This property is not as presented on the VRBO website. As we entered the front door of the home, immediately inside was the washer/dryer with an “out of order” sign posted. The refrigerator had a non-working ice maker and no trays to manually make ice. The kitchen was minimally outfitted with very sparse, basic equipment. When removing the sheets as requested for check-out we found the bed pad taped together with duct tape! The large yard “perfect for outdoor entertaining and relaxation” was full of rocks, metal pieces and piles of sand inside a broken fence. In fact, during our stay representatives from the Village of Hempstead building department showed up to investigate their concern for the property’s high yard grass, uncharacteristic for this residential neighborhood. . And no barbeque grill to be found in that yard. During the night we could see a light shining through the bottom of the indoor locked basement door and heard computer generated voices and other noise activity. With bars on most of the windows there was also just one egress out of the home. Concerns relayed to the host and hostess via text messages were answered with apologies but without any resolution of the concerns we had. We were offered a small amount of money to use a laundromat in the area.
