Don't fight the traffic with every other vacationer trying to get to the Island on Saturday afternoon. Arrive and depart on SUNDAY. Who knows, it might make ya SMILE knowing everyone is suffering on 59 while you start your BBQ with a cold beverage because your staying ONE MORE NIGHT!

This PROPERTY is DOG FRIENDLY with a fenced in yard!!!
This is a Duplex Home being offered as a Single Family Property so you get 2 fully equipped Kitchens, 2 Living Rooms, Two of EVERYTHING just like two separate units being offered as ONE Single Family Lagoon Front Home.
Private Pool for only your group, no sharing.
Allowed up to 14 persons for the same price, no additional charge.

We provide:
2 King Beds
3 Queen Beds and (1 Chase Sofa Sleeper)

Each side has ONE Streaming TV in the living room ONLY. The ground level 5th bedroom has ONE TV. 3 Streaming TVs total.

We will allow up to 2 extra people above 14 for $140 per person + tax / week (16 MAX people allowed in the house at any time)
We will allow up to 4 DOGS up to 50lbs each for $50 per DOG / WEEK + tax (4 MAX) Certain breeds may be rejected. If your pet is larger than 50 lbs, please ask. No other pets types will be considered.

Beautifully Built Custom Lagoon Front Home with Full Amenities
5 Bedroom 5 FULL Baths (2 King Master Suites, 2 Queen Guest Bedrooms, One Queen Ground Level Studio Suite, 1 Chase Sofa Sleeper) These are the PROVIDED SLEEPING BEDS. If you need more, please make arrangements to bring an air mattress.

Located Waterfront on the Lagoon in West Beach one block from the Gulf Beach with Gulf Beach access at 10th street.

We Encourage everyone to bring WATER SHOES if you plan to swim in the Gulf or the Lagoon. Shells and Crustaceans that are present can cut your feet if you walk on them. Please use caution by using water shoes during your stay. Swimming in the Lagoon is encouraged. The water is BRACKISH.

We charge the same rate up to 14 people. Any extra persons over 14 will be charged additional.
We charge $50 per pet per stay, plus tax.

Great vacation home!

Really enjoyed our time here! The place was big enough for all our family and in a great location. Kids had a great time in the pool and the lagoon, also the beach was just a short walk away. I would definitely stay here again.

Really nice place

We really enjoyed our week at the beach. Ken, the owner, was great to work with. Everything was exactly as presented and checking in was a breeze. Everyone had a great time. Beds were comfortable, everything was clean, kitchens well-stocked with dishes and utensils. We will definitely be back!

We stayed here for my mother's 75th birthday and the location and house did not disappoint! Close to area attractions and a dock for fishing the best of both worlds! Owner was quick to respond to questions or concerns!

Great getaway!

This duplex style house was perfect for 2 families but was easy enough for all areas and amenities to be shared. Property was clean. Was a tad outdated but that didn’t stop us from having a great week.

Family beach vacation

The property is nice. Dated but clean. We had our family of 14 visiting for the week. Eight of them were only there for 3 nights. The younger kids enjoyed the small pool and the lagoon. The mattresses need replaced and the sleeper sofa does also. The VRBO ad says sleeps 16 but there is only places for 13 to lie down. We brought twin air mattresses and made do. Plenty of coffee cups! Not enough forks. Washers and dryers were a definite plus for our group. Ice maker does well. Dishwasher works well. All in all we had a wonderful trip as a family!

Something for Everyone in our Family

Short walk to the beach. The pool was perfect depth for my grandkids. We spent so much time on the dock catching fish so we had a fish Fry.We caught blue crabs on string with a chicken legs. Delicious 😋

Great getaway for family

Didn't find the 3rd bedroom until 2 days after staying, but it was on because the rest of the family didn't get there until the 4th day. Plenty of room for us all. Pool was a little smaller but worked out perfectly. Would recommend to anyone wanting a great getaway for family coming from different states. Had a wonderful time. Thank you

Great location

The property fit our needs well. We had so many different ages that the early risers stayed on one side of the duplex and the later risers stayed on the other. My grandsons loved to fish off the pier!

Fun Family Vacation

My family enjoyed staying at Sol Mates. It had a perfect layout and plenty of room for all of us. I loved the fact that we could all come together for meals and swimming, and in the evening we could all retreat to our own areas (if we chose to). My son-in-law, sons, and dad really enjoyed fishing off the pier. The walk to the beach was a short one and many of the restaurants were a short drive away. Ken was super helpful and easy to reach by text/phone call. We would love to stay at Sol Mates during our next family vacation!

Labor Day at Gulf Shores

Great location. Well stocked with appliances and dishes, but short of towels and sheets for the number of people in our party, but additional were provided by the 3rd day. The place could use a deep cleaning (didn't meet my spouse's expectation). But was fine for most of us and all left happy.

Family Time

We had a delightful stay at Sol Mates. Home had everything we needed with plenty of space for the family to spread out. (7 adults/2 dogs). Everyone had their own room. We didn't cook much but there seemed to be adequate utensils/pots/pans etc. The dogs enjoyed the grassy back yard. The pool was refreshing. We had so much fun with Carlos Sanchez (the blue heron that hangs out) watching him dive for fish off of the dock and even hand feeding him with the ones we caught. Close to local attractions/dining venues. Short walk to the sandy beach front on a nicely paved path. Property owner responsive/available for questions. Would definitely stay again.

Great layout for groups

The layout of the three separate living spaces was perfect for our family. The fenced in yard to the lagoon worked perfect for our dog. The only thing I would have liked to know prior to going is that dogs are not allowed on any public beach in AL. I did not know this was a law. We did find a historical beach at Fort Morgan that allowed dogs, so it worked out well for us. But I wish the listing had mentioned this in its description just so we could have been a little more prepared. People from out of state may not realize this is a thing like we didn’t. Overall, the house, location, access to the beach and lagoon were all perfect for our group of 6.

Hot Mess

My review I wrote is actually nearly 650 words as we encountered numerous problems while staying there. I will be happy to provide those to the owner separately. In summary, wouldn't recommend going in late July due to excessive heat. The cleanliness of the home was poor to average. The home did accommodate my entire family, and we used the small pool extensively but found the lagoon smelly and murky. If you bring a dog, be aware of sand burrs are everywhere. Cute decorations inside and only a short walk to beach. Great golf courses nearby. Found magots in the outside trash bins (gross). Pullout bed had black mold on the mattress. One pillowcase had an old blood stain. Kitchen trash cans had previous tenants' gunk on the bottom. Thermostat acted up occasionally. One entry door lock didn't work. Dirty box fan provided in master bedroom as ceiling fan only had one slow speed. I could go on, but cleaning and property mgmt. are lacking here. I'm not sure the owner knows how bad it is but just wanted to share my feedback after vacationing every year and stating in several rental properties. I wish the owner the nest as managing these is not an easy job.

Perfect Mother-Daughter-dogs long weekend!

My (now adult) daughter and I have been coming to Gulf Shores/Orange Beach a couple of times a year since 2010, and I have no idea how we've missed this hidden gem! We always travel with our dogs, and finding a pet-friendly rental for a long weekend like we just had or our two week vacation every summer is not always easy. Salty Dog not only invites pets, it caters to them! Our dogs loved the yard and after the first trip down the pier, didn't even mind the lapping water under the deck! (be careful with small dogs under ten pounds, there are a few 'escape zones' , but don't let that stop you!) Being outside in the evenings is super quiet and relaxing, and the hot tub is certainly a bonus! Even though the main strip is just around the corner, you feel secluded. From a location perspective, it is the perfect combination of on the water and near the beach, and the view from the kitchen window in the morning can't be beat! The house is coastal and welcoming, and plenty of room for one or more families to spend time together without stepping on each others toes. Everything you need is at your disposal, and if you didn't remember to bring your leashes from home...well you will find three like-new retractable leashes to use, because we forgot them! ha...which we realized four hours into the drive home when stopping at a rest area to walk the dogs. yikes! We will absolutely be returning to the Salty Dog on a regular basis! After 6 years of vacationing, we have found our perfect spot. Enjoy!!

Definitely RECOMMEND to others!

We had a wonderful stay at Sol Mates. Was nice to have a separated space for the families but a common area on deck and pool. The property manager was VERY responsive which we appreciated greatly. Would definitely recommend ❤️
