Stunning large stone cottage on the Wild Atlantic Way with sea views and WI-FI

This is a simply stunning stone Cottage located right on the Wild Atlantic Way with it's own WI-FI. It is beautiful both inside and out. The interior retains 'a country atmosphere' as it consists of white washed walls and extensive use of wood. The Cottage sleeps up to 10 and is ideal for two families. Two of the bedrooms are en suite and there are three bathrooms in total. The kitchen is very large and is fully equipped with all conveniences. Our location is fabulous with total privacy on our 1 Hectare site plus you have access within 300m to the sea for fishing and 300m to a local beach with lots of shellfish. The views are wonderful to the Fastnet Lighthouse and of Toormore Bay from the house. Schull is only 8 km and Goleen is only 6 kms away. The house is fantastic for children with so much land, wildlife plus we now have a fantastic Swing, Slide and See Saw for the kids. Beautiful safe Ballyrisode beach is only 2 km away, with its abundant supply of Rock pools for children to explore. A simply wonderful holiday is assured!


We have recently made some great changes to Reen Cottage. We have utilised the kitchen area better by adding a two seater couch and a single seater armchair to make the area so much more comfortable. This will be a very popular area at all times of the day as the seats are right beside the double patio doors which open on to the patio and have great views. Wea have also added Fuschia headging and created a garden area whilst adding swings and a slide for kids.

Our hallway downstairs has been revamped with tasteful mirrors, a beautiful wooden bench and rugs and lighting whilst the sitting room which is located upstairs for the views has been hugely upgraded with a flat screen TV, new rugs, lighting, new seats and a fantastic wicker lounger to relax in and enjoy the views of the Atlantic ocean.

Quite simply this is one of the best houses in the West Cork area.

Our visit to Reen Cottage

What can I say other than this is the perfect place to stay. A wonderful lay out with amazing outdoor spaces. The cottage is in terrific shape with all the room you'll need and in the ideal location. 10 minutes from everything you'll need. If I could give it 6 stars I would. Thank you to the owners for having us stay. We'll for sure be back!

Misleading photographs & tired home

Very run down family holiday home. Poorly prepared before our arrival. Misleading photos and description which failed to mention house being built next door( see photograph).
House to left still being built with 3 evenings power tools being used.

When the first email came in from the guests stating that "we (the guests) are not serial complainers" I knew instinctively the type of guest I was dealing with. They initially did have a plumbing issue which was sorted and as a gesture we refunded the Towel Rental in addition to not charging a Pet Fee That was despite the fact that they accused us of hiding the Towel Rental Charge which they subsequently reversed, without apology, when I showed them they were mistaken. This is in addition to having more beds made up at the last moment, resending papers out that they said I hadn't sent, which I had etc. So it was very clear how this was going to end. They even accused me of "Have you fallen out of love with the house?" because we had a For Sale sign up. That comment was quite offensive but I remained courteous. The final nonsense is the fact that a house was built in the field next us in 2024. This house is 25 metres away at its closest point and largely obscured by a mound yet they seemed to have a problem with this. Interestingly, we have two families coming back this year from the UK both of whom stayed in Reen Cottage in 2024 whilst the house next door was being constructed! Bearing in mind all outside construction is finished this proves that any reference by the recent guests to misleading information is in itself grossly misleading and grossly unfair.

Great stay in Toormore

We had a great stay. It’s an excellent house for friends and family, spacious and comfortable in a brilliant location with fantastic views. Very good facilities inside and out and the house works really well for all weather eventualities . We had an unexpected and glorious hot blast of late summer and the house was a lovely place to be - the outside eating area and bbq really came into their own. All communications with Ross were easy - the whole thing was stress free and excellent from start to finish. Thank you - I would definitely book this house again for next year if it wasn’t already booked up!

Lovely house, lots of space, great sea view from upstairs. Great local walks & boat trips available

Great house but needs a little TLC here and there. Great location, in the centre of lots of places. Busy enough road but very quiet at night. Friendly neighbours and property manager lives close by in case of any issues. Schull is 10 mins drive. Mizen head, Skibbereen, Bantry etc 15/20 mins. Lovely local walks and boat trips from Schull. Only negatives were some information in the house instruction book needs updating re heating and immersion tv guide, also the kids games need to be replaced as they are damaged and are missing parts. Overall great place to stay. Would definitely recommend. need to be replaced due to lots of missing parts.

West Cork Week

House was perfect for our two small families combined (7 of us in total). One family in upstairs bedrooms and one in downstairs two. Wonderful views and great to have two separate living areas so we never felt we were on top of one another. Kitchen very well equipped (with everything we needed apart from a grater). Trips included Schull market on Sunday and Bantry market on Friday. Barleycove beach, Crookhaven, Ballydehob and Three Castle Head. The weather seemed to cooperate with our plans, which included fishing in Schull and Goleen. The Wild West pub in Goleen was great for watching Ire v Canada while lunching. All in all a great week was had by all.

Very nice house, we recommend it!

We are a family of six adults and one dog - we rented Reen Cottage for one week in April 2014 which is "off season". We found plenty to keep us occupied in the West Cork area enjoying relaxing in Baltimore, mountain drives of the Healy Pass and Caha Pass (narrow roads) and the lovely village of Glengarriff. Three of our party went whale watching - all this was easily accessible by car. The house itself is worth experiencing with the downstairs located in part upstairs to facilitate the views across the water. The house is equipped with all mod cons including dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer and sky TV. We didn't cook in the cottage but enjoyed the restaurants in Schull instead. Schull is a welcoming village with some beautiful walks and boasts an outdoors adult gym. The cottage itself is set back from the road which meant our little dog was away from traffic but the neighbouring cattle had a few conversations with him. We loved our stay and would recommend it to anyone visiting West Cork.

Das Haus hält die Versprechungen des Inserates. Alle Geräte sind in relativ neuwertigem Zustand in der Basisversion vorhanden. Kleingeräte wie Kaffeemaschine, Grill und Wasserkocher könnten gelegentlich ersetzt werden.

The property is in a beautiful location and very private..The house itself wasnt clean.

Showers were very hard to turn on and off.No bathroom mats.Had to use our towels in case our elderly mother fell.Missing kitchen utensils.Garlic crusher ect.Had to get rid of our own rubbish which was approx 15km which cost €20.Had to do it the day we left because of opening hours.In view of cost of rental it should have been included in cost.Overall disappointing experience.

Two stars is a major overreaction to a couple of minor issues which she chose not to to contact the manager about. If she had done so, which most guests do if anything arises, they would have been dealt with instantly and no doubt she wouldn't have left quite such a scathing review. As to the rubbish complaint, that's just plain daft as there's no collection locally and the dump is on the way back to Cork/Dublin and doesn't seem to upset any of the other hundreds of guests we've had over 25 years.

Lovely property in a beautiful quiet part of west Cork

Lovely property, lovely location however the property was dirty, floors were very dirty, lots of cobwebs in the kitchen and upstairs living room. Beds we're not made up when we arrived but this was sorted very quickly.

Reen House is situated in a picture perfect setting . It is situated very close to Schull and Goleen villages and beside gorgeous beaches . There are fantastic views from the house , a great bbq area and the area is peaceful and unspoiled . The house should be thoroughly cleaned and a little more communication from the property manager would be very helpful . Overall we had a wonderful holiday and would love to return to the area.

Ons verblijf om en nabij oud en nieuw 2018/2019 in Reen cottage

De woning was op zich prima: genoeg ruimte, open haardje, droger, wasmachine, vaatwasser, twee koelkasten enz. Ook de stoelen waren prima om op te zitten en bestek, borden enz. voldoende. De bedden sliepen goed. De locatie was prima. Wij hebben enorm genoten van de schiereilanden en de oceaan die daar tegenaan beukt. Veel gewandeld met name de wandeling rond de vuurtoren van Sheephead was fantastisch.Ook een bezoekje aan Crookshaven met zijn pub en Baltimore met zijn prachtige vuurtoren zijn aanbevelingswaardig. De ring of Beara is fantastisch. Wij hebben een deel gereden richting steenkring van Uragh, waardoor wij twee passen door de bergen namen, wat een geweldig uitzicht opleverde. Wat wij de eigenaar en/of caretaker - Kathleen heb ik trouwens gesproken in de supermarkt van Schull - willen meegeven is een opmerking over de schoonmaak, voorafgaand aan ons verblijf in Reen cottage. De stofzuiger zat vol en als wij het huisje wilden stofzuigen kon daar echt niets bij. Er was geen bezem om binnen aan te vegen en schoonmaakspullen lagen her en der slordig in de kasten. Verder was te merken dat de laatste bewoners in september gebruik hadden gemaakt van de cottage. Er waren spinnenwebben tegen het plafond en onder de bedden lag stof. De slaapkamer middenboven had een kapotte verwarming en het raam kierde, waardoor het er koud was. In deze kamer zaten koninginnewespen, die door onze aanwezigheid tot leven kwamen (doodeng). Wij dachten dat de cottage aan de oceaan stond - zo leek het in de omschrijving - maar de oceaan is toch een eindje weg. Omdat het weer voor Ierse begrippen helemaal goed was hebben wij ook daar enorm van genoten..... Al met al een paar kanttekeningen rond de schoonmaak van Reen cottage voorafgaand aan de nieuwe bewoners....verder hebben wij het heel goed gehad. Groet Antonet

Thanks for your largely positive review of Reen Cottage and I am delighted that you enjoyed the visit and the area. I would just like to address the few minor points that you made. The guest is correct in that the house was previously occupied last September however the implication is that the house had not been cleaned since then and that is not fair, as it was fully cleaned the weekend before they arrived. Part and parcel of West Cork and it's rural nature is that it is the "Spider Capital of Ireland" so literally if you clear webs 24 hrs before an arrival, the Spiders rebuild them within 24 hrs! They are also building them when the guests are there. You also mention finding some Queen Wasps which again is part of rural life In Ireland. They hibernate over the winter in houses and leave (or are killed!) in the Spring. However when the heating is switched on mid Winter, they think Spring has arrived and they make a slow and ponderous appearance normally to get smashed with a Newspaper! I honestly think it was hardly worth mentioning in a review. The Vacuum Cleaner. Yes it was obviously full, but could the guest not have just emptied it in to the Bin that is provided?!! .......and there is a Brush, either in the Kitchen closet, under the Stairs or in the Garage so that statement is not correct. Finally the proximity to the Ocean......I think if the Guests had looked the pictures on the Advert it is abundantly clear that the Ocean isn't outside the back door. The Ocean is at the end of our property approximately 300 mtrs away, the photos show that clearly. I do appreciate the Guest gave the house 4/5 stars and I should be delighted with that assessment but I just feel some of the comments that she made made are a bit over the top.

This land belonged to my parents since 1961 and they owned a separate property closeby. Following my Father's death in 1994 I purchased the land from my Mum and we built our dream West Cork home on the site which we have enjoyed for so many years now. We even added a boat two years ago to get the maximum fishing and touring and installed our own mooring closeby which can be used by guests. We even catch our own Lobsters and Shrimp!

When you see the views from the rear of the cottage and experience the sheer peace and quiet you will understand why we chose here. Add to the fact that you can stroll out of the cottage down to the beach only 300 metres away and collect your dinner when the tide is out! Clams, Cockles, Razor Fish and we have even found Oysters! I have spent nearly 50 years holidaying in this exact area and love it as much now as I did when I was a kid. We even have WI-FI
