled up old furniture and what not. You will enjoy this place while thinking that it needs a bit of TLC.

Our family of twelve traveled to Honomu right after the largest hurricane the island had seen in over 150 years. We almost canceled, but this trip was a once‑in‑a‑lifetime “final hurrah” for my in‑laws, who rarely travel and don’t plan to fly again. When the airline confirmed it was safe, we decided to go — not realizing the island would be without power for several days.Even with a 3–4 day outage, this stay became one of the most meaningful vacations we’ve ever had. The home is beautiful, full of natural light, and surprisingly comfortable even without electricity. We spent our days enjoying the property, cooking on the barbecue, using ice chests, talking, laughing, and truly reconnecting as a family. It felt like “mansion camping,” and somehow it was perfect.Our host was incredible. They checked in often, opened an extra room for us, kept us updated on the local situation, and even had a neighbor stop by to welcome us and share where we could find internet and supplies. As soon as the weather cleared, they sent someone to clean the pools so we could enjoy the outdoor space. Their kindness made a challenging situation feel safe and supported.When the power finally returned, the host generously extended our stay for free, allowing us to fully enjoy the home. Despite the hurricane, this was one of my favorite vacations ever. The house was amazing, the host was amazing,My kids are already begging to return and missing the stuffed animal turtles!

Crystal and her family were truly wonderful guests, and we feel so grateful to have hosted them during what turned into such an unexpected and memorable trip. Despite arriving just after a major hurricane and experiencing several days without power, Crystal and her family handled everything with such kindness, patience, and a wonderful spirit of adventure. It was incredibly heartwarming to hear how much they enjoyed being together, making memories, and embracing the experience. Crystal was communicative, thoughtful, and respectful of our home, and we would be absolutely delighted to welcome her and her family back to Honomu Place anytime. The place is not as pictured or described. Imagine peal and stick floor tiles poking your feet, no caulking with plenty of mold, room layout hide and seek, outlets going to nothing, spa not heating and slide water intermittent, dishwasher flooding the kitchen with working washer and dryer and kitty cat was great. It is in a good location. Felt very safe.

Great location

We loved staying here. Plenty of room for everyone, quiet neighborhood, close to waterfalls, ocean, scenic drive and Hilo. The water slide was awesome! The outdoor space was great, kitchen was spacious.

Great Stay for Large Groups - Amazing Pool!

We had a great stay (4 adults, two kids ages 7 and 13) the house was spacious, but the pool was the prize winner with everyone in our group! Anthony was very communicative and hospitable and the house was well stocked with almost everything you could want or need.

Thanksgiving stay

This was a great place to stay. Lots of room for all 10 of us! The house was well stocked and the pool was great. We picked oranges and star fruit from yard which were delicious! I would recommend folks staying here if you have a large group!

Great place for kids

House was very nice. Many different places to hang out. Pool was great for the kids! Hosts were very responsive. It is more unique than other places but in a good way! Would stay again.

It was a lovely stay. My family and I enjoyed the amenities. The house was stocked with extra supplies from soap, sunscreen, toothbrushes, and toys for the pool. Such a peaceful and relaxing neighborhood. The yard was well kept and perfect to walk around first thing in the morning. We will stay here again. Thank you for opening your house to us.

Quiet house with a fun backyard

We booked this place to stay closer to volcano national park. The place was a bit out of town in a nice quiet little hamlet with an amazing back yard pool. My friends and my kids had a great time in the pool and on the water slide.

A home within paradise

This is our second time staying at Honumu place and it truly is a magical home. We came back with friends and their children, which made sharing the pool and the water slide memories even more special. The fully equipped kitchen made it easy for us to enjoy our adventures every day together the rooms offered the sleep amenities that we needed for the variety of ages that we had. We will look forward to coming back again in the future.

Family Reunion

The home was perfect for our three generations gathering; spacious, comfortable and well equipped in a gorgeous setting. The pool and surroundings felt like our own private resort. We loved the proximity to the many sites and wonders found on the east side of the Big Island.

Amazing home inside & out with a great location!

We all loved the slide, pool & hot tube. The house and pool area were even more spacious than the pictures. Everything was easy & the host was very responsive and helpful. The location is great, right next to waterfalls. We can't wait to go back.
