So good we had to go again!
We first stayed at Villa Joanna 4 years ago. It ticked all of our boxes for a perfect holiday and we have struggled to find anywhere else comparable, which is why we decided to visit again this year.
The Villa is clean and well maintained by Doug and Sue who live nearby. They are a lovely Couple who are always on hand to answer questions and provide support if needed.
Villa Joanna has stunning views and is situated in a very peaceful setting. We particularly enjoyed having breakfast on the balcony, soaking in the natural beauty of the surroundings. The efficient air-conditioning and well maintained swimming pool were also much appreciated whenever we needed to cool down in the heat of the day.
Avithos beach is just 5 minutes drive away, it is ideal for families and doesn't get too crowded. The beach is sandy and has the usual lounger/umbrellas for hire. There is a beach bar and The Preview restaurant.
Our favourite place to visit was The Castle Cafe at St George's Castle. The food here is all homemade and simply delicious with the best desserts we have found on the island. Again, the views from the castle are breath taking.
The Acropolis restaurant is 5 minutes away from Villa Joanna, it has a good menu and friendly atmosphere.
Our favourite excursions on Kefalonia included Melissani Lake and Drogarati Cave. An additional highlight this year was the opportunity to see loggerhead Turtles close at hand in Argostoli harbour.
We would highly recommend Villa Joanna and would love to come back again in the future.
