Large private pool! Old Town Cottage 1 block from the Marina STR 181918

We are pleased to announce that we now have a very large private pool in our backyard!! The pool is only available for those guests currently staying at our home.
Our 1940's beach home is a Harvey survivor and has been completely restored with new stainless steel appliances, fresh paint and flooring and all the modern amenities. The high ceilings, beefy pine moldings and oversized windows with original screened in porch & rustic outdoor shower make for an unforgettable vintage beach retreat experience that is sure to please everyone in the family.
The fully equipped kitchen, indoor & outdoor dining areas, 2 bedrooms and 1 bath are located on the main level of the house. There is a separate outside entrance to the Crow's Nest loft where an additional bedroom, sitting area and toilet/sink/changing area are located. The large screened in porch is the perfect place to escape, after a long day at the beach, with your favorite beverage, take a nap, read a book or play a board game with the kids. The enclosed outdoor shower with hot & cold water located off the back entrance makes cleaning off sand quick and easy. Walking distance to most of downtown, the marina, Charlies Pasture and ferry landing. Mermaids and big kahunas of all ages welcome!!

Nice and Quiet

In general the stay was great, we have no complaints. The interior of the house was as expected, it was clean, no signs of bugs/rodents. The house was equipped with all we needed. The back yard and pool has got to be the best part of this home. We probably spent about 90% of the time out in the pool.

The perfect rental

This is a beautiful home in the perfect location. Super close to the ferry and our favorite restaurant Finn's. Love the screened in front porch and pool. The separate loft is perfect for teenagers. The owners are quick to respond. Definitely recommend. I just hope it's a available next time. Don't want to stay anywhere else.

Favorite place

This was by far the cleanest VRBO we've ever stayed in. It isn’t anything fancy but the front porch is cute and the pool is excellent. The owners also provided a lot of the extras like paper towels, trash bags, and beach accessories. We’ll be back next year.

Great outdoor space!!

We loved our stay. The house is absolutely adorable but the backyard space is definitely the show stopper. The pool was much bigger than we expected, and the water felt perfect! The outdoor shower was also a great amenity. We will definitely stay here again!!

More than you expect

This house had everything plus more options than expected. I will start with the negative which will be short: the steps to the side entrance need a little stabilization. They are solid but once you get outside of the stringers you can feel the steps shift a little, paver stones under the steps would solve the issue. The house was just right for us, there was plenty of space, the layout for the main house was good. The Crow’s Nest left a knot on my head, the slopped roof and ceiling can be deceptive at first (even my 5’3” daughter bumped her head when trying to get to the electric plug on the wall. Personally, I would prefer access to the Crow’s Nest from inside the main house, but in doing this space would be lost inside the house.There were plenty of spices and dishes in the cabinets. The gas stove was very spacious. The refrigerator/freezer has plenty of space for the essentials a person will need for a few days. The pool was quite the surprise. I’m used to the small pools of 8’x12’; this pool was double the size plus some. I loved sitting with my morning at the table in the back corner of the yard. If you are on a budget, looking for something that will exceed you expectations, this house is the place to go. Overall, I rate this house a 5 out of 5 stars.

Pool Sells It, One of the nicest pools on the island for the price point

Location is great, neighborhood is great, pool is great, overall the house is good, upstairs TV didn’t work at all, downstairs are just dated but has Roku on both downstairs. Upon arrival Bathroom was not clean, front door was unlocked when we got there, all was fine but as my wife said she wouldn’t of felt comfortable going in alone, looked like it had been a few days since the pool was clean, only took about 15 mins to get debris and sand out. Again nothing big. We visit Port A 2-3 times a year and have stayed at several places, this house is Overall very good for the price point, we would probably stay again.

Absolutely Amazing!

Everything about this house was great!! It was very clean and the decor was super cute! There were so many options for hanging out that our group of 8 never felt crowded. The pool is a huge bonus and we will definitely be staying at this property again!

Nice and restfull

The house was exactly as advertised and we really enjoyed the pool and the location. We are not the party type so a quiet neighborhood that we felt safe was ideal.

Perfect for our needs

This property was the perfect fit for us this weekend. We just needed a place to retreat after our son’s pole vault competition. The pool was clean and the house was wonderful.

Great outdoor space

The pool was clean and larger than we were expecting. The screened in porch with fans is a great way to enjoy a morning cup of coffee or evening glass of wine. The bedroom setup with the crow’s nest was exactly as described in the listing (but watch your head up there). The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed for meals. Easy drive to the beach and other activities. Walkable too (but it was a little hot for that). Would stay here again.

Family Beach Week

My family had a wonderful week staying at the cottage. The pool was a great addition to entertain the kids and supplement our time at the beach. One of the best safety features this house has installed are door alarms notifying when someone opens the door to the backyard (pool) which gave my family peace of mind with the two kids who still use floaties. The house was clean and had all the kitchenware needed for our week-long stay. The screened in porch was a perfect place to unwind after a long day at the beach. Another perk the house offers- an outdoor shower that my family LOVED. We also liked the cottage’s location/neighborhood as we had great access to everything! We would absolutely stay here again, without hesitation! Deon is a fantastic host!

We have always loved the beach and in particular Port Aransas. We even spent our honeymoon in Port A, after our initial trip to Little Palm, FL was derailed by a tropical depression. It turned out to be one of the most memorable trips of our lives and made us determined to own our own piece of the island one day. In the fall of 2013 we decided to start looking for a place and spent a month looking at homes in both Rockport and Port A. However, once we stepped foot in the house on 612 Avenue A we knew we had found our special place. It has all of the unique character and nostalgia of an older home and its close proximity to everything in Port A and just blocks from the sand and sea make it the Best Escape Anyone Could Have (B.E.A.C.H.). We are 'shore' you will love it as much as we do!!
