The Starfish Cottage is the perfect place to relax for your next getaway. Located in the Pierpont neighborhood of Ventura which is just west of the 101 freeway between San Buenaventura State Park and The Marina. This ideal location offers the best of Ventura.

Bike trails will take you along ocean paths to Santa Barbara or east to Ojai. Restaurants are within walking distance from The Starfish. The Marina has the best bikini store along with well established eateries.

Head across the freeway to old downtown Ventura for a great shopping or dining experience. Check out the resell shops, wine bars, and just all the wonderful locally owned businesses.

The cottage kitchen has everything you need for cooking. Our large outdoor patio is comfortable and roomy. Our home is situated on the north side - or sunny side of the lanes- so you will get nice morning breezes and afternoon sun.

Step outside the front door for a less then a 2 minute walk to the beach. All Pierpont lanes end at the State Beach.

You will love our new extra comfy king bed in the master bedroom - we splurged on the mattress and bedding. The second bedroom has a queen bed and the den has a new queen sofa sleeper. All linens are 600 count cotton sheets, pillows are the Allergen brand and we only use cotton covered down like comforters on all beds. We also provide plenty of throw blankets and extra blankets for your comfort.

An outdoor hot/cold shower is available to wash sand off yourself and your suits before going inside. A small amount of sand can clog the pipes and drains.

The kitchen is completely stocked with dishes (indoor and out) for your needs. We have a toaster, crock pot, Vitamix, Mocca Master Coffee Pot, spices, condiments and anything in the fridge is free to use.

All beach items are stored in The Tuff Shed behind the east front gate. Bikes can be stored behind the locked gate. The Shed is full of beach towels, chairs, umbrellas and other beach items that you will not have to pack.

This house is wonderful! It's small but the open concept makes is feel bigger. It is well appointed and very comfy. We (and our dog) loved the backyard, it feels private and the landscaping is beautiful. Very close to the beach. Bunnie was great to work with. This is the 3rd house we've rented at this beach and it is definitely our favorite, we will be back!

Ventura beach cottage

I took my three kids for their summer vacation to Ventura, rented a fun car, and thought it would be relatively quiet time. Instead it was daily walks down the block to the beach, outings for food, making delicious dinners at home on the outdoor bbq and generally being super happy. The location and house itself definitely made the trip. Thank you again Bunnie. Would highly recommend this stay to anyone.

Beautiful beach/ ocean vacation

The owner was great. She really wanted us to enjoy ourselves. Great location and really nicely decorated. The rooms were comfortable and everything was so clean and organized. There was a lot of beach chairs, towels and play toys. And a really nice backyard with a big lawn. We will be back.

Cute cottage

The cottage is small, but nice and cozy. We had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. We were lucky to have nice weather and really enjoyed our stay.

Terrific beach cottage

We had a wonderful stay at Starfish Cottage. The location is excellent just down the lane from the beach and great for walking around Pierpont. The house was clean and very comfortable for our family. The kitchen was well appointed and included a wonderful coffee maker. My kids loved spending time in the spacious yard and playing with some of the beach toys available in the outside shed. Bunnie was so accommodating and responsive as a host. Thank you for a great stay! We hope to come back again soon.

Nice place in Ventura

Beds were comfy, house was clean, area was quiet, host was responsive, beach and sunset was just a walk away. We did have to drive to destinations like restaurants or touristy places, except for beach.

Location. Location. Location.

Starfish cottage is an easy place to settle into. It is a 2 minute walk to the beach and within a drive of a few minutes of downtown and the harbor. The cottage is fantastic, clean, well-stocked and just a fun and relaxing place to be. Spent 6 nights with my wife and 2 kids and we are already excited to go back. Bunnie, the host, is fantastic to communicate with and she takes pride in the cottage and the area- and it shows throughout the cottage and the overall experience of being in Pierpont. Can’t wait to get back to Ventura!!

Highly recommend

Bunnie was a terrific host. Responds to everything very quickly and gives great advice on things to do. You can tell she loves her place. The beds were so comfortable, and the linens were so soft. The kitchen was well stocked. The backyard was awesome, though we didn’t use the fireplace or anything in the shed. It was lovely to sit outside and have the smell of the jasmine. Her garden is very lovely. The house is a close walk to the beach and we walked around the neighborhood and to a park close to by. Would highly recommend. Please respect this home as if it is your own, and respect the rules. Would love to return!

A piece of serenity & hometown memories!

We had such a a peaceful stay, even under the circumstances of our visit. We grew up in Ventura, CA so this was just like my home growing up. Bunnie was the best & we had everything we needed in the home & more! Pictures reflect exactly what the property states online.

Favorite stay by far!!!

I've been using VRBO for more than a decade, usually with good results. I grew up in V-Town and much of my family still lives there. Each time we come to visit, we will be (((hopefully))) staying at Starfish Cottage. This stay was EXCELLENT! 500 STARS!!! These folks were are the gold standard. Our host was thorough and attentive, keeping in touch from confirmation to check-out (respectfully, and as-needed.) The cottage was C-L-E-A-N, well appointed and so comfortable. It felt homie, but not like we were tripping through someone else's home. There were nice personal touches, but again, not overwhelmingly so. The yard was simple, well-manicured, secured for the pups and very private. There were no sad surprises here. Everything was as-advertised and then some. Our dogs were allowed, but this didn't feel, smell or look like a house with dogs in it. (We have been disappointed by houses like this before.) Bottom line: If you're looking for clean, comfortable, welcoming and unpretentious, with proximity to the beach and anywhere else you need to go, this is the spot!

Loved it all except the weather

Perfect cozy cottage with all the amenities necessary for a great beach getaway. Extra bathroom is a great luxury and the backyard space with plenty of chairs is a real bonus. On top of that a shed full of stuff to play with and you've got everything. Even though we had one of the fiercest rainstorms I've ever encountered, we stayed nice and dry inside with no flooding or pooling of water outside either. We will be back when we attempt our trip to the Channel Islands again.

Perfect house for family get away

We stayed for over a week and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. The beds were so comfortable and the backyard with the fire pit was above our expectations. Can’t wait to come again.

A perfect beach stay

We visited for the weekend from LA with our two dogs and had the most wonderful time. Check-in was a breeze and the place was exactly as advertised. Cozy accommodations, easy drive to downtown Ventura, and best of all: a short walk to the beach. In addition, we accidentally left behind a sentimental item and our host really went above and beyond to ease our anxiety and get the item back to us. Will definitely be returning!

Christmas in Ventura

We celebrated Christmas with family that live in Ventura. This cottage was ideal for our needs. It is extremely charming with bright and beachy decorating, has a lovely backyard, and a kitchen well supplied with what you need to prepare meals. Just a very short walk to the beach where our dog loved running free! Bunny was a wonderful host, greeting us on arrival and checking on us after a day of torrential rainfall to make sure everything was running smoothly. She immediately sent a repair man over to repair some lights that were damaged during the rain. We would definitely stay here again on future trips to Ventura.

Perfect Cottage!

Starfish Cottage was a perfect choice for a fall getaway. The cottage is well-appointed and CLEAN, and the furniture is very comfortable for lounging! Everything you could possibly need was on hand, and the bath products (and soft water) were luxurious! Our dog loved having a backyard of her own, and the lush landscaping made a wonderful spot for reading. Communication with the host was easy, and she provided very thoughtful information about the house and the area. We'll definitely return to this cottage!!

The Pierpont area has so much to offer at such a fabulous location. Biking, running, walking and just hanging at the beach seem too good to be true. You will find yourself wanting to come back year after year to this truly wonderful town.

We have a personal connection to the area as our grandkids attend Pierpont School and get to skateboard, scooter or bike to school every day. Having family living just up the street adds to our pleasure of owning in Pierpont.

We love opening our home to our guests so they can fall in love with the area just like we did. There is something magical about going out your front door and having sand under your feet in less than 2 minutes. Whether you are having coffee in the morning or wine while watching the sunset, your stress will just float away.

Por que o anfitrião escolheu essa propriedade

We feel so fortunate to have found one of the original cottages from the 1950's. The history of the area fascinated us. The Keys area which is adjacent to Pierpont used to be a small airport until the 60's. Pierpont was actually all dunes in the 50's just like the ones you will see at the beach. Developers decided to flatten the dunes and build the small cottages, but Mother Nature didn't like that idea. To this day the winds rebuild the dunes which you will get to experience for yourself exploring the area. Walk or bike to the pier and check out Surfer's Point, Seaside Park (where the State Fair is in August) and the Amtrak station.

Ventura's downtown area has restaurants, resale shops, wine bars, music and much more. There is a farmer's market downtown every Saturday and one at the mall on Wednesdays. The Ventura Mall has lots of shops including Macy's, Trader Joes, Bev Mo and much more. Over on the east side of the 101 off Telephone road is Barnes & Noble, Pier One, Kohl's and a strip of eateries. On the west side of the 101 is Target, BBB, Winco Grocery, local restaurants and a great wine bar. Just off Main close to downtown is Peet's Cafe for the best breakfast in Ventura. Our property is modeled after what we have personally enjoyed when we rent vacation homes. The thought "I wish we thought of that or we should do that" has been incorportated into our vacation home. We have taken all the personal touches others have put in place for our comfort and brought them into our home. We hope you find "The Starfish Cottage" so special you don't want to leave.
