September 2025 Stay

The house was a great size and accommodated our family well. We loved the main living area and it was great for a large family. The house had everything we needed in order to cook and grill meals which was a plus. Location is great. Not impressed with the cleanliness of the home which was an issue. Overall it was a great vacation.

May 2023 Stay

Dewey Dee's is a great place to spend your vacation. Plenty of room for the whole family. I really liked the huge dining table for eating with the family and playing board games. Will definitely book for next year.

Great House for Large Families

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Large house on large lot with nice amenities. The big carport is great for our bikes, coolers and other beach gear. The 5 bedrooms and 4 baths are nice, although the water pressure is “iffy” at times and the hot water runs out before everyone can shower after a day at the beach. The a/c works well except in the bedroom upstairs to the right of the stairs which never gets cool. There are two refrigerators which is wonderful since we bring groceries for a week with us. There’s plenty of seating for meals and the kitchen is well stocked with cookware and dishes. Also the pantry has plenty of room for non-perishables. Kids love the big yard and the swings,however, one swing was broken when we were there. Been renting Dewey Deehs for several years ... expect to be back next year!

The only negatives were the tv did not have the channel that carried the World Series and the outside furniture should be cleaned. Other than those two issues, the home was perfect for this group.

Jekyll family time

We enjoyed our short get-away and the house was adequate in size for our large family needs. I would highly recommend the owner review the condition of several mattresses for replacement though. With the size of our family, we had two adults in the twin room, but this room was not ideal for adults and the mattresses felt like bricks. The single queen room mattress sunk in the middle. The number of bathrooms was ideal for our party, but I would also suggest attention to the shower heads. Lastly, the windows need working blinds or some kind of covering...it was a little concerning (creepy) not being able to prevent anyone from looking in, especially at night. These suggestions are not intended to be complaints but simply pointing out what needs immediate attention for your renters to have a more enjoyable stay. There are many positive things about this rental, such as the large open common areas for multiple cooks in the kitchen, or hanging out in the living room and dining space. We truly appreciated the carport since we rent golf carts during our trips to Jekyll, (3) fit nicely under the covered space. I would rent this house again and hope you will consider our suggestions.

Good and not so good

Good and not so good about our stay. First the good. Jekyll Island realty was fantastic! Very responsive, check in process was easy. The place is spacious, plenty of rooms for my whole adult family. Kitchen was appointed well enough for moderate cooking. Beds were comfortable and the upstairs rooms were quiet and easy to get rest. Outdoor space is nice, with good functional park style charcoal grills . We didn’t try the gas grill. The gear rental place associated with the property management was great, all did what they said. Not so good? The place was not very clean. We had roaches and saw evidence of rodents. The internet is painfully slow. Yes we are on vacation and should push away from online life, but everyone was checking in with work, arranging tours, etc., and it really dragged. It’s an old house and the plumbing doesn’t keep up. Showers upstairs are super low flow. Biggest complaint, however is that this place is NOT on the beach. It was advertised as a “2 minute walk” from the beach, but the water was at the bottom of the dune steps high and low tide. We had to pack our gear in the car and drive a mile or so .. big deal ? No, but visitors might save by getting a place off the beach , since you have to drive anyway. In all, we had a good time with our family, but we’ll opt for another place next time.

Nicely equipped with 3 tvs, dvd player, large pantry, well-stocked kitchen, 2 refrigerators and a huge carport! Plenty of seating for dining. Water pressure isn’t great. You can’t shower upstairs and downstairs at the same time. We figured it out by the second day. A little inconvenient,especially with a large group, but the other amenities outweigh it. Enjoyed the free pass to the Days Inn pool...a nice extra. This was our fourth year booking Dewey Deehs. I’m sure we’ll be back next year!

I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We were referred to Jekyll Island Property Management by my sister-in-law, based on her experience. I am not a fan of VRBO and wanted to work with a person. The property accommodated our family of 9, but we were very disappointed in the condition of the home. The property needs a thorough cleaning, general maintenance and replacement of rugs, furniture, beds, bedspreads and pillows. All the beds were very uncomfortable. Kitchen cabinet hinges were broken and inside cabinet drawers were dirty. The washing machine/dryer were located in the garage and the room was disgusting, with junk and rusted toys sitting all over the floor and shelves. I reported that the washing machine hose was disconnected and water leaking all over. Management responded the same day, but no one came to fix it before we left. Felt sorry for the next renters coming in after us. There was no place to sit outside. Deck and any outside furniture was dirty and falling apart.

Eight guys on a golf trip. Home was great for this group. Plenty of room. The only draw back was the cheap cable did not carry the Fox network and we could not watch the World Series.

Comfortable, Roomy House

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our 4th year staying at the Dewey-Deehs House. The 5 beds and 4 baths is perfect for our family. There's plenty of room at the dining table and kitchen bars to accommodate our crew. The large spacious yard with the tree swings and the quick walk to the water make it a real hit with the kids and the adults.And it has two helpful with a crowd! Water pressure could be better, but not sure what can be done about that. Look forward to returning next year!
