Walk straight from Boulders Gate into Joshua Tree National Park and its boulders, then come home to an in-ground pool and hot tub facing the same formations, 8 minutes from downtown Joshua Tree. After dark, climb to the rooftop deck, where a fire pit and 360-degree views make stargazing easy, with an indoor sauna for cool nights. Designed by Wolfgang Pichler Design, this five-bedroom main house and casita in South Joshua Tree frames boulders and sky through floor-to-ceiling windows.



The Space:

-Respecting the Desert & Dark Skies-

This home sits adjacent to Joshua Tree National Park and is surrounded by incredible wildlife, natural beauty, and some of the darkest night skies in Southern California. To help preserve this special environment and be considerate of our neighbors, we kindly ask all guests to keep music, conversations, and other noise at a respectful level throughout their stay.



This is not a party house. Please do not book this property if you are planning to party.



Quiet hours are from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM. All music must be turned off by 10:00 PM, and conversations should be kept at a low volume to avoid disturbing neighbors and wildlife. Only the property's built-in Sonos sound system may be used. Portable speakers, DJ equipment, amplified sound systems, and other external audio devices are strictly prohibited. Excess noise can result in county fines that will be passed on to you as the guest and the termination of your reservation without refund.



In support of Joshua Tree’s Dark Sky Ordinance and to minimize light pollution, all exterior landscape lighting automatically turns off at 9:00 PM each evening. For your convenience, we provide lanterns to help you safely navigate the outdoor areas after dark.

Boulders Gate is a fully reimagined property on private acreage directly bordering Joshua Tree National Park, designed by Wolfgang Pichler Design with natural wood, stone and handmade zellige tile. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame boulders, sky and the valley below. A three-bedroom main house and a two-bedroom casita each have a kitchen, and the casita adds laundry, a sauna and a gym space. Outside are an in-ground pool and hot tub, a poolside fire pit, an outdoor kitchen and a rooftop deck. It suits families and groups of up to 14.

-Outdoor Amenities-

The in-ground pool and hot tub sit among native plants, overlooking boulder formations that glow at sunrise and sunset, with loungers and a fire pit with outdoor seating nearby. The main house's rooftop deck has 360-degree views of the desert and mountains, plus its own fire pit and seating. There is a front patio seating area, an outdoor dining table off the main kitchen, and a built-in outdoor kitchen with a BBQ, sink and mini fridge by the pool. Step beyond the property and you can walk directly into Joshua Tree National Park among the boulders.



-Living Area-

The main house living areas have very tall ceilings and walls of glass looking out to the pool, boulders and valley. One seating area faces the outdoors, and the other is centered on a smart TV with surround sound. Books, board games and a Sonos sound system are available.



-Kitchen and Dining-

The main house kitchen has white oak cabinetry, natural stone countertops, zellige tile, double ovens, a gas stovetop, a coffee setup with Joshua Tree Coffee Co. coffee and a bar area for cocktails. A center island with a breakfast bar sits near the main dining area. Outside are an outdoor dining table and the poolside outdoor kitchen. The casita has its own fully stocked kitchen, with a fridge but no freezer.



-Bedrooms and Bathrooms-

The main house has three bedrooms, all with king beds, ensuite bathrooms and desks. The downstairs primary suite has a soaking tub and walk-in shower; a second downstairs bedroom has an ensuite bathroom that also opens to the living area; and the upstairs bedroom has an ensuite with a walk-in shower. In the casita, an upstairs king bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with a shower, and a downstairs bunk room has two queen bunk beds and a bathroom nearby off the casita kitchen.



-Surrounding Area-

Boulders Gate sits at the edge of Joshua Tree National Park, with walking access from the property. If you want to drive through the park, the official West Entrance is about 18 minutes away. Joshua Tree town, about 8 minutes away, has eclectic shops, local cafes and an artistic community, and the area offers guided hikes, rock climbing and sound baths.

The entire house and property are yours to enjoy!



Please note that a few supply closets in the laundry room are locked and used for housekeeping and maintenance.
