Great Black Butte Home

We loved the house. A great view, very comfortable furnishings, a well equipped kitchen, and the decor was perfect for the Black Butte setting. Will definitely seek out this house for future stays.

What we wanted.

We were concerned upon arrival to find the water to the house had been shut off. A call to the office resolved the problem quickly.

Wedding

We really enjoyed the fireplace and the views of the mountains. We did have some smoke from the fires near South Sister but still good views most of the time. The golfers were fun to watch and they almost all took selfies from the tee of the view we had.

Great View and Location

We rented this house 30+ years ago for our family. Last week we rented it again and brought our grandchildren. The creek, Paulina pool and the bike paths are easy to reach by walking or bicycles. Enjoyed watching golfers tee-off. The highlight of this home is the view down the fairway and 3-Fingered Jack!! The furniture is very dated.

Another Great Stay

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: For 2 years in a row, we have stayed a week at this home. Last year other family stayed in the home, but I got to visit. We all loved it. This year I got to stay there, and it was fabulous. Let me start by saying how helpful the management company was. They reminded me of options that saved some money as the process evolved. But 4 days before the rental began, a nearby fire became the country's highest priority, leading to evacuations of part of Sisters and warnings that included land right up to Black Butte's boundary. Management staff (Thank you Kendra) were incredibly helpful explaining what was going on from on the ground there. We discussed a variety of options depending on how the fire responded. It made me comfortable "hanging in there." Fortunately, the weather and 1100 firefighters turned things around. We had a great week with just one day of significant smoke. Sisters was open for business and fun.That enabled us to enjoy a week of the best view in Black Butte, a fabulous kitchen with everything you need and new appliances, air conditioning, comfortable sleeping for 4 adults and 4 children, easy access to our favorite spot in Black Butte---Paulina Pool. We were able to include our dog too. It is a great vacation house. I hope we spend another week there next year.

Not Exactly as Advertised

Old home with 3 legit bedrooms. Additional fold out sleeping options are not adequate. No handsoap or tissues through out house. Lots of steep steps. No garage. WiFi worked well. Great fairway and mountain views when not smokey.

On our website and VRBO the home is advertised as a 3 bed/ 3 BA, sleeps 10. With the queen, king and 4 twins, those sleeping additional sleeping options shouldn't be used if all the other beds are used since that would exceed the home sleeping 10. I am unsure why there would be no hand soap or tissues in the home, but please next time ask and we can bring some out. Perhaps this home wasn't the best fit for you, but maybe next time we can find you a better option! Thanks, Management

Magnificent Views, easy access to Paulina Spring and Pool

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Two families stayed for almost a week as part of a multifamily reunion. It was perfect. Starts with the best Black Butte view ever, especially at sunset. An incredible deck makes staying outside the thing to do. The house is located within easy walking distance of Paulina Springs and Pool which can only be accessed by walking. So, if you need a quiet, less crowded, beautiful spot, this is it. The house has a kitchen area that could handle two families. It is airconditioned so a good spot when its hot....and a couple of days were hot for us. Easy access to multiple walking and biking trail, especially the nature trail at Paulina which has become our favorite. And the Big Meadow is not far. We felt very lucky our dates were available. We have been coming to Black Butte for 40 years and this is the most beautiful spot we have stayed at.

kept 1/3 of the security deposit for laundry

Reviewer Comments: I was very happy with my experience until I got charged $100.00 for additional laundry. We didn't even use all the towels in the house. Apparently when they say linens and towels included....that doesn't mean blankets?? I was charged 100.00 because a blanket was in the laundry? You don't wash any blankets between guests?....I hope that is not the case! When you use a fold out bed...and that is required here when you have 9 guests in this house, all the bedding was removed and put on washer before the bed was folded back up. It was not documented anywhere in the house handbook, but that is excessive cleaning. At the hundreds of hotels I have stayed at, I have never been charged for laundry. I think that is the point of being on laundry to do. As we were leaving, we even commented to each other that the house cleaners wouldn't have much to do because we left the place so clean.

Thank you for your response, Juliet. The charge was levied because all the extra sheets and blankets in the house were used and left in a pile. The beds were changed by the guests and housekeeping had to be in the house for several extra hours laundering the extra sheets and several blankets that were thrown in the laundry pile. The house was left relatively clean, as most houses are, but the housekeeper reported a mountain of laundry. Our housekeepers' time is very valuable and they deserve to be paid for extra hours spent due to guests' actions. BBRG mgt.

Also enjoyed proximity to Palina pool and creek and the boardwalk.We had resident bats during our stay making sleep a problem in the one bedroom adjacent to bat home. There were also cobwebs in areas. Other than that, it wAs enjoyable.

I am 6 feet tall and banged my head on the kitchen hood twice. Looks like someone put some rubber bumpers up once, but they have mostly fallen off. You need to fix before someone hurts themselves seriously. Also refrigerator freezes food even when turned all the way down.

On Going Construction Next Door, Beware

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have stayed here before and did again for basic reasons. It is close to the Paulina pool (walking distance) and the view of the course and mountains.IMPORTANT/BEWAREPlease be aware that there is an ongoing construction site adjacent to the home. Some days they start before 8 am. If you plan to sit outside for breakfast, lunch or just to read this will be ruined most days. The home is priced to reflect what it should offer, but is not worth the price with what is taken away. This isn't disclosed before booking and the management company has no control when the disruptions happen. If you already have booked this home you should discuss with them before arriving or see if you can cancel.

Perfect Winter Location & Great Property Manager

This location was absolutely perfect, as it was situated at the top of a small sledding hill. Our small kids had a blast sledding and the adults enjoyed warming up in the sauna after the snow filled days. There was a small hiccup with one of the key appliances. The property management company was incredibly responsive and did everything they could to make it right during our stay. They even stopped by daily (including Christmas Day) to blow the snow off the deck and walkways. I can not say enough great things about Black Butte Realty Group. We have stayed at many homes in Black Butte and this experience was by far one of the best! We will definitely be back!

Golf Home 253

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is the second time we have stayed at GH 253. The first time was 4 years ago and it doesn't appear any updates have been made since then. On the plus side, this home has a wonderful location and fabulous view. On the negative side the bedding and mattresses are awful and definitely affected the week. The hand held shower head in the master bath is unacceptable, dangerous and results in a wet mess. We took turns using the other showers. As noted in another review, the home is overall poorly lit. The television is small and does not enable streaming. We don't visit BBR to watch TV, but for the occasional family gathering for a football game or movie, a modern and larger TV would be nice. Have been visiting Black Butte Ranch for 24 years and must say that this home is in need of some TLC.
