In the scenic Shenandoah Valley outside of Luray, Virginia Hawksbill Retreat Log Cabin #10 is the perfect place for a couple to get away from it all. Our 45-acre refuge is nestled at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Shenandoah National Park, making it ideal for a relaxing getaway.

We just finished renovating this one-bedroom log cabin and are now offering it to couples looking for a romantic retreat. The spacious layout features a big stone fireplace, a Queen-size log bed with a comfortable memory mattress, and a separate bathroom and shower that can accommodate two people with its distinctive tilework. Wide glass French doors let you to look out at the mountains from the comfort of your bed.

Relax with a cup of coffee in hand and take in the peaceful surroundings on the covered porch. The cabin has a private hot tub, a fully equipped kitchen, satellite TV, and WiFi. Whether soaking in the private hot tub or sitting around the fire pit, you can have a romantic evening beneath the stars.

Luray, the majestic Luray Caverns, and the breathtaking Shenandoah National Park are all within driving distance from Hawksbill Retreat Log Cabin #10, making it easy to take advantage of the area's various outdoor activities and stunning natural beauty. Take a scenic drive along Shenandoah River State Park, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and Skyline Drive. Enjoy a wide variety of outdoor pursuits such as canoeing, kayaking, tubing, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, fishing, and hunting.

The cabin had a beautiful view. When we arrived the cabin was clean and we were very happy with the layout. The hot tub and firepit were wonderful additions to enjoy in the cool evenings. Perfect place to get away from life and enjoy a romantic weekend.

Perfect Getaway

Race Weekend

Stayed over the weekend while I ran in the Shenandoah Half Marathon. The cabin was cozy and inviting with excellent view of the mountains. Also just minutes away from a winery.

Are you sure this negative review has nothing to do with wanting to check in at noon and being told no. If there were insects in the bed, you would have notified us. A pest control company performs pest control services very frequently at all of our cabins as a preventative measure. This cabin has been occupied for several weekends before this stay and after - no insects. This is the middle of winter with below freezing temps in the mountains of Virginia - insects are NOT active. For the last 3 years, my wife has cleaned all of the cabins as we always had to go behind housekeepers and fix things, so now we just do it ourselves. All linens are washed and cleaned after each checkout; the cabins are thoroughly cleaned and inspected AGAIN on the day of arrival before guests' check-in. Again, in January no insects were found during our inspection of the cabin that we perform for all cabins after guests' departure.

Great getaway

The cabin was as listed. Very clean and well organized secluded and setup with privacy in mind. The walkway lights by the hot tub were not working but that aside this place was spectacular.

Hawksbill Cabin 10

A great experience all-around for a quiet anniversary weekend. Cabin was really nice, with great view of the mountains. Even though our weather was not great, it was still fun to sit on the porch and watch the clouds move over the mountains. The location is great too; we enjoyed dinner in Luray, which is just maybe ten minutes away. It's also close to the Skyline Drive entrance and lots of hiking opportunities. The cabin was clean and well outfitted, just as advertised.

The cabin was adorable and hosts were very friendly. However I would recommend this place only if a couple would truly like to retreat from the world during the month of December. I thought there would be some trails for hiking but it unexpectedly snowed a decent amount and the nearest town for shopping or doing activities seemed to be about an hour plus away. I was disappointed with the weather and activity options in Stanley but lesson learned for vacationing during December!Cabin 7 was very good to us though!

Amazing for couples

Amazing stay. Great lodging with great views. The hot tub and fire pit were great additions. And the double showers (with high pressure) were another great surprise. The vibe was just amazing. Minutes away from great hiking, fishing, restaurants. Only critique (no fault of the owners) is no Ubers/Lift. We wanted to responsibly enjoy the local winery (only 2 miles away). But it worked out.

Wonderful Stay

Our stay was absolutely wonderful. First I want to say when we got there the GPS would have taken us directly there but there was an accident and no detour signs. I called Randy and he stayed on the phone with me until we got to the cabin giving me step by step directions. Wonderful host. The cabin was beautiful, very clean and fully stocked. The water pressure was amazing. Usually you don't have water pressure or hot water and both were awesome. Our stay was one of the best ever. A WONDERFUL romantic getaway for any couple looking to enjoy a peaceful time with their loved one. We look forward to coming back again.

Simple yet amazing

There are several of these cabins on the property, but each are spaced such that you feel secluded. We had cabin #10 and it's a 1BR/1BA setup, but has most everything you could ask for including a hot tub outside under the stars. The property itself is beautiful - nestled in the mountains with gorgeous sunrises (and moonrises) and we were treated to see some of the local wildlife...a buck, a few other deer, a group of pheasants (we think anyway), and even a fox. It's a gated property so traffic is limited to guests only. Really enjoyed it.

Nice little Cabin

The stay was great. The location was nice and out of the way. The only issues we had were that the hot water didn't last very long. Maybe 7-8 minutes. Also, the wireless was useless. I was able to connect to it, but couldn't get to anything on the Internet. Except for those 2 items, the rest of the weekend was wonderful.

Is this truly a romantic getaway?

Of all the many places I have stayed in the US, Hawaii and abroad this is the first time I have experienced 1 ply toilet paper, no complementary toiletries, or complementary coffee/tea/bottled water basket, no laundry detergent to complement the washer/dryer. A steep cleaning deposit but yet the customer is asked to do half the cleaning up before checking out. With all the added fees this stay turned out to be way more expensive for what it had to offer. To make this a true romantic getaway, which it could be - upgrade the bedding and get rid of the quite uncomfortable couch (although it did hold luggage quite nicely) that is up against a wall not facing the TV, so the end tables can be put in their proper locations. For the price paid the things that are missing is what a customer is expecting to find in order to have a true romantic getaway.
