The Gathering Place

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is the second time we have stayed here. It is very spacious and was nice for our big family. Jekyll Realty was responsive for any problems. The pool is amazing along with the hot tub. We plan to be there next summer as well.

Our family, from babies and toddlers to teens, parents and grandparents, enjoyed our stay thoroughly! The house was big enough to spread out, and everyone loved the pool and hot tub. The two small issues we had were handled quickly and professionally. The cooktop of the stove on the kitchen does not work as well as it should, but luckily there’s another one in the bar area. (Oven works fine). The beach access down 1 block at Tyler is better than Porter, but we mostly used the public beach, as our disabled grandson used a beach wheelchair provided free! This was an amazing service! Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Oh, that delightful spa

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Eight of us spent a week enjoying Jekyll Hide Away. We especially liked the spacious second living room, where we watched tv and played cards. The pool is very nice, but be aware that the bottom is quite slanted. Once you get used to that, the pool is wonderfully refreshing. Our favorite part of the visit was the wonderful. In-ground spa. It easily fits eight people and has plenty of jets to relax everyone. Spending time in the spa to review each day’s activities was the perfect way to end the day.

August 2018 Stay

This large house has so many wonderful things like the large enclosed sunny patio, 5 bedrooms and lots of bathrooms - great for large families. It has 2 kitchens, a wonderful large pool and hot tub - a grille that had gas directly to the Grille. The Property Management Company was super nice and responsive. - but then so many things that were not OK. The pool filter was clogged with dead leaves it stressed the motor out and was loud. (we cleaned out the filter) Towel racks falling off the walls when you dried your hands. Old patio furniture, ceiling fans that didn't work, the outside of the house and windows were so dirty. The back deck was clearly in need of updating and repair. Beds were not that great. You can tell that this house use to be the most amazing place. Just needs some TLC and some updates and it would be just a perfect place.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I enjoyed the roomy space, the kitchen had lots of items for easy cooking. Didn’t like the smaller tv in the fireplace room but there were plenty of others. The jacuzzi was great as the weather was not so we could at least soak in there. I liked the house as it was the first time we had stayed there we weren’t sure what to expect. All in all a good vacation. The house we rented for many years was taken off the rental market.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a fantastic week, this house really suits us, with the spa, the BBQ and outdoor and the space. The house is large enough for a big group to stay in comfortably.However, the house really needs alot of TLC, especially the kitchen. the stove is barely functional and needs to be replaced and upgraded. This insides of the kitchen cupboards have not been cleaned for a very long time.The house does come with a sofa bed, however, it is in the main living area, so totally impractical. The bathrooms could also do with some TLC as they are quite outdated.Thank you very much for allowing us to stay in Jekyll Hyde Away for many years.

It was dirty and there were beds that were broken and rotten wood picnic tables. The grill was rusted out. The house needs painting and a good deep clean. Love Jekyll and had a great time regardless, but very disappointed in the house.

We loved the location the beach was right across the road and over the dunes. We spent a ton of time in the pool and hot tub as well! We ran into a few small issues like the washer not working but they came right out to fix it. Some of the house has been updated but the home could really use some TLC inside and out and updated bedroom furniture.

This is our 2nd stay at Jekyll Hyde Away as there is plenty of room for our entire family. PRO: Jekyll Room is HUGE! Plenty of room for everyone to gather! Long counter to use for buffett style meals. Access to a bathroom from enclosed porch/pool area! 2 picnic tables (enough for us all to share a meal) on a lovely shaded back porch! POOL during the day;hot tub at night! Plenty of bathrooms. Enough dishes to feed our small army! Fans to move air in each room on hot days/nights. Chairs out back to enjoy around the pool. Beds are plentiful! GREAT LOCATION on the island! CON: There really is only one kitchen! All of the cabinets are FULL of GLASSES! 😂 I'm sure folks think they are being "kind" when they leave items 'for the next folks'... but now there are 14 disposable salt & pepper shakers taking up space! While there are 2 dining room areas, it would be nice to be able to seat a family in one room. Mattresses and bedspreads need an upgrade or at the very least a good cleaning. No towels/sheets supplied.

This home has a great layout, but it is in desperate need of a deep cleaning. Especially on the inside. Some members of our group had trouble breathing upstairs due to the mold/ dust/mildew. I’m not sure that this place has been more than broom swept in about 20 years. Clearly used to be a very nice place, but it needs to be updated in several areas. Outside pool area was nice, but also needs to be cleaned. Could be a great place to stay if the entire inside was deep cleaned.

Home had just about everything we needed! The back patio and pool area are amazing, in fact we spent most of our time between that and the Florida room.Home could use some TLC but we still enjoyed it immensely. House location is just perfect to bike in either direction. This island is made for biking and really exploring this amazing place.

DO NOT RENT THIS HOUSE UNLESS IT GETS A FULL MAKEOVER

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was more than happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This house is in terrible condition. Broken drawer pulls, broken blinds, moldy shower curtains, dead cockroach, rotten window frames and mullions, clogged gutters, no ice cube trays - freezer ice maker not working and, finally, dishwasher was full on arrival. The sheet rental service has sub-par linens, many yellowed. There are photos to support all of the above. Mattress in downstairs bedroom was incredibly saggy.Very disappointed that Jekyll Realty would offer such a house for rent, they need to make sure that homes are up to at least a modest standard before agreeing/continuing to represent the property.

Absolutely Loved the Location/Pool/Deck/Spa

The rental process was easy and office was friendly, helpful and overall wonderful!! I would say that the price was fair for the amazing experiences we had *outside* the house and over a holiday weekend. There was lots of light and space and bathrooms, which was wonderful for our crew. We truly enjoyed every moment of sunshine and the pool and spa area. I read the reviews so I thought I had a general idea, but.. This location is in need of some serious repair by owners or it will not be serviceable for long. It’s a large, older home with what appear to be current leaks and/or previously unrepaired damage to ceilings and walls (we never saw any water/wet areas. Carpeting and other items throughout need deep cleaning or replacement. I don’t know if these issues are on the owner to address. Dishwasher was full when we arrived but other than that, overall light housekeeping appeared to have all been done. I contacted the office regarding the condition of carpeting and a urine-like smell and they quickly offered to remedy the situation with some further housekeeping the next day but we decided we’d live with it since it was a last minute Labor Day booking and I knew nothing was likely available with a completely private pool (our selling point). We did enjoy our time there but I would only recommend if you’re fully aware of what you’re getting when you book this location.

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was more than happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The larger home was the perfect size for our blend of families. Everyone had ample room to spread out and relax. The pool and hot tub were definite pluses! We were disappointed with the condition of the home though. It was very dirty and several surfaces and items (dishes, end tables and lamps, drawer in party room was stuffed with trash, etc.) had to be cleaned before we could use them. The ceiling fan in the downstairs bedroom did not work and the fireplace lighting was "flaky" (We kept them off since we did not want to chance a fire!) Also, I'm not a fan of the "bring your own (or rent) linens" policy.... It's a vacation and we are paying for housekeeping.

Our Week in Paradise

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The size and location of the property was perfect for our needs. Our kids and grands loved the pool and hot tub. The pool/hot tub is well maintained by a pool contractor. Easy access to the ocean/beach. The house both inside and outside needs a through cleaning and organization. The pantry, cabinets, closets, vanities were all cluttered with items not needed; making some unusable for us. The floors and carpets all need to be cleaned. The toilet back in the sunroom was not flushing (the one we would have used from the pool). Some of the electrical outlets were not working; including the upstairs master overhead light, fan and lamp on nightstand. The pool area and furniture could use a good pressure wash. A little elbow grease and this place could be awesome.
