Great canal house. We hung out and fished. We really enjoyed our stay. It’s definitely a good choice on the canal.

The house is nice but it’s not for the active family. There are no kayak’s, rafts or anything for the water. Other houses we have stayed in have a lot of water toys for the same nightly rate. So if you’re there for just the water view, it’s a good house. The 3rd bedroom is on the bottom floor with its own access, which wasn’t clear in the listing.

Hi Penny, thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I’m sorry to see we only earned three stars, especially since the items mentioned are things we work hard to communicate clearly in advance. For anyone reading this, I want to offer a bit of context. We do not advertise or imply that we provide water equipment; in fact, our listing specifically notes that we do not supply these items, and we’re always happy to recommend local rental companies for guests who need them. Regarding the layout, the description states: “The bottom floor can only be accessed from the front or back ground floor and is one large room equipped with 1 queen bed and 2 twin bunk beds.” It sounds like this may not have been as clear as intended, so I’ll review the wording to see if it can be made even more straightforward for future guests. We never want anyone to feel misled. Transparency is extremely important to us, and we do our best to set accurate expectations so guests can choose a property that fits their needs. I appreciate the feedback and will use it to continue improving our communication.

This is the first negative review I’ve really had. I’ll first say the host is very nice and responds well but the place definitely needs some work done for the price paid. The house overall was pretty dirty. We had issues with large roaches, mostly downstairs. Kids also complained about ants downstairs but those never saw. Most of the kids ended up sleeping upstairs on the couch’s by end of the stay. Both up and downstairs needed to be swept on arrival. Down stairs was not central AC and is a constant chore with humidifiers needing to be emptied. The bed my wife and I slept in was old and caved in to the middle and really needs to be replaced. We actually tried to find another place nearby that we could stay at but it would be too much a hassle and costly. We wouldn’t go back.

I chose this property because it advertised amenities such as a swimming pool and a canal directly behind the house. As a family with four young children, these amenities were the main reason we booked this stay for our last weekend before the kids returned to school.Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing from the moment we checked in. We encountered one problem after another. When we tried to access the pool, the people there informed us that we needed a pass, even though the listing and our booking indicated that access was included.Communication with the host was also very frustrating. We repeatedly tried to contact them, but because there was little to no cell service, we had to drive back to the house each time just to connect to the Wi-Fi and send messages. Even then, we did not receive timely responses, leaving us without help when we needed it most. To make matters worse, the house did not match the photos or our expectations based on the listing. What was supposed to be a relaxing family getaway before school started turned into a stressful and disappointing experience. Based on our stay, I would not recommend this property to friends or family.
