The Strand Sun Ray is a luxurious condominium perfect for families. From the balcony you have a breathtaking view of the crystal clear lagoon each and the Caribbean Sea. The private sandy beach is a joy for kids and features nice palm trees, palapas (palm leaved umbrellas) and lounge chairs to enjoy the best beach day ever. The lagoon is excellent for swimming and snorkeling. There is also a large swimming pool. The Strand Sun Ray is situated in a secured resort which has a private parking space for each condominium.

FEATURES

The Strand Sun Ray features 3 bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king size bed, walk-in closet and spacious bathroom with shower, double sink and toilet. The second bedroom has 2 single beds. There is an en-suite bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. The third bedroom has 1 twin bed. There is an en-suite bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. In the hallway is a guest toilet. The kitchen is modern and fully equipped with high end finishes. There is a seating area inside and a dining area outside on the balcony overlooking the ocean.

AMENITIES

The condominium is equipped with high speed wireless internet, flat screen with cable TV in both living area and master bedroom. The kitchen has all appliances needed for a home cooked meal such as refrigerator with ice cubes and water, cooking appliance, oven, microwave, coffee maker (Nespresso, regular small pods), toaster, etc. The unit has a central AC system that you can adjust for your comfort. Please note that electricity usage is only covered up to a limited allowance, and additional consumption will be charged. Utility costs are very high on the island, so we kindly ask guests to use the AC thoughtfully and keep the environmental impact in mind. There is a European washer and dryer available. The property features 220 voltage European style (circular) outlets only. Adapters are available. Cleaning is planned after every 7th day with linen change.

LOCATION AND SURROUNDINGS

The Strand Sun Ray is located only a few blocks away from the historic town center and harbor of Willemstad. In the direct surroundings you find different international and local restaurants and cocktail bars. The recently renovated "Pietermaai Small" area with its small streets and colorful houses is the ultimate Curacao experience. Lots to explore also in the many museums and at the oldest synagogue of the Western Hemisphere Mikve-Israel Emanuel.

Karin was great and met us at the condo when we arrived and showed us how everything worked. She was quick to respond to any needs or questions we had. Loved the patio and the private beach area. Was walkable to many great restaurants and to the floating bridge. Had a wonderful stay and are sad to leave this beautiful island! It is our new favorite!

Perfect Central Location with Quiet Beach & Pool

Property was perfect for our family. Everything exactly as described. Private little beach and pool were nice and quiet!Really good restaurants in walking distance. Everything was great. Literally the only complaint was not knowing we needed adapters coming from the US and the beds are very firm. (Property manager brought us a few adapter so that wasn’t a problem for the week.)Highly recommend and hope to come again!

A Perfect Curacao Getaway!

This is the perfect place to stay while in Curacao! The facilities are beautiful, clean, and quiet. Perfect for a relaxing vacation! Everyone I dealt with was helpful and friendly throughout our stay and booking process. The location is right on the water with a private beach and pool. The condo has a beautiful kitchen but we hardly used it as we were in walking distance of TONS of amazing restaurants. It is also super close to downtown Willemstad, Mambo beach, the grocery store and gas station for filling up the rental car (which I highly recommend getting to explore the island). We had an amazing week on this BEAUTIFUL island at this wonderful property. We WILL be back!!!

Perfect apartment for family between beach and city

Clean and well situated. Apartment is 10 min walk from nice restaurant and 15 min walk (with sidewalks) to center Willemstad. Beach in front is nice for snorkeling or just swimming. Plenty of beach chairs and umbrellas available. Communication with host is easy (Saskia does a wonderful job). I recommend strongly.

The view was spectacular! The property manager was prompt with replies. Very nice people! The condo was very well equipped and comfortable. We used the air conditioner quite often and still did not go over the electrical limit.

Awesome stay

The condo had everything we were looking for. Beautiful view, plenty of space, access to a beach and pool on the property. The location was in a good central location. Sometimes we ventured to beaches in the north which were further, but we also went to the south beaches and golfing. Very clean with a nice kitchen and balcony with a cool breeze. Property management was amazing and made check in and out very easy.

Excellent family vacation home! Highly recommend!

Our family (2 adults+1 child) stayed in this property early October 2022. The condo matches everything on the pictures, it was spotless, spacious, well maintained. Communication was easy and property host Saskia met us in person upon arrival and was responsive throughout our stay if I had questions via text or phone calls. We couldn't have asked for a better location and a better property. Highly recommended. It is conveniently located on a nice street, walking distance to many attractions, tons of great restaurants, shops, yet the street itself is very quiet and feels very safe. We did snorkeling from our beach to Avila Hotel next door, the snorkeling was amazing without getting in the car. Later we discovered many great swimming, snorkeling and dive sites on the island, many within 15 min drive. If I have to make any suggestions, it would have been nice to have shampoo, conditioner, and basic non perishable supplies in the kitchen, therefore an immediate grocery shopping was necessary and solved all the needs. We do have plenty of dishes, glassware, cookware, blender, coffee and tea maker in the kitchen. Plenty of towels and blankets. There was an electricity usage charge, which turned out to be $33.00 extra for the entire duration. It seems reasonable. Again, very happy stay, will definitely stay again. Highly recommend!

Perfect place to stay

We stayed at the Strand for 11 nights. It was the perfect property. Loved having the full kitchen that was so well stocked with everything you need to cook dinners. The private beach and lagoon were also amazing for us and the kids. We started snorkeling in the lagoon and then ventured out to many of the island beaches. Check in and check out were a breeze and the mid stay housekeeping was amazing. We loved our time in Curasao and plan on returning as soon as possible.

Excellent hospitality! Great location and ocean view!

Stranded at Curacao for unforeseen reasons, we were allowed to stay at this amazing condo for some nights. The host made us feel very welcome and we loved every minute of it. The beach is sandy and lagoon great for swimming. Would have loved to stay longer!

Misrepresentation

Whilst the flat was OK, it was not the one we had rented. When booking the flat back in June it was listed under a 6-digit number. When trying to look it up again later (after having made the booking) it did not show up. I contacted the person who had confirmed the order (Jolanda) and got a story about the listing being removed as the owner wanted to focus on long-term leases but that our booking was obviously in order. She then sent me a link for the flat that she said we had rented. When looking through the pictures from that listing it became clear to me that there were many pictures in the listing that was NOT from 'our' flat. This made us uncomfortable as the flat we had booked had a sunset view whereas the one shown in the pictures, had a wall blocking the sunset. I had seen this listing when making the initial booking and had for that specific reason, avoided it. In spite of sending several mails to Jolanda she could not confirm to me which flat we had been allocated. When we arrived it became clear that we had in fact received a different flat than the one we had booked. It also turned out that many of the pictures in the listing was from a different flat altogether! This is completely unacceptable and I pointed this out to Jolanda in several mails. I was told to 'enjoy the holiday' (or in other words: don't bother me - you can do nothing about it anyway!). Is was a very disappointing experience to be treated in such a condescending manner and we are most unlikely to rent from Jolanda in the future.

This property was perfect for our vacation in Curacao. It is just a short walk into Punda for shopping and eating. Also, several incredible restaurants right down the block. Loved having access to the beach and pool right outside. Truly, could not have asked for a better place to stay!!!!

Perfect location, amazing view, fantastic amenitie

This three bedroom apartment with a view of the ocean was the perfect place for us to spend our Christmas holidays. It’s is a three bedroom, 4 bathroom, fully stocked unit on the third floor. The view is spectacular and the private beach makes it easy to sit back and forget about everything. We enjoyed eating on the patio as well as walking into town (about 15 minutes), and eating at all the great restaurants nearby. The 4 bathrooms and 3 bedrooms (1 king bed, 2 single/twin beds and two single/twin bunk beds (one up one down) make it ideal for staying with a bunch of people. Thanks Jo and Zita for a great experience, smooth check-in and an awesome time.

Exceptional Property on a Diverse Island

The Strand is located next to two other condo/resorts and within walking distance to town. We did have a hiccup upon arrival. We were given the wrong phone number hence showed up at the condo without a way to get in or someone to contact. After about 1.5 hours and contacting VRBO, our escort arrived and everything turned out fine. The condo is spacious and updated with a great balcony. The pool and beach areas are very nice but were getting quite windy when we were there in April/May. A wedding took place at the venue beside us which was fun to watch but went well into the night (2am) with fireworks at 11:30 pm. We went to the bar at the Avila, one condo down and there are a few cute restaurants within a 5 mnute walk. Last note, you will be hearing roosters and dogs barking in the distance every day.

Comfortable condo with a beautiful view

The property was great. Comfortable beds, necessities provided, etc. the beach was nice and our 2 and 5 year olds loved going on crab hunts and looking in all the snail shells, etc. I even saw 2 small eels in the shallow rocks. We were often the only ones on the beach, so we didn’t have to worry about them wandering off. The location is good, not too far from town or the Aquarium in the opposite direction. We were warned not to walk after dark by many people (even to walk two buildings down for dinner), so we did rent a car, which I understand is pretty much a necessity when on the island. The town is nearby, and on the day before we left, we found Mambo Beach, which is less than a 5 minute drive. Great beach with lots of restaurants and shops. Wish we’d found that earlier. We are pretty social people, and like to make conversation with others. We found some of the people of Curacao very friendly and welcoming, but probably about 70% were not, or took some real effort to get them to loosen up. We went to Bonaire after our week here, and were pleasantly surprised with the opposite. There was a lot of poverty on the island, which may explain some of the demeanor. We had a fantastic time diving with Goby Divers, who were absolutely wonderful. The island food, left a lot to be desired for the 3 adults in our party. The best food we had was at a Mexican restaurant at Mambo beach. I did like the property, especially since we could choose to hang out on the private beach, or take a short ride to Mambo beach if we were looking for something more active. Go to one of the larger grocery stores that you can walk around instead of the small ones behind bars where you just tell the attendant what you want and they get it for you. The selection at the larger store is pretty good, but don’t expect all the comforts of home. If there is something you specifically want, pack it before you come. They did have produce, milk, bread, peanut butter, jelly, cereal, diapers, alcohol, etc. much like a grocery store in the US, but maybe a third of the size with less selection, and most of the meat looked weird to me. Definitely enough to get you through the week though. Pack lots of sunscreen, as it is expensive on the island. Thank you to our host at the condo, Goby Divers, and the Dolphin Experience was awesome at the aquarium.

Wonderful stay!

The condo was very clean and well maintained. The private beach and lagoon was great, never had to worry about getting a chair, no vendors or anyone bothering you. The manager is very responsive and promptly answered any question or request. We rented a car and used it a lot. There are restaurants, grocery store etc fairly close but just a little too far away to walk and we were cautioned about walking home at night. We never felt unsafe but heeded the advice anyway. We would definitely go back to The Strand if we're in Curaçao again.

The unit we stayed at is on the 3rd floor, so there is a great view from the balcony. The Strand is a very good location, within walking distance to Punda. A car is necessary to explore the island.

This one is a keeper!

The apartment we stayed in is perfect for families with young children. Ground floor, in front of pool area, wonderful long balcony with big table and chairs for lovely diners al fresco with an amazing ocean breeze. A/C through out the apartment, nice Bosch appliances (there is a dishwasher) and updated bathrooms. The only complain was that there were no blackout curtains in the master bedroom, third bedroom and living room, only sheer curtains; apparently the owner was solving that issue. Also two burners (out of four), were not working in the stove (not really a problem for us), and you couldn't get crushed ice from the refrigerator, only in cubes (not a problem for us either). It would be good to have a manual or an idea on how to use the ovens. We used them as regular convection ovens but apparently you could use one of them as a microwave. Also the dryer was not very efficient, although we emptied the water tank several times. Big issue is the internet. The wifi was very poor, but this is not a problem of this apartment, is a general issue for the island. So be advised that the wifi is limited. The people in the building were wonderful. We met other families with children, mostly Dutch, they were so nice and welcoming. The beach/ lagoon is really safe and perfect for a swim. There is not too much of a "shore" for the kids to play, and only a small area with shallow waters....then is pretty deep. The apartment is well stocked with all the basics: utensils (yes there is a wine bottle opener), plates, cups, glassware, american coffee maker, Nespresso (without the capsules), pots and pans, towels, linens, and although they told me that there were no toiletries, we had soap, shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The rest, you need to get at a local supermarket: from dish washer soap, to mineral water, salt, spices, or whatever you need to cook. There are no garbage bags, or sponges, or dishwasher machine soap. I suggest the owner to offer these in the apartment, since is really basic and necessary when renting. I will definitely come back to this apartment. My kids loved it. We were close to the city center, and about 10mins to Saliñas (Albert Heijn supermarket). Nice clean and modern place

Apartment is on the second floor and has a really great ocean view, nice balcony over a beautiful lagoon, that you can snorkel in. Inside the apartment is spacious, modern and very clean. It is equipped with top notch all new Bosch appliances. The beds are very comfortable. The place by itself is worth five stars, if not for a few issues below. Our biggest complaint is WiFi quality. It's so unreliable so it was probably down 25-30% of the time. It does not have a dedicated WiFi router in the apartment, but instead you have to rely on the common signal in the pool area. This signal only reaches the living room, master bedroom and the balcony, but the worst part that even there it hangs completely several times a day and stays like this sometimes for hours. This is 21st century and internet is as important as electricity today, so we think it is a very big deal when internet is so unreliable. The other smaller complaints are the lack of many essentials like bottle opener (had to ask the neighbors), dish washing liquid, detergent, paper towels or such non-perishable items like salt. We had to go to the supermarket and buy absolutely everything in rather large packs and leave most of it behind as we could not use it all in one week. Nevertheless we had a great time and enjoyed the place. We also took advantage of another resort next door (AVILA) that we were allowed to visit and eat in their restaurant, have cocktails on the beach and swim in their lagoons.

Modern and relaxing

We arrived in Curaçao on Saturday, Jan 30, 2016 at noon. We were instructed to call a contact at The Strand upon our arrival. This was a bit complicated as none of us have International calling packages on our phones nor did we have a taxi driver or anyone to borrow a phone from. We would have preferred an email contact. Once we worked thru that small problem we were met at our condo by a weekend manager and shown the ins and outs of our place. Fabulous location, walkable to most things, great swimmable lagoon, decent pool. Master bedroom was wonderful and had a walk- in closet! Only complaint was the bars for the upper level hangers were extremely high and unreachable, thus useless for us. Nice bathroom but again, the mirrors were too high to see into. This was remedied by the full length mirror in our closet. The second bedroom was decent and also had an attached bathroom, third bedroom was more like a barracks with a bathroom that forced you to sit on the toilet to wash your hands. We didn't use it at all- oh so tiny! Kitchen was great and well- stocked with dishes, pans, and silverware. Loved the deck over-looking the water, spent a lot of time out there with our tea watching the coming and going of the ships. We would stay here again, worked out well for 3 friends.

Beautiful Condo!

We rented 7/04/15 - 7/11/15 and had four adults in our group. The condo deserves 5 stars. It was bright, well laid out, in excellent condition and well equipped. The pool & lagoon are beautiful. The condo balcony was our favorite spot! Jo with Curacao Island Rentals she was extremely responsive and fabulous to deal with. They provided a local phone for our stay, which we didn't use much but it was certainly nice to have. Most correspondence was done by email and the Wifi made that easy. Some reviewers mentioned not having some essentials. We would have appreciated dishwasher soap, a mop (when you turn the A/C off during the day the floors instantly become wet), paper towels and extra batteries for the safe (used key). One kitchen towel for the entire week was interesting. However, all things that we made due with/without. Our original intent was not to rent a car since our research revealed that we could walk to most everything. Willemstad & the grocery store are all in walking distance. We walked 2 blocks to dinner on Tuesday night. To our surprise we were escorted home by a security guard that told us that it wasn't safe to walk after dark since tourists are often robbed by locals that he referred to as 'bandits'. We asked another person about the area and they confirmed that it was not safe to walk after dark, which is 7 pm in Curacao! We regrouped the next day & rented a car, since staying at the condo every evening for the duration of the trip would have put a damper on our vacation. The parking lot at the Strand is gated with security guards on duty in the evening to early AM. The island is diverse & colorful; one day we ended up driving through an abandon resort on the West end and the next we were having lunch at a luxury resort. The harbor was a great stop for coffee & breakfast. We snorkeled with Pelican Express, which was a great time. Mambo beach was a great destination for the day & also had a delicious dinner there on our last night. There is much to see on the island! The amounts of trash scattered on the island and in close proximity to the condo was excessive. There are abandon properties close to the Strand that are littered with beer bottles, appliances and more. The city has posted information in Willemstad that they are working on cleaning up the area but based on what we saw, it will take some time. It was an adventure & a great way to celebrate our 50th birthdays!

Girls Getaway

Very clean, well stocked kitchen, contemporary appliances. Had an issue with a water leak in second bathroom, but maintenance responded quickly, even though they were not able to fix the problem before we left. Walked to small grocery and to two nice restaurants where we were escorted after dark by security guards. However, we did not feel threatened. Also ate next door at Avila hotel, and went to Jazz night at their bar. The pool area and beach front was clean and accessible. There was assigned parking for our rental car in gated lot. Bridget (manager) programmed a local phone for us which we used to make reservations. She also arranged our taxi to and from the airport. Also car rental was available at the Avila hotel making pickup and return very easy. Every one was friendly and helpful. Great girls getaway and would definitely return.
