This oceanfront home is located in the heart of Gualala, offering guests easy access to every necessity in this small, charming town. A variety of restaurants, markets, and art galleries await less than a mile south, and Gualala Point Regional Park (which includes the Bluff Top Trail, the Salal Trail, and excellent whale watching at Gualala Point) and the Sea Ranch Golf Links are only two miles North. If you find yourself craving indoor activity, the Gualala Arts Center is only one mile away.

Driveway parking is available at the property. Detailed check-in instructions, including the door code, will be provided prior to your arrival.



The Neighborhood:

Your Gualala home base puts you steps from local restaurants, the Gualala Arts Center, and grocery shopping. Explore stunning beaches at Gualala Point Regional Park Gualala Point Regional Park is a short drive south. Cooks Beach and Anchor Bay Beach are a short drive north.



Getting Around:

From San Francisco, the drive is about 2.5 hours via Highway 101 to Highway 1. Fly into Santa Rosa's Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport (STS), about 90 minutes east, and drive the coast from there. Having a car opens up the entire Mendonoma Coast.



Other Things to Note:

Cell and WiFi services are very inconsistent in this area.

This home is right on an ocean bluff; please always supervise your children and your dog.

Best for guests aged 18 and up due to the proximity of the bluffs.

Good to know: this home is in a neighborhood that is prone to seasonal visits from ants. We always try to be as proactive as possible when dealing with this issue.



December through April is whale season. You may spot gray whales breaching right from the bluff trail nearby. April through June brings stunning wildflower displays along the bluffs and throughout Gualala Point Regional Park. The warmest months run June to September. Coastal fog is common early in the day but gives way to sunshine by afternoon.

The views of the ocean are stunning. The house was spotless. This town is a real gem. Small enough to feel reclusive, but big enough to have groceries and restaurants close. Bed was really comfy. We really enjoyed our stay.

Excellent rest!

Spent a few days relaxing and enjoying the beautiful Mendocino coastline at Otterā€™s Rest. This was the ideal place for us to stay and enjoy the amazing views. It was easily walkable to town where everyone was so nice and welcoming. Would absolutely stay here again!

Loved everything about our stay. The house is well laid out, very clean, very comfortable, all the necessary amenities and equipment, conveniently located on the edge of town, spectacular ocean views. Loved being able to find a nice place that also welcomes a dog. Was also pleased by how easy it was to communicate with Vacasa and appreciated their responsiveness.

Hard to Leave!

Perfect location on a quiet court with endless views. The home is extremely clean considering itā€™s a vacation rental. Even the couch and chairs were freshly vacuumed. I have stayed at several places on the coast and this one so far is the best!

Great place to relax with the parents

We wanted to treat my wife's parents to a relaxing view for Mothers Day. Great place and setup for an elderly couple to relax and stare at the ocean for a couple of days. Kitchen was well appointed for us to cook/prep meals for them during our stay. Beds were quite comfortable too (we prefer softer mattresses in general, which the upstairs was).

This property is just as advertised. Expect to see amazing views and delightful wildlife. Very comfortable accommodations from beds to easy chairs and neat and clean from top to bottom. We loved the kitchen! We will dream about this vacation and hope to visit again.

Enjoyable five days at Otterā€™s Rest with fabulous weather. Very comfortable & enjoyable house. Good location with spectacular close ocean views of rocky coast from deck & windows. Comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen & baths. One negative is no pretty sunsets as blocked by hill & house.

Dramatic Views and Relaxation

The Otter's Rest is a perfect spot to decompress from work life! The views from the home and porch are incredible. The home has many amenities for fun, such as books, puzzles and games. The kitchen is stocked to cook delicious meals. Otter's Rest gave our family a true rest!

The VIEW ! Amazing and never gets old. The wild life is everywhere. Weā€™ve seen seals, a Bald Eagle , Otters, Pelicans , deer and more. So peaceful and close to town.
