Summary:
An all-wood Sea Ranch studio for two with ocean views from the meadow's edge. Walk the half mile down to Shell Beach for tidepools and seals, watch deer and fox work the meadow, and end the day stargazing while the surf rolls in below. Your recreation pass unlocks the heated community pools, saunas, and 50 miles of trails.
The Space:
This all-wood Sea Ranch studio sits at the meadow's edge with ocean views through its windows — a simple, light-filled retreat scaled perfectly for two. Cascades of natural light bring out every grain of the wood interior, while antique cabinets, a vaulted ceiling, and thoughtful decor keep the single room feeling warm rather than spare. Deer, fox, and rabbits work the meadow outside; the surf rolls steadily below.
Mornings start with fresh coffee and ocean light. Days go to the coast: walk the half mile down the Shell Beach access trail to tidepools, seals, and driftwood, or wander the redwood and coastal-foliage paths along the ridge. Evenings, spread a blanket outside for some of the best stargazing on the California coast, or stream a movie on your laptop over the WiFi.
After a brisk beach walk, warm up in the community sauna, or challenge a friend to a few games on the shared basketball and tennis courts at the rec centers. From December through April, gray whales migrate just offshore — bring binoculars.
The Ranch Cafe is three and a half miles south, with more dining just north in Gualala — Bakery Pizza Mexican Food, Cove Azul Bar & Grill, and Taqueria Del Sol among the local favorites.

* Good to know: the owner lives in main house. Please do not disturb.
Sea Ranch has three recreation centers with heated pools, saunas, and tennis courts. Access passes are provided with your stay -- check availability upon arrival as these shared amenities can be popular during peak times.
Exterior lighting is minimal by design to preserve the stunning dark sky -- bring a flashlight for evening walks and enjoy some of the best stargazing on the California coast.
Whale watching season runs from December through April -- grab the binoculars and watch for gray whale spouts from your window. Spring (April-June) brings a wildflower show across the coastal meadows -- lupine, poppies, and iris paint the landscape. Summer (June-September) brings the warmest days and longest light. Morning fog is common along the coast -- it usually burns off by midday.
Cell service can be spotty along the coast. The home has WiFi for staying connected.
