Check in was easy and property was clean. House is located next to a bar (Loggerheads) but they closed fairly early and noise was never an issue. Would definitely start again.

Thank you for your review... we are a little confused though as there are no bars on the island. Maybe this review was confused with a different property you rented this summer? Loggerheads is a bar on Folly Beach, in Charleston about a 2 hour drive from Harbor Island - but we appreciate the feedback and positive review!

Summer vacation

Great stay and somewhat remote for truly relaxing. Property was nicely located with easy beach access. Beaches were not crowded and fun to explore. Property was well equipped and comfortable. We would happily return for future stay.

Wonderful Vacation

Our family has been vacationing at Harbor Island for several years. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this home, the boardwalk to the beach was a great plus and the house was wonderful. We spent all out time in the evening on the screened in porch. A great place!

The location was great. Property management was very helpful and easy to work with. The property itself needs some maintenance and maybe provide some more amenities (silverware, mugs, etc for large groups)

Last minute getaway

The house was clean, the kitchen was well appointed and you can't beat the view from the porch! I watched the dolphins swim by every morning as I sipped my coffee.

Pure relaxation

Gorgeous views. Easy beach access. Relaxing screened porch. Comfortable beds. All the necessities. We love staying at Harbor Island. We enjoyed our week and this house.

Fantastic view!

Awesome view in a tidy little house right by the ocean. Perfect size for a family. Great outdoor spaces. Everything you need in the kitchen. Wonderful community with great streets to ride bikes.

Great Location

Pros:This location was great. Great views of the ocean and very close to the beach. Great place to relax and ride bikes around the island and on the beach. House was clean and the size was perfect for our family. Cons: very dated and needs a makeover in the kitchen, bathrooms, bedroom comforters and window blinds!!!

Beautiful views, cozy cottage, great location

We were very pleased with our stay in this property. This was our third trip to Harbor Island, first time outside of a condo. We had everything we needed and enjoyed the view while cooking on the deck. We plan to return in the future to share Harbor Island with the family. Thank you so much.

Hunting Island Family Beach Trip

Generally speaking the home was okay. Great location, great view, and nice layout. However, the home really needs updating and a thorough cleaning, especially the outside deck. The guest bedroom mattress was almost unsleepable and the back deck and furniture on it was filthy. We will not stay at this home again.

Easy beach access

We managed to get this property for an impromptu (less than one week out) trip before school started back. It was incredibly convenient to the beach, with a short boardwalk straight off of the back of the house. It was pet-friendly, but had no sign or smell of previous pet visitors at all. It was very clean, and the space was sufficient for our family of two adults, four kids, and one dog. I would agree with previous reviewers that the home could use an update; while all basic needs were met, the kitchen was not as well stocked for cooking meals as the Harbor Island house we previously rented in August. Additionally, the furniture (particularly seating and mattresses) were definitely well-loved. With that said, we really enjoyed the easy beach access, as well as being able to watch the kids playing on the beach from the back porch.

Perfect size and setup, excellent location, very peaceful.

This home was absolutely lovely. The floor plan was perfect for our family of four, as was the proximity to the beach. The house condition wasn't so pristine that you felt nervous with kids, but instead relaxed. All elements were functional with a kitchen that served well for nearly every meal, a tub for the kids, and a walk-in shower in the master. The back porch and decks were perfectly planned and we were so appreciative to be able to bring our family dog along on all our adventures. The island itself was beautiful and the beaches were spacious, endless, and uncrowded. The dramatic low tides were actually a source for adventure—walking out to a remote sandbar, observing tide pools and sea life like sting rays, horseshoe crabs, live starfish, multiple species of birds, and of course shells and both live and dead sand dollars. You could see the dolphins pass through many days, watch storms roll in, observe the green anoles and crabs, and watch the brown pelicans fish for hours.

Beautiful, homey, cozy, peaceful

I can't say enough good things about this house and the location. It was so quiet and peaceful! If hustle and bustle are what you are looking for this is not your place, but if you want to get away from everything and just breathe and relax and be on island time THIS IS YOUR PLACE! The screened in porch is perfect to sit and look at the beach and hear the ocean, I'm pretty sure almost all 5 of us napped on the couch on the porch at some point that week, it's THAT peaceful. At low tide there is lots to explore and find, starfish, hermit crabs, seashells, horseshoe crab, etc. It was one of the cleanest and well stocked places I've ever stayed! I needed to call/email my contact person a couple times, nothing major just incidental questions, she was very nice and very quick with her responses. My husband and I decided we wanted just one more day so I emailed her and unfortunately it was already booked for the next day so we couldn't stay, but she was so friendly and funny when she replied that I didn't even feel rejected or sad, just made me even more excited to return. You can lay on the bed in 2 of the 3 bedrooms and just stare out at the ocean. Let me tell you that was heaven. There are sliding glass doors in both of those bedrooms leading to their own little porches with chairs. It was seriously one of the cleanest and well-stocked places I've ever stayed! I would absolutely recommend this house for a stay, it is awesome!

Great location and ocean views

Overall we enjoyed our stay at this property. The ocean views are amazing and the private boardwalk makes getting to the beach quick and easy. The house was spacious and the well stocked kitchen was appreciated. We enjoyed sitting on the screened in porch, especially on our first evening when it was very still and the bugs were bad. We were also happy to find a lot of the basics (sugar, coffee filters, dishwasher tabs, olive oil) were already in the house. Just a few items that made our rating lower- the ceiling fan in the master needs to be replaced as it makes a lot of noise when it’s set on any speed other than high. The screen on one of the doors on the porch also needs to be reinstalled. These are just minor items so if your looking for a comfortable place on the beach where you can put your feet up, relax and enjoy yourself, this is it. Harbor Island’s community is pet friendly, welcoming and clean and we would highly recommend staying here to anyone.

Needs tweaking

I’ll start by saying we had a great time and the view is beautiful. For the money we spent for the week it was quite disappointing. The master bedroom blinds on the slider didn’t work. The master shower needs regrouting or a major bleach job. 2 plugs in the twin room don’t work. The queen bed was hard as a rock. When you sit on the sofa you sink down so your sitting on the frame. The kitchen pans need to be thrown away and replaced. If the owners just spent a couple thousand dollars it would greatly improve the property. I think for the money it should have been a little higher quality.

Hi Lisa, Sorry you did not tell us about the blinds or outlets while you were here. We would have fixed the blinds. The outlets are on a dual switch and they work just fine. The house recently sold and the new owner is buying new sofas. I am sure they will replace pots/pans after the crazy summer season. The grouting in the shower will also have to be done after the summer rental season. We have rentals back to back and there isn't time in between guests to take care of those extra items. No one has ever complained about the queen mattress, we are sorry you prefer a softer mattress.

Turner Family

The house was clean and well furnished. Even though the house is dog friendly there was no sign of it. The view is fantastic and only a short walk down the boardwalk to the beach. The screened in porch is a great space to relax and enjoy the view. As a minor comment, the vertical blinds in the bedrooms need to be adjusted to allow them to open fully to enjoy the view. We very much enjoyed our stay.

Quiet and beautiful hideaway

Unique beaches that change drastically with the tide - mostly calm surf. Great area to relax and unwind. Quite a distance to shopping, but not out of reach. Glad house was not right on the beach, but only a short boardwalk away. Great vacation spot!
