We left this rental the night we arrived after finding extensive evidence of mice. We never slept there, paid for a hotel instead, and the host refused our request for a refund. When we arrived, a swarm of horseflies followed our car up to the house. We had to wait several minutes for them to settle before we could get out.Later, we noticed a hole chewed in our dog food bag, which prompted us to look around. We found what appeared to be mouse droppings on the kitchen table and coffee table, in the hallway, and in the gaps between the washer and dryer and the walls. When I opened the water heater closet, I immediately saw a rodent bait box in front of the water heater and more droppings nearby. The host said occasional mice are normal on a farm. I live next to a farm and understand that mice can be an issue, but what we found throughout the home did not seem occasional. The host said the home had already been cleaned and offered to clean it again the next day. Our concern wasn’t that the house was untidy. We had found droppings on surfaces we would touch and use for eating, and on the floor where our two small dogs could find and eat them. Cleaning the next day did not address our concern about mice continuing to get into those areas while we stayed there. We spent about two hours at the property, much of it finding another place to stay. We had booked for four adults so our son and his girlfriend could stay with us, but those plans were disrupted. I would not recommend!
