Things to Do on Your Vacation
A vacation in the Wendland-Elbe region means slowing down, impressive protected nature, and unique architectural heritage. Discover the Elbhöhen-Wendland Nature Park or the Lower Saxony Elbe Valley Biosphere Reserve. Get up close and personal with storks, white-tailed eagles, cranes, beavers, and Heidschnucken sheep. And in towns like Lüchow, Dannenberg, and Hitzacker, the centuries-old, picturesque half-timbered buildings are a delight. The region is also fascinating for history buffs: The Wendland was a former border region during the division of Germany, bordered by Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Brandenburg, and Saxony-Anhalt.
