In a word ICONIC. The famed SugarTop building is truly an icon in North Carolina and stands alone in offering some of the best views in the High Country! Life in the clouds allows you to literally touch the sky from this 8th floor WEST FACING unit in the preferred CITADEL portion of the building. Incredible UNOBSTRUCTED 180 degree JETLINER VIEWS are yours….in sight are the Sugar Mountain slopes, Downtown Banner Elk, Beech Mountain, Eagles Nest and the layered peaks out to Roan Mountain, TN. The SUNSETS are fabulous from this side of the building – enjoy your own private celebration each evening! At night the twinkle lights of the homes and villages below offer quiet solitude.

Inside revel in luxe appointments in this UPSCALE RENOVATED unit! Open concept Dining/ Family Room with tall beamed ceiling, oversize fan and electric fireplace. New designer kitchen with floating shelves, Quartz tops, full overlay soft-close cabinetry and stainless pro-style appliance ensemble. Kitchen is fully equipped with cooking gear/utensils and serving/barware. Dual coffee pots – Keurig and potted. Split bedroom (each with ceiling fans) floorplan allows privacy. Primary Bedroom with ensuite bath boasting walk-in tile shower. Guest Bedroom with hall access to bath with oversize soaking tub/shower. LVP throughout the condo with designer tile at foyer. High end furnishings sourced by the owners with many pieces from Tatum Galleries with Jill Zarin rugs throughout. Stacked LG washer/dryer. Fully stocked with linens/towels and starter packs of toiletry items.

LOCATION & THINGS TO DO
Our condo has something for all seasons. We are conveniently located in the heart of the High Country attractions: 5.7 miles to downtown Banner Elk, 9.2 miles to Grandfather Mountain State Park, 16.7 miles to Blowing Rock, and 16.8 miles to Boone. Please take a look at our Visitors Guidebook to explore the many adventures that await you – from hikes and ziplines, to bountiful restaurants, wineries, breweries there’s truly something for everyone in the High Country!

THINGS TO BE AWARE OF:
This building sits literally on top of a mountain peak at a roughly mile-high elevation. As such those with breathing issues may need to consult their physician prior to booking. Also just keep that in mind as there are not vast flat areas around the building.

SugarTop does not have AC. Due to our mile-high elevation, even summer evenings can be a bit chilly - please use the electric fireplace if you desire to add some cozy warmth! During midday peak temps, simply open the windows or balcony door and enjoy the fresh mountain breezes.
There are ceiling fans in both bedrooms, as well as the living room.

There is elevator access to each floor at SugarTop – you will not need to climb any stairs.

Please note we are ***strictly*** NO PETS/NO SMOKING – not just in our unit but in the entire building with no exceptions. You will incur a $250 charge and have to leave with no refunds. HOA regulations only allow unit owners to have pets on the premises.

During ski season there is no need to drive to the ski resort! Sugar Mountain offers shuttle service to the Ski Resort from SugarTop during weekends and holidays of peak season (schedule applies).

We are in the Citadel portion of the building. This portion of the building was built a couple of years after the rest of SugarTop and has its own quieter vibe. When you come off the main elevators you will walk down the long hall to the Citadel door. Once in The Citadel, we are the first unit on the left.

Due to HOA requirements, guests must be at least 25 years of age to book. Guests under 25 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian for the duration of the reservation.

Property has some high end art, furniture with sharp objects and is on the 8th floor with a balcony (steep drop). There are not cribs, high chairs, playpens available at the property. The HOA pool, hot tub and sauna on the ground level are not lifeguard protected. There are generally steep drops around the property as it sits on top of a mountain cliff. Seasonally there is a bear that roams property. As such may not be a match for small children.



DRIVING & PARKING
If coming to the mountains in the winter, please be prepared with an AWD or 4-wheel drive vehicle.

You may have read about parking at SugarTop. Understanding the why and arriving with proper expectations will save some undo stress:

SugarTop Resort was built on a peak with parking lots tiered down the mountain-side. The parking area immediately at the building is reserved for owners first and then guests based on availability. During busier times, guests may be directed to one of the lower lots to park. In this case, SugarTop has a shuttle/suburban service that will bring you easily to and from your vehicle. Staff are available 24/7. Weekends, holidays, and winter months can be busy times; when this occurs, guests are always able to load and unload at the main entrance, and call ahead to the desk to have a shuttle waiting for their departure. The phone number for the front desk is in the unit for you to use.

*Pro tip – load in, then send one person down to park. When going out, send one person to get the car and pick everyone else up at main entrance.
*During non-peak times you may be able to remain parked up in the top lot at the building – just ask the security team at check-in.

GUEST ACCESS
This is a guarded, double gated community - proper ID will be required of everyone in your party at lower gatehouse and temporary vehicle access pass will be granted by a member of the security team to get you through the lower gate. If visiting during an off-peak time and you are able to utilize the upper parking area, security will buzz you through the second gate.

You will have access to the entire condo (except small locked owners closet). Zip down the elevator to enjoy the indoor pool area, workout facilities and steam room/sauna – all with fabulous views! HOA rules are posted in condo with pool/sauna policies and attire. There is also a wine/beer bar, coffee bar and open pantry with food items, some pharmacy style items, etc in the main SugarTop lobby. Purchases can be made at the front desk.

There are designated ski storage facilities in the building. No skis/poles etc can be stored in the condo.

Also please note the weather does change quickly in the mountains – in the Spring/Summer months you may want to pack a pair of jeans/sweatshirt for chilly nights.

Our stay at this Sugar Top condo was absolutely wonderful. From the moment we arrived, the check-in process was seamless, and the parking and front desk staff were incredibly friendly and eager to help - such a warm welcome. The condo itself is beautifully appointed with a cozy, comfortable vibe that made us feel right at home. The views? Simply breathtaking- truly “million dollar” scenery that you won’t want to miss. We were there to celebrate my Mom’s birthday and the space was perfect: clean, inviting, and thoughtfully prepared.The host was extremely responsive, and the instructions for our stay were clear and easy to follow. We especially appreciated the local recommendations - they added a personal touch and helped us make the most of our time in the High Country. We would absolutely recommend staying here. It’s one of the best spots in the area, and those views alone make it worth every moment. Can’t wait to come back!
