Summary:
Perched between Shell Beach and Stengel Beach, this Sea Ranch retreat pairs a rare, sweeping ocean view with the architecture the community is famous for: cedar walls, soaring ceilings, and a fireplace built for long, easy evenings. With two private bedroom suites and a loft designed for up to four guests, you have room to spread out with someone you love or share the week with another couple, and still come back together as the day winds down.
The Space:
The moment you step inside, you'll feel how close the Pacific really is. Set on the ocean side of Highway 1 between Shell Beach and Stengel Beach, this Sea Ranch retreat opens onto meadow and whitewater views that will stop you mid-sentence, the kind of view you'll find yourself coming back to the window for, again and again.
You'll walk into a light-filled, two-story living room where cedar walls and floor-to-ceiling windows blur the line between indoors and out. Curl up in the sunken inglenook next to the stone fireplace with a book or a glass of wine while you watch the light shift over the water. Original nature photography, captured right here on the Sea Ranch, surrounds you, always a reminder of the landscape just beyond the glass.
Step out onto the sheltered deck, and you'll discover one of the home's best-kept secrets (and guest-favorites!). Tucked into its own microclimate, it stays calm and inviting even when the coast is putting on a show, so you can enjoy your morning coffee, an alfresco dinner, or a slow evening under the umbrella.
The home comfortably fits four across two full suites, each with its own level and private bath. On the main floor, you can open the door straight onto the deck from a bedroom with ocean and meadow views. Head upstairs and you'll find a second suite with cathedral cedar ceilings, a dedicated desk, and some of the most dramatic whitewater views on this stretch of coast. Need a third space? The loft's queen platform bed is ready for reading, working, or an extra night's sleep, all under premium down bedding so you always rest easy.
You'll have everything you need to cook at home. The kitchen comes fully equipped with Cuisinart cookware, an espresso machine, blender, toaster, and more. Pick up fresh ingredients minutes away at Surf Market in Gualala, or plan your trip around the Gualala Farmers Market on a summer Saturday. High-speed 1 Gbps fiber, a Sonos sound system, Apple TVs, and EV charging in the attached garage, complete with its own workbench and industrial lighting, let you stay connected or unplug completely, whichever you prefer.
As the sun sets, you'll discover Sea Ranch's most magical trait: true darkness. With no exterior lighting permitted across the community, you can look up on a clear night and see some of the best stargazing and Milky Way views on the entire California coast. Nights like this are why guests return to our coastal sanctuary year after year.
The Neighborhood:
You're staying in the heart of The Sea Ranch, a coastal community built around one idea: let the land lead. Step outside and you're just steps or a short walk from miles of bluff and forest trails connecting the beaches, the golf course, and the recreation center. Wander down to Shell Beach's tide pools, take in sweeping ocean vistas, or walk the cypress-lined meadow trails whenever you're ready, with the Sea Ranch Lodge and the town of Gualala close by if you want a change of scenery.
Getting Around:
As our guest, you'll have exclusive access to Sea Ranch's private recreation amenities, including three heated pools, saunas, tennis courts, and the community golf course, all included with your stay.
Beaches & Bluff Trails: You'll have immediate Bluff Trail access, plus Shell Beach, Stengel Beach, Walk On Beach, Black Point Beach, and Pebble Beach, all within a few miles.
Sea Ranch Amenities: Use your recreation pass at three centers with heated pools, saunas, and tennis, or spend an afternoon on the Robert Muir Graves’ nationally-recognized scenic 18-hole Scottish links golf course. The Sea Ranch Chapel is worth the short drive, too.
Local Flavor: Head into downtown Gualala for shops, the Farmers Market, and Surf Market, or continue on to Anchor Bay and the Point Arena Lighthouse for an afternoon adventure.
Trails & Nature: Lace up for the Monarch Glen Interpretive Trail, Hedgerow Trail, Forest to Sea Trail, or catch the rhododendron blooms at Kruse Reserve.
Wine Country Detours: Annapolis Winery is just up the road, and Fort Ross Vineyard and the Anderson Valley make for a scenic day trip if you want to venture further.
Other Things to Note:
You'll find Highway 1 and Sea Ranch's private roads easy to navigate, and with over 50 miles of trails, you can leave the car behind entirely for most of your stay. EV chargers are available throughout the community if you're traveling electric.
Please note: this home is best suited to guests 12 and older.
