Mary and Andy were great hosts - informative, communicative, helpful. The house was perfect for our family vacation. Location was close to the beach, groceries, restaurants, in a peaceful area. Highlights for our family were definitely the pools, hot tub, use of beach chairs and boogie boards, and baby amenities including pack n play and a high chair. We would definitely stay again or recommend to others.

Great place with kids

Amazing to be able to walk to the beach and have access to a pool. They have everything there to make your stay fun.

We will be back!!

My family attended a wedding in Nags Head,and we chose Southern Shores to stay. The Blue Turtle will not disappoint!Great location.....stocked with everything that is required for a relaxing stay.....well equipped for for a quick beach walk,or a quiet book read on one of it's many decks.....highly recommend!!

Great place and location. Had some communication issues with owners and landscapers which made us change our plans. But for the most part, its a place I would consider again.

Yes it was pet friendly and the kids loved the pool. They only issue we had was that the grill needs to be cleaned good, has a lot of grease in bottom and the grease pan is over filling. We didn't notice it until we went to use it and when we put the hamburgers on the grill caught fire and cremated the hamburgers before we could get them off and the fire put out, other than that everything was great.

Family vacation

We had a great time at The Blue Turtle!! it’s the perfect home in a beautiful neighborhood that’s close to the beach and to great attractions. Mary was a great host and always answered any questions or concerns. The house is well equipped with everything you need for the beach, which was so helpful. We will definitely be back!!

OBX Family Trip

The Blue Turtle was the perfect stay for our family vacation. The property manager was polite and responsive, and the home had everything you need for a beach vacation. The pool was an absolute dream, and even though it is shared with another property it is very private. The location to beach was short walk or drive. This home provided my family the perfect environment to get away, and left us wanting not to leave?

Perfect beach vacation spot

The blue turtle was clean, comfortable, and equipped with everything we needed, as well as anything we might want. Mary and Andy communicated with us in detail, so we had all the information for our stay in a clear, timely way. They were beyond gracious, even providing a discount for an oven that was out of order for two days out of our three day stay. The pool and hot tub were wonderful, and the beach was easy to walk or drive to. In short, a perfect family beach getaway.

Amazing Hospitality

This has to be one of the best stays my husband and I have had! Mary was so easy to work with. We arrived early, no extra charge, with dog treats, cookies and a bottle of Prosecco for us to enjoy. So clean, and incredibly well stocked - this is a great property. Lots of decks and outdoor spaces, very close to Harris Teeter. Loved this home! Thank you Mary!!!

Can’t say enough good things about the Blue Turtle!

Our family absolutely loved our stay! The house is gorgeous and Mary has gone above and beyond to make sure it has everything you could need- from board games to bathrobes. The location was perfect. We were within a 10-40 minute drive of everywhere we wanted to go but the neighborhood was quiet and the house felt secluded. It was so peaceful drinking our morning coffee out on the deck. And the walk to the beach was so easy! Our entire family loved the pool area and we spent hours there every day. The convenience of the kitchenette was great and we enjoyed eating meals out there! Mary and Andy were excellent hosts and so thoughtful. We felt completely at home there, and with 2 kids and a baby that isn’t always easy! We definitely hope to go back again someday.

The house was perfect and had everything that we could have ever wanted.

Mary & Andy were wonderful hosts. Their home is beautiful and so well appointed. There was nothing that we were missing on our vacation. From plush towels to fluffy pillows, beach equipment, pools toys and fully equipped kitchen and pool house. I never thought I would find a house where the homeowner thought to stock as many items as I like, right down to adult beverage glasses in the house and plastic for pool side. Although the red flags were flying all week at the beach, we were very content to float in the pool and take a few runs down the water slide. As promised, the hot tub was Installed and set up the day of our arrival. It was very relaxing in the evening. If you are looking for the perfect getaway, look no further. And the location can’t be beat. It’s so easy to go in either direction on the island without being in the car forever. We loved it and look forward to returning.

Great vacation rental for children. Walking distance to the beach, great pools for little ones (slides included) and a safe environment away from major roads. If you have kids under 8, this is a go-to rental.

Great family vacation!

We had a great time staying at the Blue Turtle! The house is clean, perfect location, and has everything you would need and more. The decore goes together great. The pool was amazing and overall this house was the perfect place to stay with my family for our vacation. I would definetly recommend this house and I would stay here again.

Fun week at the beach!

The house is stocked with most everything you may need. We had 6 adults and 2 kids in our group with plenty of room to move around. Location is great and close to everything. Pool and hot tub are a plus! Mary and Andy, are friendly and quick to respond. We would definitely stay here again!

Quiet family vacation

We had a lovely time visiting Andy and Mary’s Vrbo. It was in a quiet neighborhood with sidewalks and trails go walk or ride bikes through. The pool was perfect for the hots days. The beach was only a short little drive away with parking not too far. The owners were easy to get into contact with if we had any questions. Thank you for making our vacation a lovely one.

Wonderful Stay

We had a great time at the Blue Turtle. The house and pool were incredibly well stocked with pretty much everything we needed. Andrew and Mary do a great job of making sure little things are taken care of like stocking the bathrooms with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, and even having each closet stocked with fluffy robes (including kid sized ones!). There are also plenty of towels, we always go through a lot when at the beach. My kids loved the pool and the water slide, and all the little pool toys that they have. The beach was a short walk away (usually about 8 minutes), or you could drive over, but we always walked. There were plenty of chairs, coolers, umbrellas, and beach toys for the kids, and the outdoor shower was perfect for de-sanding after our trip. Mary and Andy were incredibly responsive and kind, and made sure to make our whole family feel welcome. They quickly answered any questions we had, and made sure that check-in went smoothly. We had one small issue where a toilet lever broke in one of the bathrooms one evening, we notified them that evening, they texted right back to say they would be by the next morning. The next morning Andy texted again to ask if now was a good time for him to stop by, and got everything all squared away for us. If we come back to the Outer Banks, we would definitely book the Blue Turtle again.
