We pride ourselves on maintaining an impeccable space, and are all about redefining your short-term rental experience. Our mission is to provide you with an unforgettable beach town getaway where you can soak up the salt air, kick back, and make memories.

Cardiff-by-the-Sea is a destination neighborhood. Moonrise Cottage is 3 blocks to beach access and "The Village" shops. The Village has many dining options, ranging from casual beachside taco shops to gourmet fare, plus several breweries and bars. Check out our local guidebook.

Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the proximity to surfing spots: Swamis (2 miles), Pipes (1 mile), and Cardiff Reef (0.5 miles). Scenic walking trails (San Elijo Lagoon (dog-friendly and ten-minute walk to trailhead), kid-friendly neighborhood park (Glen Park is a three blocks away) plus a lovely twenty-minute neighborhood walk to world class Encinitas Community Park (sport courts, top-rated skatepark, playgrounds and large off-leash dog park).

For community excursions, we love Torrey Pines trails, San Diego Botanical Gardens (3 miles), Moonlight Beach (3 miles) and Swami's Gardens (2 miles) plus downtown Encinitas and Solana Beach for their unique range of shops and restaurants. Legoland is a short drive (20 mins), and the greater San Diego area (30 miles) offers attractions such as San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, and numerous museums, all within a short drive. The Midway, the Trolley Tour, and Old Town make great day trips too.

QUIET HOURS
Moonrise Cottage is located in a vibrant but also a residential neighborhood. The City of Encinitas, where Cardiff-by-the-Sea resides, implements quiet hours from 10pm-7am daily (typically it is very quiet by nightfall on weekdays). We strictly enforce via decibel monitors.

Guests have exclusive use and access to the entire single family home and private front yard, including the chef's kitchen, double washer and dryer, and high-quality mattresses dressed in Parachute linens. Enjoy organic toiletries and both blackout curtains and shades for restful sleep. The home is equipped with a full chef's kitchen, air conditioning, and luxurious furnishings throughout.

NOTE: Sunset House is directly behind Moonrise Cottage, another short-term rental that we own and operate. Sunset House has an access path to street next to Moonrise Cottage - and Moonrise Cottage's Master Bedroom window faces to this walkway. Although we have not experienced complaints, we recognize that some guests may find this uncomfortable. Please see drone images in listing and let us know if you have any questions! MAX OCCUPANCY
This home has a max occupancy of 7. Our typical guests are families (or friends) of 4-5 people; 2 couples; or a single couple with their well-behaved dog.

We also own and operate the neighboring property, Sunset House - a three bedroom/two + half bath (King, Queen, Queen) two-story home with a private enclosed backyard. Moonrise Cottage was renovated in late 2024, and is launching in early 2025. We look forward to hosting you and your extended family or friends. It features a beautiful electric fireplace in the living room and a stunning front yard fire pit and exterior dining for six.
