Beautiful and unique

This was a very unique place to stay - the location is in a stunning wooded area next to the quaint town of Fivizzano. It was amazing how they built the home over an ancient olive oil mill too. The pool was so well maintained and a highlight for everyone. The owner and her manager, Karsten, were very responsive as well. We would recommend this amazing place to everyone.

Great large rustic villa

Very spacious - so many rooms and areas to relax in both inside and out (the photos don't do it justice) Very good communication with owner and caretaker of the property Nice big swimming pool with towels provided Wi-fi can be temperamental so don't rely on it for anything important or substantive If coming from UK note you will need to leave 500 Euro CASH deposit (returned at the end) Would definitely come back

This was a wonderful vacation in a beautiful accommodation. The river that flows around the house gives you a good feeling every day. The welcome by Karsten ensures that you feel at ease right away. A great guy who makes sure everything is in order. A phone call, and he comes right away. Everything is there to enjoy. Plenty of space, very much space. A spacious kitchen, good bedrooms and bathrooms, beautiful pool,... Fivizzano itself is calm and the atmosphere is great. To sum it up... enjoyed!!!

Great stay in this beautiful villa

Our family of nine spent a week here and everyone was enchanted by the gorgeous setting and unusual home. The grounds were breathtaking with the river running behind the house and lots of places to enjoy the outdoors. We saw a family of foxes one night and we enjoyed the fireflies in the evenings. We slept with the windows open and the sound of the river running was beautiful. The house itself was unusual with the features of the ancient mill built into the home. The 5 bedrooms, each with a private bath were perfect for a large family. It was very clean and updated and the bedrooms were comfortable. Our hosts and the property manager were so helpful and they even left us a huge basket of fresh fruit. Our only challenges were the spotty WiFi (likely due to the location and the 9 people trying to use it), and the very American desire for a clothes dryer. We found the kitchen, while nicely equipped, a little difficult to use to prepare large meals, but we made it work. Overall, the home is like no place we have been before and it made our trip unforgettable!

Your description of the house, the river, and the peaceful setting really captures what makes this place special, and reading “like no place we have been before” honestly feels like one of the greatest compliments we could receive. Knowing the villa helped make your trip unforgettable means a lot to us. We understand that the WiFi may not always be perfectly stable, especially given the rural location and when used by many people at once, it’s something we continue to work on. As for the clothes dryer, it's not usually expected during summer stays, as most guests enjoy using the outdoor space for drying..very italian feature! :) but we'll certainly consider buying one. Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience: it helps us grow and hopefully offer future guests an equally memorable stay. Enrica

A little piece of paradise

The ancient rustic charm of this old mill is beyond words or even pictures. Every day we stayed there we came to appreciate more and more deeply the beauty of this property and the incredible skill and creativity that went into its restoration. It is an old stone masterpiece. By the time we left we were looking at our calendars to imagine when we could come again. Big and spacious, there is room for everyone to find their own individual favorite spot and enjoy it all to themselves or with whomever they choose. I would stay here again just for the kitchen. It is amazing! But truth be told, we would stay here for a hundred other reasons as well. Number one would be the kitchen. Number two would be getting to sleep every night with the wonderful sounds of the stream just outside the window. Number three would be the church bells just across the stream in Posara. And then there's Enrica, the owner, who made it her personal business the make sure that we had everything we needed. She is a gem of a person. The swimming pool is perfection. The picnic tables, fire pits, the old stone bridge into town, everything is hundreds of years old and gorgeous! Best of all, this is outside of the range of most tourism and thus we get the real experience of living in Italy. We all LOVED it and recommend it wholeheartedly!

Wir waren zu zehnt für eine Woche in “Ai Torchi Vecchi” und es war ein super Aufenthalt, mit allem was wir im Urlaub schätzen. Jedes Zimmer hatte ein Bad, viele Plätzchen, um sich zurückzuziehen, einen schönen Pool mit viel Spielfläche rundherum. Kurzum, die Unterkunft war absolut perfekt für uns.Herzlichen Dank noch an Karsten, der sehr hilfsbereit und unkompliziert war.

Ein wirklich außergewöhnliches Objekt mit viel Platz, sowohl drinnen als auch draußen. Tolles Konzept mit Liebe zum Detail und ganz viel Wohlfühlfaktor.Die eine oder andere Ecke hätte etwas sauberer sein können, auch wenn uns klar ist, dass das bei der Objektgröße und der Anzahl an Geschirr schwierig ist. Das hat für uns den tollen Gesamteindruck auch nicht geschmälert. Zumal die Übergabe am Ende sehr unkompliziert und kulant war.Wir würden sofort wieder hinreisen!

Das Haus ist etwas ganz besonderes und hat meiner Familie gut gefallen! Die Kommunikation lief einwandfrei. Das Grundstück bietet viel natürlichen Schatten und trotzdem viel Sonne am Pool :) Die Ausstattung des Hauses und der Küche waren super. Im Angebot steht eine Lademöglichkrit für E-Autos, jedoch gab es am Parkplatz nur eine Steckdose und keine Wallbox; daher konnten wir nicht laden. Die Klimaanlagen sind im Flur der Wohntrakts, nicht in den jeweiligen Zimmer. Das sollte erwähnt sein um Missverständnisse zu vermeiden. Der Großteil des Hauses bleibt aber dank der Steinmauern angenehm.

Nous avons passé une semaine dans ce splendide moulin tout confort avec nos grands enfants, arrivée parfaite grâce aux détails fournis par Karsten, magnifique panier de bienvenue et une multitude de brochures pour nous aider à choisir parmi les nombreuses activités et excursions de la région. Chacun sa chambre et sa salle de bains, une grande conviviale cuisine très bien équipée où nous avons préparé tous ensemble les repas. L’extérieur est très bien entretenu et la piscine est très grande et permet de belles parties de volleyball. Un fitness sur-équipé parfait pour compenser les repas pris dans les bons restaurants conseillés. Nous avons apprécié la fraîcheur du moulin et de la rivière durant cette canicule. Nous ne pouvons que conseiller ce splendide moulin et l’extrême gentillesse et disponibilité des propriétaires et de Karsten.

Etwas ganz Besonderes für Erholungsuchende

Das Haus - eine wunderschön restaurierte und auf den aktuellen Stand der Technik entwickelte historische Mühle - ist perfekt für größere Familien oder Freundesgruppen. Das historische Gebäudeensemble befindet sich unmittelbar an einem rauschenden Bach, der klingt wie ein reißender Fluss, aber kaum tiefer als 30cm ist. Das Anwesen besitzt diverse Wiesen, kleine Lichtungen und Wasserzugänge, so dass selbst größere Gruppen hier unterschiedlichen Interessen nachgehen können ohne einander zu stören. Unabhängig von einem gut ausgestatteten Fitnessraum, einer Tischtennisplatte und dem überdurchschnittlich großen Pool, bietet das riesige - komplett eingezäunte - Grundstück unzählige Möglichkeiten sich in der Natur zu beschäftigen. Jeder Großstädter wird sich wie in einem Zauberwald fühlen. Wer hier einmal am späten Abend das Lichtermeer der umherschwirrenden Glühwürmchen beobachten durfte, findet nur schwer in die Realität des Alltags zurück. Die Eigentümer haben in besonderer Weise den Spagat hinbekommen zwischen dem Erhalt des historischen Bauwerks und dem Einsatz modernster Ausstattungsdetails (neue Bäder mit Rainshower Duschen, hochwertige Betten, moderne Küchenausstattung, in der nichts fehlt und ein heutzutage unverzichtbares stabiles Internet).Abschließend: Bisher haben wir ganz bewusst jedes Jahr ein anderes Haus in der Toskana angemietet. Hier kann ich mit Sicherheit sagen, wir kommen wieder! Danke für dieses Fleckchen Erde!

Einmaliges Anwesen

Schönes großes, sehr geschmackvoll renoviertes Haus. Wir, zusammen acht Personen dabei drei Kinder, haben eine ruhige Woche fast nur ganze Zeit auf dem Anwesen verbracht. Die Kinder waren gut beschäftigt wenn nicht im Swimmingpool dann bei Feuerstellen oder Tischtennis. Vielen Dank an Karsten, die Kommunikation auf deutsch war perfekt. Es war ein schöner Urlaub.

Très belle maison...mais dangereuse!

La propriété est extrêmement grande, rustique. Il y a 2 problèmes: Il n'y a pas de climatisation, la maison est dangereuse...il y a partout des escaliers a claire voie, des pièces en contrebas, avec des rampes très ouvertes...des grands espaces en sous sol avec accès difficile.! Nous avons quitté après un jour, car notre chien âgé, qui a des problèmes de vue, n'arrivait pas a prendre les escaliers, est tombé dans le trou au fond de la cuisine, et n'a pas pu dormir, car il faisait trop chaud dans la chambre.. Le reste du groupe a passé la semaine, mais heureusement qu'il n'y avait pas d'enfants en bas âge, ou de personnes âgées. Ils ont aimé la piscine, et le petit ruisseau, mais la maison est sombre et la déco très rustique, et trop grande (on passe son temps a se chercher)!

Every criticism is constructive for us and helps us to improve. In this specific case however the criticisms regarding all aspects of the house that are WELL DESCRIBED on the site. I am very sorry for this review and especially for the use of the word "dangerous". I have been renting this house for 17 years and no one has ever considered it as such...I always recommend reading the page with the description of the house and the photos carefully before making a reservation. The air conditioning is not available and is well indicated on the site. No one before you had ever raised this problem so we never installed air conditioning ! In any case there are fans, one for each room. The presence of stairs is clearly visible in the photos and is also specified in the description. We are really sorry for the dog, but we were not warned about its presence even though the site specifies to ask for authorization from the owner to bring the pet with you. If we had known, perhaps we could have highlighted the presence of the stairs again, also considering the age of the dog. The measurements of the house are well specified and I am sorry that this was seen as a defect and not as an asset. We are very sorry that the lady's stay was so short and that it left her with a bitter memory. Enrica

ein schöner Urlaub

Wir haben zehn wunderschöne Tage in der Toskana verbracht. Die Mühle ist einzigartig. Es ist alles vorhanden, was man sich wünscht. Ausflüge zu nahegelegenen Orten sind meist nur über Serpentinen erreichbar. So braucht man für 30 km schon mal ne Stunde.

Naturnahe, ruhige Lage

Die Lage, mitten in der Natur, ist wirklich wunderschön. Alles ist großzügig angelegt. Die Mühle ist aufwendig und wertig restauriert. Zwei kleine Mankos: die Küche ist etwas dunkel und kühl und das Haus ist nicht für Senioren geeignet, denn es gibt sehr viele Stufen und Treppen.

Schöner Urlaub

Die alte Mühle ist sehr liebevoll resturiert, bietet viele unterschiedliche Sitzplätze und beschauliche Plätze. Huptaufenthaltsort ist eine gut ausgestattete Küche. Alles in allem ein wunderbarer Ort um ihn mit Freunden zu geniessen.

Das Haus ist einfach traumhaft!!! Die schönen Bilder im Internet werden der Realität nicht gerecht. Es war einfach perfekt. Wir waren dieses Jahr bereits das zweite Mal an diesen zauberhaften Ort und mit Sicherheit nicht zum letzten Mal.

Wunderschöner Urlaub

Wir haben als Grossfamilie 7 Erwachsene und 2 Kinder sowie Hund 2 schöne Wochen verbracht. Die Műhle ist wunderbar renoviert und hat viel Charme. Das Haus bietet viele Rückzugmöglichkeiten. Das Schwimmbad ist ein Genuss. Karsten war immer da, wenn nötig. Die Küche ist gut ausgestattet. Die Landschaft ist wunderschön, beim Wandern oder mit Fahrrad (Ebike) gut zu erkunden. Einziger Nachteil einige Matrazen sind hart und laut, und die Wände sind hellhörig.

Sehr schöner Urlaub!

Das ist ein sehr schönes Anwesen und passt zu 100% mit den Bildern überein. Haben die meiste Zeit draußen am großen Poolbereich, Bach oder an der Tischtennisplatte verbracht. Das Gelände ist weitläufig und somit perfekt um auch mal alleine sein zu können. Innenräume sind auch sehr sauber und richtig schön eingerichtet. Ein Dank auch noch an Karsten, mit dem hat die Kommunikation perfekt geklappt. Es war ein wunderschöner Urlaub!

Zwei Familien mit junden Erwachsenen

Grosszügiges, ruhig und idyllisch gelegendes Anwesen mit allem erdenklichem Komfort und gute eingerichtet. Hats sich für 10 Personen bestens bewährt. Auto fast zwingend für Ausflüge und Einkauf.

Magnifique demeure

Nous avons trouvé que les photos du site ne sont pas à la hauteur de ce qu’est en réalité la maison. Elle est juste ma-gni-fique, intérieur et extérieur 😍 Nous avons passé 10 jours parfaits. Avec 7 adultes, 2 enfants et 4 chiens, personne ne s’est retrouvé à l’étroit. Un endroit calme en pleine nature avec en bruit de fond la rivière. Trop top ! Et surtout un grand merci à Karsten pour sa disponibilité. Merci encore pour cette pépite.

Unglaubliches Anwesen

Wir waren mit einer befreundeten Familie (8 Personen insgesamt) für eine Woche in der Mühle. Das Anwesen ist extrem groß, weitläufig und unglaublich schön. Der Garten ist parkähnlichen mit einem sehr großen Pool, vielen Bäumen für natürlichen Schatten, unterschiedlichen Sitz- und Liegemöglichkeiten ausgestattet. Es gibt viele verschiedenen Möglichkeiten sich zurückzuziehen und für sich alleine zu sein. Die Architektur der Mühle und die Innenausstattung sind ebenfalls extrem schön, weitläufig und super restauriert. Die Lage ist sehr abgeschieden und ideal, wenn man komplett für sich alleine sein möchte. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen.
