Jane and Richard first met in 2001, brought together by a shared love of France, hospitality and restoring beautiful places. While building successful careers in hospitality, facilities management and electrical engineering in the UK, we shared a long-held dream of creating somewhere special in France — a place where people could escape, slow down and feel completely at home.

That dream eventually brought us to the Charente and to Carmagnac.

Over the years we have carefully restored and developed the property, combining the character of traditional French buildings with the comfort, quality and attention to detail we would expect when travelling ourselves.

Carmagnac is our home, not simply a holiday rental, and we genuinely enjoy sharing it with our guests. We believe good hospitality is about getting the balance right: a warm welcome, being available whenever we are needed, and then giving our guests the privacy and space to enjoy their time together.

We particularly love introducing visitors to this quieter corner of France — from beautiful villages and local markets to restaurants, vineyards and places that are sometimes missed by the traditional tourist trail.
