Makani Sands unit #109 is located on the 1st floor with quick access to our sandy beach. Private lanai on the ocean side has a table & chairs so you can sit with your morning coffee or watch the sunset over the ocean in the evening. There is a king bed in the bedroom and a sofa bed in the living room for an extra guest. There is a TV in the living room as well as the bedroom for your pleasure, and DVD/CD player for your enjoyment. Fully equipped kitchen with all the necessary appliances. Other amenities include a grilling station where you can barbecue your favorite meat or fresh island fish on our waterside gas grills. You are also located right next to the heated pool for an afternoon swim.
This unit includes a full sized washer and dryer for your convenience.

Awesome views, easy access,, not too busy area

Views are excellent as advertised. There is access to the water right in front of the property, but is very rocky. The unit is dated & has a few minor maintenance issues, but it was clean and well equipped- the bed was very comfortable. For us it was all about the views & location.

Family Vacation

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: the unit was clean and near the ocean which we could hear as we slept a night, what a joy. Did not have much beach area to use which was a dissapointment!

Property manager is amazing!

Views where breathtaking, the listing was accurate, quiet complex with plenty of privacy and the single most important factor was Property Managment! Tammy was absolutely amazing! So professional and friendly, down to earth and truly made the trip that much more enjoyable!!! I will definitely be coming back very soon because of her and the staff. This is the place to stay. Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Location is great. This unit needs some love and upgrades. The main curtains were terrible. The bed linen was not clean. The patio doors are really difficult to open. A fan in the bathroom. The dishwasher would come on a few times a day on its own!

Aloha Guy, Thank you for the review. The curtains have been replaced and we have an appointment with Window World to replace the sliding door. I had my appliance guy come out and look at the dishwasher and he couldn't find anything wrong. We are working to upgrade the condo. Mahalo, Tammy

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Very unhappy with the unit. The bedding was ripped. There were broken tiles in the bathroom. The stove burner didn't work. The furniture and carpet is very dirty. This unit needs to be updated if you are going to charge the same price as the other condos which are very nice. I've stayed at Makani sands several times in the past and always loved it but this particular unit is horrible.

Overall good place for the price

This had the most beautiful view and was perfect for 3 people, the beach was just steps away. The only thing that bothered us was that the drain in the shower was slow to drain, and the bathroom fan was very loud. But for the quality and price of the stay, overall it was worth it for us!

Great value

Although a bit dated the condo and property were well-maintained and the grounds were perfect. Plenty of turtles to watch from the sea wall but there is no beach and no stairs to access the water. This property is amazingly quiet and the bed was wonderful. This makes it a perfect spot for an older crowd with a little more time on their hands who are looking for relaxation.

The management is efficient in regards in contact with the guests. I would highly recommend this unit if as it’s just next to the beautiful sandy beaches of Kaanapali. Great place

Perfect ocean view/ocean front

This listing under promises/describes and over delivers comfort and ocean experience. Million dollar view. Location. Location. Westside Maui wonderful. Great bed. Every kitchen appliance and items you want from crockpot to blender for margaritas. Can sit on the ocean wall. There are steps onto the small beach. Have lunch/dinner on lanai while watching the ocean. Beautiful sunsets. When return to Maui will return here.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: What can I say. Makani Sands is always great.Not all units are the same. Unit 109 needs a lot of help. I wrote up what it needs and lacks and turned the list into the office. I will not recommend unit 109. My commitments below pertain to the overall property not unit 109. Safety issues, IE Lani carpet trip hazard. Furniture old, Surf board in closet, Bicycle in unit. Ceiling fan coming apart. The on site people did what they could to help. They are great.

Rating Details: The property manager was very unhelpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Very moldy, very very strong smell of mildew, that was giving me asthma attack problems during the whole stay. I tripped over sticking out from under the bed pieces of wood that were used to make baseboards. In some areas, the baseboard was ripped off. The place was under repair. When we were leaving I reported to the rental manager that the place is unhealthy smelly, and I had to use my inhaler and asked for a discount since we gave them a business by staying but were very upset, when manager Tammy said it is too late. The smelly unhealthy room is still there. The owner should not rent under construction condominiums, or give a discount for the inconvenience. Out of 4 questions, 3 of them are negative. I will not recommend unit 109 to anybody, and the owner should not rent a condominium when it is under construction and smells really really bad. Unit 107 where my son stayed was very nice no mildew smell, so cannot blame the climate. The couch fabric was torn pretty bad too.

Aloha Tamara, AS we discussed, I would have been happy to move you to another condo had you reported any of this to me at anytime other than check out. I spoke with your family several times during your visit and even came out to help you inside of #109 when you had a problem with the windows. At no time did you mention the" unhealthy" conditions. I cannot give a refund or discount to a guest who enjoyed the entire stay and then at check out decides they are not happy. Wishing you the best. Tammy

Such A Lovely Location

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have been to Makani Sands several times over the years and stayed in a few different units. We have stayed in this unit before and were terribly disappointed with the condition of the condo when we arrived. It simply was not clean, so we spent a few hours cleaning it ourselves upon arrival. The manager remedied this as best as possible and provided a mid stay cleaning as compensation. We were short changed on towels and bedding, and had to do laundry daily because we had to share a single wash cloth. We will still return to Makani Sands because the location and the residents are so wonderful.

Great time at the Makani Sands Maui

I stayed at the Makani Sands July 15th through the 19th. Found this jewel by the ocean through vrbo. This place has an amazing view to the ocean. The room was clean just like the pictures. The pool was well maintained. Marie was very nice and helpful. Marie has this place running like a well oiled machine. I really recommend the Makani Sands as a destination for a vacation on Maui. A week at Makani Sands

Keep the door open at night, sleep on the pull out and listen to the waves. Condo was clean; however it could use a fresh coat of paint and moulding replaced. That being said, would go back in a heartbeat.

It's all about the view!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My top priority is a direct ocean view, preferably with beach accessibility, and Makani Sands has both although there is less sand in winter than in summer. Unit 109 is a basic unit with an outdated kitchen and furnishings. The bedroom mattress was comfortable but the foldout couch mattress was thin. On arrival the bedroom television didn’t work but the manager was very responsive in fixing it. In previous years I have enjoyed the Monday “pupu” events where guests and owners share appetizers and drinks at sunset but that event didn’t happen on one of the two Mondays I was there.

Reviewer Comments: Never been touched since new which a shame !The property location is great and very well cared for.You can see the staff and grounds keeper are doing a great job and that clearly shows.From #109 we moved upstairs to # 205 and walking through the door you see the love taken in this unit.When your renting expensive properties I think it’s a shame to allow some owners to lower the bar for a property.If we had not had the luck of seeing unit 205 we would have been telling all our friends to stay away from Unit 109 !The owners of 109 should be forced to upgrade that unit as it’s not fair to the other owners .
