The Gingerbread house is located just 7 minutes from the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve! and just 15 minutes from West Virginia's newest State Park (Summersville Lake State Park).Come stay with us and enjoy your home away from home with a million dollar view!!!!!!!!!

Our home can sleep up to 14. But groups of 8 or10 are our norm and seems the best fit .The Gingerbread house is located in the center of farming and basically a retirement community. We have a paved circle drive with lots of parking and lots of parking for your boat or extra vehicles. We have an over the air antenna and we have excellent cell phone coverage in our area.

We have a fire pit with lawn chairs by the pool. We supply the wood for 2 nights

We have a large inground solar heated pool and a 4 person hot tub in the pool area with a cabana with a table . chairs and a small fridge for drinks. There is also a radio.

This is our 11th year as a host with vrbo and we are geared more towards families with kids and grandkids that use our home as a central location for a family vacation. Travelling from all locations and distances you will find that our home is in the middle of many popular vacation sites and activities. last but not least. we provide pillows for the beds but our guests are to provide their own bed linens for their stay. We adopted this practice during covid and have kept it as it seems to be well accepted by our previous guests. WE HAVE REDUCED OUR PRICE BY 100 PER NIGHT SINCE WE ARE NOT SUPPLYING BED LINENS, FOR OUR WHOLE CALENDAR YEAR!!

Rafting trip

The house is very nice, but the listing was a little deceiving. We were a bit confused about the “million dollar view”, but if you like looking at a field than maybe. The hot tub is listed as an amenity, but it would’ve been nice to know that it was inflatable. So that was a let down. There’s also a toilet facing a bed on the 2nd floor, just weird! On the upside communication with the host was awesome and we even had a minor issue that was really well handled! The house lost power from a tree that fell down nearby and the host kept in constant contact with us. Not used to places that don’t have linens or soap, but we were advised well in advance that these weren’t provided and the host even went out of their way to get us blankets so we didn’t have to fly in with them. I’d definitely stay there again if I’m in the area.

Fabulous Spot

The house was clean and spacious for our clan of 7 adults and 5 children. The kids LOVED the pool and slide and the adults too! Convenient to shopping and activities-10 mins to Canyon Rim visiting center in New River Gorge National Park. Host was very quick to respond to our questions. Description of amenities accurate. Would definitely recommend!

New river ridge motorcycle trip

Pat was very hospitable and kept us with firewood and the house was clean and fit our group of 9 riders. Close to the bridge and Fayetteville and plenty to do in the area. Very great place to stay.

Smith Family WV Tour

Pat is very nice and accommodating. There are 5 bedrooms, but only 4 dinner chairs. The kitchen sink plug did not work well. It would have been nice if he would have trimmed around the fire pit.

The property owner was very nice and helpful. I appreciated their hospitality and willingness to assist in anyway possible. The house was everything that we needed and the kids really enjoyed the pool and hot tub. We plan on coming back soon to visit.

Bachelor Party close to New River Gorge

This home was absolutely perfect for what I was looking for! The house itself was so incredibly charming, with TONS of character. Lots of privacy out in the country, with a short drive to the New River Gorge for some whitewater rafting. Tons of fun to be had between the pool, basketball hoop, firepit, and the spacious house itself. Owners were very hospitable as well! 5 Stars! Hope to return in the future!

Almost heaven in the hills

Fantastic house. There is no wifi or cable, but the antenna and dvd selection worked for rainy days. Pool is immaculate, kids loved the slide. Not far from a piggly wiggly and the freefolk brewery. Beds were comfortable and nice. Great getaway for family trips. Can see summersville and neighbors firework for 4th of july. Deer ran through the yard everyday, and the kids chased lightnin bugs every evening. The Kesslers are wonderful hosts and very kind.

The Gingerbread House

Nice place to stay. The kid’s especially loved the swimming pool. The location is great for activities at the New River Gorge, Hawks Nest, and Babcock State Park.

Birthday Weekend

We had a great time! The house was great and accommodated our group of 10 perfectly! The hosts were very kind and anything we needed they were happy to provide! Even told us where the good local restaurants were and some trails. He even brought us a Cornhole set! I will be back and will be looking for this place again!!!!

Weekend getaway

Cousins got together for a weekend getaway. House worked great for our stay. Owners were quick to respond and very helpful when we had a question. Great place and conveniently located to rafting and zip lining. Would stay here again!

The perfect West Virginia getaway

We chose the gingerbread house for its proximity to New River Gorge national park and we are so glad we did! The house was spacious and easily accommodated our group of 7 adults and 4 children. It was the perfect "home base" to zipline, horseback ride, hike, and raft, and then have a cozy, quiet retreat to come back to in the afternoons. The pool is spotless and the perfect size for kids - be aware that there really isn't a "shallow area" appropriate for very small children but my older child and nephew (9 and 12) had a blast on the waterslide. There is a large yard that is perfect for sports. We used the charcoal grill and the firepit as well. Bugs weren't too bad but it helped that we brought insect repellent and citronella candles. The nighttime sky was stunning - we are city dwellers and not used to seeing the Milky Way, so that was a lovely surprise. Debbie and Pat were gracious hosts and made sure we had what we needed to be comfortable. There were plenty of towels, paper products, and pillows - just need to bring your own bed linens. Would absolutely come back here again.

Guys trip rafting

Loved the pool and hot tub and how the place is spacious. Great for a guys trip, not sure if the spouses and kids would have enjoyed as much. Specifically, not having blades on one of the bedroom ceiling fans was a unique design trend we weren’t familiar with, as were the locations of light switches (some we never found, luckily there are lots of windows) . Overall, the property was clean, easy to locate, we all enjoyed the pool and hot tub, and the hosts were very helpful with tips of places to eat including their recommendation of the gas station closest to the property we all had very good biscuits for breakfast and we’re surprised at how large the were, we had a great time.

Our New River Gorge Trip

We enjoyed our stay at the gingerbread house! The owner is very kind. The property is very clean. We stayed here for our Fourth of July weekend vacation with family. We had children ages 1-10 and 9 adults. We all slept comfortably. The pool was awesome. The kids loved the slide. They have a large yard and a basketball hoop. We played baseball, basketball and lots of swimming. It seemed to be a nice neighborhood. The home is a short drive from the new river gorge. We did a jet boat ride and drove through the mountains for a scenic tour. We had a really great time. We would stay here again! Thank you for being so nice to us!

Great family spot!

We had 4 children & 4 adults. Everyone was happy. Plenty of firewood, space, swimming and stars. Even a friendly neighborhood pup, and bird nest babies:) I do wish linens were provided. Packing linens for 6 beds was a bit of a chore. But, overall a happy 3 nights!

Debbie and I lived in the Gingerbread house for 33 years and decided to use it as a supplemental income as opposed to selling it.
