New in our program, this home has many great reviews from past guests.

Enjoy this fabulous and fabulously located charming Outer Banks home! Witness spectacular panoramic views of the ocean, the charming town of Buxton, and the famous lighthouse (whose light flashes through the house and on the dunes as you gaze out looking over the ocean from the top and bottom oceanfront decks at night!). An oceanfront home, it is situated on Old Lighthouse Road and is our closest detached house to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and provides an unequaled blend of luxury and seclusion. With a secluded beach right out front and stretches of the same to the north and south, there is only a 200-yard walk south between the surf and dunes - along one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in the OBX - that will take you to the original Cape Hatteras lighthouse location.

All new for 2024, this home offers new flooring throughout the home. Four generous bedrooms and laundry and nursery/reading room make up the first level - including a six-person hot tub on the oceanfront lower deck. Guests will love the full top floor main level featuring high cathedral ceilings with incredible views. Open kitchen, breakfast bar, dining area and half bath accommodate large families comfortably. The sunny loft offers quiet solitude and stellar views overlooking the main floor, the ocean, the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, and the charming Buxton beach community. Fish, surf, swim, and beachcomb - unwind, relax and build lifelong memories from this perfect oceanfront Outer Banks location in the very special township of Buxton!

Things to Know
You will be required to sign an additional lease agreement upon making a booking which will be sent to your email. You will not be able to check in until we have received your signature electronically. Please contact us directly if you do not receive this agreement.
Please note: Guests have access to the Club Hatteras Pool Facility. Additional details around this facility will be shared in your check-in email and during the check-in process. The club is typically open mid-May to mid-October, depending on weather.

Great Experience

Overall, we had a great experience. The house was clean and very well taken care of. Beach access was easy. The only issue we experienced was that we were not notified at check in or check out that we had to go to the club house to get and return the keys so I had to reach out to customer service to find that information.

Sea Star in Buxton, NC

This was a great location! We love the OBX and being right by the Hatteras Lighthouse and the National Seashore was spectacular without giving up convenience of nearby stores. We had a great week!!

This house had such a beautiful view, sunrise was stunning every day! The captains chairs on the deck were perfect for relaxing after a day at the beach and the hot tub was refreshing.

Wonderful house & location!!!

The house is amazing - period! Definitely the best place we've ever stayed on Hatteras Island/Outer Banks. Well furnished, plenty of room and spectacular views. Couldn't have been more pleased. We'll definitely be back and will tell others about our great experience.

Family time

I work remotely and this gave me an opportunity to have some downtime with my husband and my parents. Beautiful weather in February and super quiet!

We do enjoy our visits to Sea Star! Perfect location and nothing beats enjoying your morning coffee on the deck watching the sunrise! This was our third stay in this comfy, cozy (spacious) home. We do appreciate this being a pet friendly home as well since there is nothing better for a dog than jumping for joy on the beach!

Very nice home, perfect location

Could have been a bit cleaner, especially in kitchen area. No trash bags available. A starter kit with dishwashing soap (by hand, not machine) and coffee filters would be good, as would some dish towels since linens are provided. Some in my party complained that the beds are too hard and pillows too fat, but I was comfortable with what was provided. Overall it is a beautiful home in great condition and the location is perfection!

We would also like to clarify that we do not provide coffee filters. We understand that some members of your party found the beds a bit firm and the pillows too full, though we are glad you felt comfortable. Thank you again for your honest and thoughtful feedback. Ugh

Vacasa is so hard to deal with. The hot tub was broken and a man came to replace the hot tube the day we checked out.

Hot tub was nice. Lots of room. Lots of ocean front rooms and views. Beach access from the house was difficult and sometimes impossible. No place to hookup the hammock.

Thanksgiving Week

So thankful to spend our week enjoying the gorgeous ocean views from Sea Star. Love how the Hatteras light shines in the house. Kitchen had all necessary pots and pans and dishes for our Thanksgiving feast. Thankful there was a charcoal grill to cook the turkey. The location is perfect for bike riding, walking the beach, bird watching, walking to the Lighthouse and Buxton community.

Perfect location

Comfortable home with lots of amenities in a quiet, secluded location right on the Atlantic. Doesn't get much better than that. Sunrises from the deck were beautiful. Especially appreciated that this home was pet friendly so we could bring our dog. House was clean and full of personal touches. Kitchen was well stocked with dishes/cookware/small appliances. Beds were comfortable. Would definitely rent this home again.

Great family Christmas beach trip!

The house is large, ‘lived in’ (comfy not fussy) and has everything you need! Beach chairs, kitchen utensils, even a Christmas tree! Only complaint was the hot tub was not working when we arrived and the management company gave us the run around until we went to office and said we’d wait there until they made firm arrangements to get it serviced (which they eventually did).

Sea Star for the WIN

We just can't say enough great things about this home. The location is literally PERFECT! Enjoying the morning coffee on the deck overlooking the ocean and watching the sunrise is incredible. The home is cozy and inviting with gracious hosts. While it is big enough to accommodate a large family, my husband and I were selfish this trip and had it all to ourselves. Beach access is just a 2 minute walk. We cannot to come back for our next visit in April!

While it is nice to have rentals that are pet friendly this necessitates more vigorous cleaning between guests. The dog hair on the sofa was disgusting. Also, there was so much sand in the sheets of several of the beds that we were able to scoop it up in our hands.In addition, there was a storm in the area of our original rental two weeks prior to our stay that rendered that area unusable. However, rather than letting us know immediately, we were not notified until two days before. This resulted in a lot of stress and stole time from my family who had flown in from out of state while limiting our options of available rentals.

Home away from home

We’ve been coming to Buxton for over 25 yrs; staying in random lodging. Finally, our search for the “perfect place” is over. Sea Star is awesome! Amazing views from everywhere in the home, perfectly laid out for entertaining, and a deck that gives a sunrise view beyond compare. Everything was clean and comfortable. The beds were also very comfy! We’ve already booked out next to 2 semi annual visits and are counting the days until the next time we come this great little town and a truly great home! Thank you to the owners for making allowing us to enjoy this slice of beachy heaven!

Great views

What a beautiful location! Wide open ocean view and of course the lighthouse! The house was clean and set up well for a group. The only problem we had was the sand burrs. It was hard to find a spot to walk our dog without her picking up a bunch in her paws. I would suggest bringing needle nose pliers. Otherwise, we really loved to place!

Beautiful Retreat in Buxton

WOW! You simply cannot beat the views from Sea Star #44-B. This ocean front home was a perfect retreat for our family of four (though more would have fit comfortably). The hot tub on the oceanfront deck was enjoyed by all with stunning views. Although the home is oceanfront, there was a VERY short walk to the beach access. This was not a problem at all and we are picky! The home's sweeping views of the Atlantic were simply amazing. We are amateur astronomers and we thoroughly enjoyed the Milky Way right from the deck and right over the ocean. The "point" was an easy walk and shelling along the beach was awesome. We didn't have a chance to visit the Cape Hatteras lighthouse this trip but the views of it were spectacular. The kitchen and large family room had everything we needed. We will definitely return to Sea Star #44-B ... hopefully sooner than later! We've stayed in homes from Duck to Hatteras for 20 years and our (now adult) son said "I think this is the new go to place!".

Incredible location

Big beachfront property with 5 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths. First floor is storage with some beach toys and chairs, second floor is bedrooms, 2 full baths and washer and dryer. Third floor is living room, raised sitting area, kitchen and three sets of tables and and chairs and half bath. There are second and third floor decks facing the ocean with tons of chairs. Hot tub is on the second floor. Incredible view with house mere yards to the ocean. A short path through the yard and you are there. We loved the many books, puzzles and games in the house. There are two regular drip coffee makers but no filters. The water in the house did not smell/taste good to me so we bought drinking water. We did use the ice from the ice maker in the freezer and it didn't seem to change the taste of drinks. Tons of pots, pans, dishes, utensils, plates, bowls, and serving ware. Absent were any spices or seasonings except salt and pepper. Usually these things are collected from person to person but not in this case. Nothing in the fridge either so be prepared to bring your own ketchup, mustard, etc. They were more generous with toilet paper than other houses I've rented but only provided 2-3 trash can liners and dishwasher tablets. The dishwasher and the washing machine ran but did not work well at all. The hot tub was warm and worked great the first time we used it, but cold the second time even though it was still obviously powered on. Incredible, beautiful location. My only complaint: check in.
